  1. Not sure that link can really apply since there is a gag order against RMI's answering rules questions. I don't recall anything in the rules that allows me to go back to prior score sheets for the score of a current target. If a competitors ammo is larger than a prior shooter then I might be able to find the right holes but the reverse might not be true. If in any doubt about the score of any target, I would ask for the assistance of my CRO or RM. Good guesses or I thinks do not work.
  2. It seems most of the media seperators would best be labeled as shakers. I have a very old Midway rotating media basket that does a pretty good job on pistol brass but still leaves some media in a case or two. Lately I have been using the smaller sizes like Lizard Litter for walnut and a very small size corn cob grind. I think the corn is 20-40 from drillspot and I've heard that Harbor Freight carries a fine walnut. I do run walnut an hour with Dillon or Midway polish and a shot of denatured alcohol before adding brass. The corn cob usually gets a couple of squirts of NuFinish and run for an hour before brass.
  3. This is a game/activity where absolutes should not be used. I use pure lanolin to lube my .223 brass so if I don't clean my brass after sizing I have a flipping mess later. The 40,45 & 9mm don't get lubed because they get deprimed in a single stage press with compound leverage. Don't get me wrong, when I first started loading 9mm I lubed but I found I was getting a sticky residue on the brass after a few weeks so I stopped using it because I didn't want to clean the brass again. I try to only offer advice and leave the you can do this or you can't do this to the Federal Government.
  4. Some times we make way too big a deal about this but it is meant in the spirit of safety. Number 1 with motorcylce riding is that just because you have never laid one down doesn't mean you won't. Or skydiving, don't crow if you have never had a malfunction because the next jump may be the one. Flipping does seem to be more prevalent in the upper classes and may have to do with the amount of ammo shot or too many lost brass matches. Remember it is always safe until it isn't.
  5. Appendix D4, item 21.4 Grips "For semi-automatic Production guns, grip tape, grip sleeves, checkering, stippling or other texgture may only be applied in the areas shown in Appendix E4." [devil's advocate] The grip sleeves are thicker than grip tape and it says it can be installed in a certain area so if you added 2 or 10 it fits in this part of the rule.[/devil's advocate] The main probablem is that some people get their panties in a twist over the meaning of a Production gun because they keep trying to change the rules to how they envision they should have been in the beginning. Some times change is not always good for USPSA or the country. Production Division in my mind means a gun that is scored minor and it has a double action trigger. Just because the BTAFE or the company claims that pulling the trigger causes 2 actions is a bunch of horse pucky. A pull of the trigger should cause the gun to fire, if it didn't then pull the trigger again. If the BOD would just accept that the cow is out of the barn and stop trying to seal the barn and start worrying about the cow. Afterall I can milk the cow but that barn is just going to rot away.
  6. Based on a response I read elsewhere an email from John is like a personal conversation, doesn't mean anything until it shows up in Front Sight or on the USPSA website under rulings. Maybe that is why there is a gag order about RMI's adding comments in the rules section.
  7. Not a clue how many rounds might be added, but with people pushing their mags for every last round, I just figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. I'm actually in the minority and only load 18-19 in my limited mags and 26-27 in my open mags. I also haven't seen a Surefire firsthand and didn't know they were having so many problems. No intent to rile anyone up Sorry I was having a bad day of cabin fever with warm weather and gale force winds keeping me off the range. After I posted this I looked at all the time and work Gentleman Jim (Firebird) put into his comp design that I guess there is still room for new ideas.
  8. I didn't say I knew how. I didn't say this was how. All I'm saying is it has these parts. I have seen them but not taken the base pad off. Question... how do you know it is epoxied on and not the sleeve above it?? I totally agree with quality in what you pay for. I have TF170's Just sharing what I know and nothing more. That is what this forum is about Sorry I am a glass half empty kind of guy and start with negative thinking. Probably has to do with my Quality Control and Disaster Preparedness assignments. Think of anything bad that can happen and plan around it. I now live in the middle of 150 missile silos so I don't think I would have time to bend over and kiss my a$$ goodby.
  9. I doubt it would hurt anything. I would use a recommended cleaner or maybe some lemi shine in water or simple green. For best results I would take the bolt out of the carrier. I may look into this for the top end of my pistols. DO NO clean things aluminum with simple green as it can remove anodizing. Please don't ask how I know.
  10. I hope you conveyed this information to one of the Range Masters or Match Directors. We as RO's can't get better if no tells us we are making mistakes. I was on stage 4 so if I was one of those I apologize. However we are there as volunters and some of us are starting to get long in the tooth or no teeth. So the best way to help is to volunter to work one of the matches and shoot the other. Free dinners are no longer enough to keep me going back.
