  1. Beats him flipping out and getting all the re-quals upset and scared(er) and he deals with it some how and his energy will transfer to his students. So he is a patient man as far as I am concerned (just not the nicest one). Phil
  2. That whole thing just sucks, sorry that happened to you! I would have done the same thing as you and then not have slept at all because I would be worried about the guy vandalizing my car or kicking down my hotel door (in the later case their would be rounds down range). I know it is hard not to react. I was in a situation almost just like that. I had cut a guy off, (sort of accidentally, but surely my fault) and he started to follow me. I can see in the mirror that there are atleast two people in the car and atleast the driver is really upset. I was just comming home from work and I was carrying, so I was already aware of where this could go. I pulled into a parking lot, they followed. I parked and then they parked. I take a moment to collect myself (safety off) and observe them in the car and see things are relatively calm. I get out of mycar and approach theirs, I can see everyones hands except the person in the back seat who looks to be a quiet girl along for the ride. Upon arriving at the car he rolls down the window and I said "I am sorry I did not mean to cut you off back there I thought I had alot more room." he says, "ok I just wanted you to know you were wrong." I apologized again and we went our seperate ways. Other then me being stupid in the first place that went about as well as it could have, had two guys gotten out after I was outside my car I would have had to have drawn and taken it from there. There is something comforting about knowing you can follow through with the entire action though and think all the way through it.
  3. What did the fish say when he swam into the wall? Damn
  4. "Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?" I am sure some of you have heard that already but I found it pretty interesting. It pertains to just about anything in life. Money might not be what the trade is and speed might not be what you are trying to achieve but it seems that it works itself out to a trade of that sort. Chew on it, it pertains alot to buisness but applies to shooting too (remember "costs money" could mean effort, time, patience; it all depends on the goal/result desired). Simply put you have to give to get. Phil
  5. Although funny, the vid actually makes me mad. To think they use that as propaganda to get people in thier door, typically those kind of people (not all) are the type of people who give well minded shooters (to include the average plinkers and hunters) a very bad name. Phil
  6. Good job, still looking for mine...

    My Dad

Sorry to hear about your loss and I hope you find comfort in the type of people who loved and cared for your father. Phil
  8. +1 to Gman Make sure you are starting out with proper grip, stance and sight picture it is horrible have to unlearn stuff. Recoil is a prefrence but there is some thing to be desired about less muzzle flip and a quicker recoil recovery (grip, stance, ergonomics think about how your body works as well as your bone structure). Good luck and welcome. Phil
  9. Shaka I was hoping to find out how the suggested advice worked out. What you liked? What you didn't like? and why? Phil
  10. The advice about taking the front door pannel off is very good advice if the retailer will let you do it. You want to look for a lock cam system that will move all of the pins (a large portion of safes have a handle connected to a single lever that will just move the three bolts on the opening side of the door). This may go against conventional thinking but it is absolutly true, make sure your safe has external hinges. This has more to do with a truely improved fire rating and it will make the safe easier to move as the door can be easly detached (when the safe is open), that will lighten the load for you if you are relocating it. From a security stand point the external hinges are a good thing! You can take an angle grinder and cut off the hinges but the door will remain in place because of the bolts and the thickness of the door (you get a thicker door with external hinges) keep the door in place. Look into Browning/Pro Steel (certain models, careful what you get) or if you can really afford it a Fort Knox safe. Phil p.s. I used to sell them
  11. Great advice from everyone thankyou for all of the technical information. Phil
  12. How do you like your stock? That is the stock I was really looking at getting. Is it the long or the short version? Any advice on that? I will talk to JP of course when I place my order but I am just trying to get my ducks in a row.
  13. I am scratching the money together to order my JP by July 1 and am fairly certain I want a JP-15 Vtac mod. According to the website they are cheaper then a "normal" JP-15 but with the exception of the comp the vtac seems to have more accessories with less cosmetic detail (I am under the impression that it will still be a very nice looking gun none the less). What am I sacrificing if anything? I really don't want to spend the money on the CTR-02 but I am wondering if there is a detail I have overlooked or if there is something I should be considering before I place my order. I just want to hear that I am not doing something stupid I suppose. Phil
  14. We are looking around the Ames area. Of course one of the priorities is the gun laws, it seems like IA is pro gun (unless I am mistaken). I am also curious about ranges and shops in the area. If any one can give me pros and cons to living in IA it would be helpful, wether it be generally related or gun/sport specific. Thanks, Phil
  15. After being out for two years I have decided to go back into the Navy. I got out two years ago for two reasons. 1. I was not sure which path I wanted to take in the Navy (I had a few choices, long story) 2. My wife and I would be geographicaly seperated for atleast a year and a half (she is active duty too). Well we will still be geographically seperated now that I am going back in, but I thank God I have a wonderful and strong relationship with my wife that would enable us to still have a wonderful journey through life together. I was involved in Navy Law Enforcement and was a Shotgun/Rifle/Pistol instructor. I thought I was a decent instructor when I was in. Since getting involved in this sport and having a supremely excellent coach (I realize not all of us are fortunate enough to have one) I have come to realize I have a tremendous amount of material to pass onto the people who could use it most. Be it dry firing (alot begins there), thinking about your movement and the most efficent way to accomplish a task or simple tweaks a shooter can make here and there to tighten up there group or rip off the follow-up shot that much quicker. I just wanted to say "Thankyou" to the people who helped me out on the board; to the unsung hereos of the sport--match directors and to a terrific friend and shooting mentor (you know who you are S.L.). Thanks again and God bless, Phil
  16. I got my first clasification card, I made C class in limited. Let's see if I can get B class knocked out by the end of next year. Phil-a happy and content shooter
  17. MMC.com has the target front sights for 25$ plus 7$ s&h. Just incase any future searches need the info. (seeing how there are lots of Hk shooters it seems ) Phil
  18. Does anyone know if there is anyone who make a front sight for the HK USP with a width in the .090 to the .120 range. It would need to be of the non fiber optic variaty as I want black sights. Thanks, Phil I sent my gun to Tommy at LGI in VA for trigger work should be nice when I get it back.
  19. "Master shooter hidding behind a C card (slap) " Stew has just had bad luck on classifiers after this weekend everything should be about right. Right Stew? Phil
  20. Great job and good luck with Master, surely by this time next year you'll be there. Phil
  21. Congragulations, that should keep you in sport for while longer. Phil
  22. My fourth match and it is the classifier (which I have had a running of zeroing on sheer dumb luck). Not nearly as fast as Jake's 3.02 (quite the task) but my 8.65 El Perez at Topton earned me 15'th out of a field of 55 and puts me at my season goal of becomming a C shooter in limited. Like the name suggests I just hope I can become better. Phil
