  1. How sturdy are the dovetail mounts? I had already seen some claims that they flex more then a slide milled and can break more easily. Seems like that would be more possible with a major gun. I just got the news that my first slide getting milled is ready and should have it soon to try CO.
  2. I'm a shooter who likes shooting major in SS or Limited. But it appears that a big reason for these possible changes is that there is a very large number of shooters who want to shoot cheaper 9mm but don't want to compete against major.
  3. Shooting irons sights one of the mantras regarding sights is "see what you need to see". You don't need the same refined sight picture at an open 7 yard target as you need for a 30 yard mini popper. Is the same thing true at any level with optics. On a 30 yard mini popper would you focus more on the dot?
  4. I guess we'll find out but it seems like a good chance that if they end up with seperate LO and CO divisions both will have enough shooters to be viable as seperate divisions.
  5. I get that the upper level shooters are only concerned with match or division wins. At nationals some might be happy with top 10 or whatever. There are some midrange/lower level shooters that want a class win, top B,C. Etc. But I think there are a lot of us who just enjoy some good natured competition with buddies who are at a similar ability level. Or finishing ahead of a buddy that's shooting CO when you're shooting Production. Things like that. Many of us don't put in much work but do try to do our best (at whatever level you're at) when shooting a match. But I think we're all having fun. When I talk to friends or other shooters who don't compete I just emphasize how much fun the shooting is vs plinking at the range esoecially indoor ranges.
  6. In your, or other posters experience, are all shooters capable, with practice, of using a red dot correctly? Do some shooters eyes or brains just not adjust to them or is it more a lack of putting the work in. It sounds like it does come more naturally to some shooters. I'm just getting set up to shoot an optic for the first time. Thanks.
  7. Shooting SS I have enough mags that when one gets too dirty I set it aside and replace it with a clean one. Usually no more then one mag per stage requires that. With my hicap Limited mags I pretty much need to clean one if it hits the ground.
  8. Are you trying to start without the safety engaged hoping they don't notice it and then relying on getting a reshoot?
  9. I've shot quite a few level 2 matches in SS but have a backup. I'll see how it goes with CO before I shoot more then a local but will set up a 2nd gun before going to bigger matches.
  10. Thanks. Wow! That's a lot. I'm just curious because as I've mentioned I'm just getting set up for CO with no experience with optics. Starting with an SRO.
  11. Was this shooting major or minor?
  12. Some people would like LO only if they include major/minor scoring. Have enough shooters shot major with a slide mounted optic to determine the reliabilty of them being used with major ammo. Obviously Open guns are frame mounted.
  13. As far as SS, L10 and Production I would love it if SS was popular enough to stand on it's own. But we know where those divisions stand currently. Because of the lack of participation I'd be willing to see some form of combining those divisions. Being just in the process of setting up for CO, I don't know if a seperate LO or allowing SAO guns in CO would be better. But either way it makes it easier for me to also have a backup gun from what I already own.
  14. I didn't catch that he was referencing a single 140 pf eliminating major.
  15. The 140pf 9mm isn't one of the proposals. Just opinions of would some would like to see. It's not going to happen. Unless I missed something?
  16. I only have 45acp 1911s. If all optics in limited 10 were scored minor I wonder how much difference loading some maybe 145-150 pf loads would make, assuming the gun ran reliably?
  17. Yes. If they alllowed optics but not require an optic. My primary division has been SS and some Limited, both major. But obviously not many are shooting SS. I finally am getting a CZ milled to give Carry Optics a go. If they allow SAO or offer the Limited Optics I have a couple of SAO CZs that I could set up as well. There has been previous talk about 8 major, 10 minor Limited 10. I have shot my SS a couple of times in L10. L10 would be a place to allow optics with the option of shooting irons. It's never going to be a big division anyway. If I end up really loving the optic I could put one on my 1911.
  18. Do the CZs with optic ready option use the same plate system as those milled by CZ custom?
  19. This is exactly what SASS does. USPSA has super senior, lady etc, but does not emphasize it. You see the scores for everyone and then you can look for the first senior, lady, law enforcement etc. listed. As far as awards go they may give an "high senior" award, as an example but not in every division.
  20. The staff reset could work if you're trying to have shooters with small squads (I've seen this with 6 per squad) shoot the entire match in half a day with approximately 30 minutes per stage. But I wouldn't see the need at typical matches with full size squads where you have morning and afternoon rotation.
  21. I'm not sure if you can adjust these like that or if it would be possible to mount something that would limit how high you can raise the catch. It seems like it could be done.
  22. The forward falling poppers that use the bolt head on the rear that holds the poppers before dropping and releasing the popper. Some people will push all the way down on the back with their foot pushing the bolt up too high on the poppers. We instruct people to raise the bolt head just enough to hold the popper at the very bottom.

    Cz75b slide swap

    Thanks for the help!

    Cz75b slide swap

I have a CZ75B that I sent the slide to CZcustom for milling and their optic plate. I also have a CZ75B single action only. Are there any issues putting the single action slide on the standard model? I haven't tried putting it on but was wondering if there were any possible problems that might not be obvious to a non gunsmith type shooter.
  25. Great! If you start shooting matches regularly you should make some progress. Then it just depends on if you really want to work at it or not.