  11. 5.5.2 allows retrieval of mags as long as safety rules are not broken. The only consideration here is safety, not whether a real or imaginary wall is there or not. I don't agree with safety as the only consideration. I agree with other posters that if the wall were solid to the ground the mag could not have bounced under it so the shooter should be able to retrieve it safely. I think the intent of 2.2.3.3 is to allow clubs that have fences/vision barriers constructed that do not touch the ground the ability to continue using them as walls. It is easy to say in the WSB that barriers go from the height constructed to infinity. There is a tale of a WSB stating that all rounds must pass under a tractor. Shooter went under the tractor to the other side. No fault line on other side of tractor & before the days of a forbidden action. The WSB is the RM's friend.
  12. I was an airdale not a swabbie but I thought there was a difference between longitudinal and lateral. Doesn't one mean length and the other width?
  13. SJC cuts them at the same angle as a stock Glock mag & then they use real small allen head screws & aradondo +5 base pads What's the price difference between a stock mag and a Taylor Freelance that uses standard (allen) hexhead cap screws.
  14. I like my KKM barrels but YMMV.
  15. So exactly how many extra rounds do you think you could get and feed properly in the 50mm below the mag well? Have you looked at all the internals Surefire added and how many complaints are still showing up on forums?
  16. So after you saw them off and epoxy base pad back on (no lip to catch base pad) how are you going to get them apart to clean. I watched a shooter lose a match from a dirty mag from the previous stage. If a mag hits the ground I won't use it again until after I have cleaned it. Shooting Production with 30 mags.Open Glock 40 with 5 170 Taylor's, 14 140 Arrendondo's and 10 15 round mags. I always heard that you get the quality you pay for.
  17. Now you have an other parameter as you say the brass is ejecting. If you were getting stovepipes (empty not clearing as new brass is fed in), then I might question the factory RSA. But it sounds as though you might have a weak mag spring. You didn't mention if it was just 1 mag or several. My recommendation to you is fully load them at home, use 1 as a barney mag [DISCLAIMER]I WILL NOT RECOMMEND LOADING ANY PISTOL OTHER THAN A BERETTA M9 SERIES DIRECTLY INTO THE CHAMBER [/DISCLAIMER]. Then top off the mag and start shooting, if you don't get any failures then shoot STRONG HAND ONLY. Without being there to watch thats all the advice I can think of. I'm lazy at the range so I usually load my mags at home so I can just go and shoot. If it is trigger control/slow fire/accuracy then I load the full 17 otherwise they just get 16 so I can shoot pairs. They are numbered because there are 30 to play with.
  18. Had it happen several times with small pistol/rifle in my hand primer, now I know to look.
  19. Limited 24 has a 13# IMSI & Tungsten rod, Open 24 has an 11# Wolff with Jager extra extended guide rod.
  20. Let me know how this works as I am still getting about 1 in 100 with my G24.
  21. NO! Can I stop at 30? Oh that is 9MM, the 40 & 45 are a little less. For the AR is that loaded in the BOB or range mags.
  22. The main concern when changing the safety plunger spring is making sure it is properly installed. When removing the safety plunger the spring should be inside. And yes I have several including some Edge's and all the springs were changed. Except for one gun that does not have a safety plunger where it is not required by division rules.
  23. This is the point where I need to ask for your meaning of FTF. Is it a failure to feed or a failure to fire? There are several posts about how the springs interact however my searchfoo is not awake yet. The recoil spring has a primary function of keeping the slide in battery when the trigger is pulled. Simple check [disclaimer]MAKE SURE THE MAGAZINE IS OUT AND THE GUN IS EMPTY[/disclaimer] pull and hold trigger, point the gun vertical, pull the slide back and SLOOOOWLY let it forward. it should go into battery, let trigger go so it resets, pull trigger again, slide should not drop out of battery. If it does then the recoil spring is too weak OR the trigger spring, striker spring combination are pulling the slide out of battery. EVERY GUN IS DIFFERENT. MY G34 will shoot 120PF ammo using WSP primers; with an 11# IMSI spring, tungsten guide rod, 6# trigger spring, 4# striker spring & extended tip striker. However I need to change the recoil spring frequently. [disclaimer]This is not a recommendation[/disclaimer]
  24. My AR has a factory AK74 muzzle brake and a guy 30' away was mentioning how loud it was. The next day a guy had a 50 Beowolf at about the same bench burning through ammo like it was BB's which I thought was noisey. Then a guy with a 338 Laupa got between us, now that gave a new meaning to loud. By 3 gun season I hope to have a Benny Hill on mime.
  25. 1. Try a 10mm instead of the 40 2, No need to say anymore
