  1. What would happen if you used this choke and spreader loads? Hey, it might create a vaporizing death cloud that destroys all targets 180 degrees from the muzzle! LOL! I am all for gaining an advantage, so seriously, what do you guys think? Guy Hawkins
  2. Now thats a good question. The next one is in Alabama. 11/04-06/05. Come on down. Area 6 3 Gun. Moss Branch Shooting Range Anniston AL. Join us. Moss Branch Web Site MHearn <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was told it is full................ Please let me know. Guy
  3. Bennie, When I was an RO at the RM3Gun this year I accidentally ran over a guys weapon and destroyed his scope........... within 3 minutes I had paid him for it without him asking to be paid. Even though he had gone beyond the marked off area and laid his weapon in grass which made it impossible for me to see because of the rain (I might have done the same as he did because of the conditions, so I did not bitch or complain). If they said you would be liable you had a better warning than I did. I can not say it is fair but sounds like you, and they, learned a lesson. This is a long term/developing deal........ Why don't you offer to help them out next year by donating a shotgun or service package to them in trade, or just for the hell of it...good for you, and good for them. It's all about love............ Guy Hawkins P.S. Don't you owe me breakfast???? You will come out better than I did since my consumption level is not up to yours. LOL. Love you buddy!
  4. Eric, I am the same way. I walk the stage and try to be smooth and do what I planned. But I am being aggressive as well. That way if my plan goes to hell I immediately shift into a higher level of aggression. I call it my 'Death and destruction mindset'.....I am not joking, ask Joe Sledge he has witnessed it last year on his shotgun/pistol stage at RM3Gun, he even asked me if I was 'ok' when I finished...LOL! Sorry Joe, I did not mean to yell and cuss so much, it just happened. I was in the top places on that stage if I remember correctly, after having my plan go to hell. I find it alot easier to muscle through a stage and still do well when the plan fails. If you can make a plan work great. But if it does not work out don't think about how you can 'get your plan back' (unless it is a no brainer to correct it)........... just shoot, scan, load on the move and destroy everything in site. It's all about love! Guy Hawkins
  5. Bennie, This is for you bud.............. Less than you. You human bowling ball! LOL! Bennie, I need to get you on a workout program. Vodka, beautiful women and not cleaning your plate (admitedly a very hard thing to do...............from a fellow chowhound, I love to freakin' eat!) You are good looking, but that only gets you so far.............unless you are me, in which case it gets you laid. Love you man! This time I REALLY mean it. Ask Matt, I am into love........LOL! Guy Hawkins
  6. My brother Alan, Go with an ax in each hand, give quarter to none and eat the hearts of your enemies with relish! Not the relish in the squeeze bottle though since it will give you gas ( ...............and have fun............LOL!) Guy P.S. Zak you do well to, but remember he has you beat on body mass! Do I need to start a sportsbook on this thing??????
  7. Let's get a poll going on who we think is going to win the showdown!! Guy Hawkins
  8. OK, I will volunteer to be the DI...........I mean RO. You left out the verbal abuse and evil tricks to f--- with your mind portion of the 'RO' obligation. Please let me.... LOL! Guy Hawkins
  9. I am with you brother, I just felt I needed to make the point clearer......... Guy Hawkins
  10. NO! This is not the public school system where 'everyone needs to feel like a winner'. In life there are losers and sometimes, as much as we may hate it, it may be us. Live with it. Guy Hawkins P.S. I still love you Matt.............. LOL!
  11. I believe we should score it heads up and keep iron sight class. They are more difficult to shoot and it should be recognized (no argument can be made that they are equal because if that was the case we would not have developed scopes!). Seperate out the tactical scope, tactical iron, he-man, open and any other classes after the match. Guy Hawkins A small addition: I also think that tactical scope should be allowed to have a second optic (like a j-point) since they are 'tactical' because they are in use now. NO BIPOD!!!!!
  12. (like Our Hero, Benny Hill)............. He is my hero! Big wet kiss for Bennie from Guy! LOL!
  13. Congratutaions Matt! Good Job! I wish we would be informed of these European matches on this website so others will be apprised of them. Guy Hawkins It would be fun to go compete there.
  14. I make this same point to law enforcement folks in regards to my right to carry a firearm..........you may need me someday! Guy Hawkins
  15. I see no reason why this can not be produced and sold for sporting purposes, other than the stupid destructive device rule on certain 12 guage shotguns which should be repealed. Let's write our congress! It is another one of those, 'please protect me from myself' or a 'we feel it could scare someone to death by its mere appearance' laws. Guy Hawkins
  16. I took time off work today to actually practice, a rare thing these days. When I got there I decided to try out the El Prez at 10yds/3' apart and 5' at shoulder on the target. I just got my new JP uppers (don't laugh Kelly, you went to a Benelli so I can go to JP's from Bushmaster's!) and have not gotten used to the recoil impulse and thought this would be a good exercise for that. At first I ran in the low 6 second range for the first couple or rounds. I flipped up the larger aperture and went into the 5's. I did not count any run that was not all A's in hope of forcing myself to 'practice' not just run for speed. I ran several in the high 4's/low 5's then ran one perfect one at 4.31 seconds. I stopped..LOL! I then moved back to 50 yards, 'Magnum El Prez', and ran the first couple in the 11's. I stayed there for a while. I had never monkeyed with the gas system on the JP upper with the new lightened stainless carrier so I did. Got it adjusted and ran in the 10's and my best run was 9 seconds flat with 2 in the C zone. John Paul..........thanks!!!!!!!!! Guy Hawkins
  17. I will put in my application before you will JJ! Guy Hawkins
  18. Matt, Thanks for the advice. I am shootinhg a 1 in 9 twist barrel and I hope they will work in it, but I will try those as well! Thank you. Guy Hawkins
  19. I have always 55gr Federal American Eagle for .223 at close and far targets as well. They do hit light at far steel and it has given RO's problems calling hits I will admit. My fault not theirs. I never have really messed with heavier bullets since I know where the 55's hit at distance. I am in the process of experimenting with heavier bullet loads. JP says the Black Hills 69 gr ammo is great and I tend to think he is right. Guy Hawkins
  20. Replace your extractor spring in your AR with a Wolff extra power one (Brownells has them). It will solve 95% of the problems that might start up with your rifle. Also replace the gas rings if the rifle has over 3000 rounds through it, be careful of the McFarland gas ring, I use the standard 3 rings. I replace the extrator spring and the gas rings every 3000 rds or so. Good Luck and have fun! Guy Hawkins
  21. I would like to ask your opinion of how effective, or ineffective, the use (in a Benelli M1 Super 90 12 gauge shotgun) of the 25% reduced power spring made by Wolff in Brownells is. I would specifically like to know if there is any effect on perceived recoil, muzzle climb, feeding (both problems with feeding and solutions to a feeding problem) and cyclic rate. If you have any other information please feel free to provide it. I would like to know how it works with a normal bolt body and a lightened bolt body. Any and all help would be appreciated!! Thanks! Guy
  22. EricW I feel your pain! Living in West Texas I rarely have the opportunity to ever get a true zero on my rifle because we alway seem to have 5-30 mph winds in my area. I get freaked out when it is calm. And then I really worry about my zero!! LOL!! I make a mark with the end of the bullet for my shooting session knowing good and well that the next time I will need to make another fresh mark for my zero. I envy your calm weather!! Guy Hawkins
