Went to local range to sight in the AR (thanks Benny) at 300 yards. (2 hrs) 2. Practiced with a pistol that made major and realized I shoot my Production gun better, so it was minor Limited for me. (30 mins) 3. Test fired the shotgun (thanks Benny again) and made sure the loads worked. No time to pattern it or check zero with slugs. (30 mins) That was it! I have been told that I am the designated interface with the match and this forum. The rule change stands with the handgun being chamber empty and either loaded or a loaded mag carried on the body. The Application should be out by the end of the month. On another note, I agree with NM3gunner ............let's shoot! Let's not tarnish the match by overly spirted debate on this forum, even though as a lawyer it has a certain appeal...no pun intended. Kurt are you going to help RO this year? Scott and everyone, There definitely is no intent to weed anyone out of the match with the mention of the loaded pistol concept or the holstered on each stage rule we have discussed. And that means we did not intend to weed out those we 'don't want in the match because of that persons equiptment choice'. If you like to shoot 3Gun, we want you to shoot 3Gun with us if you can! Guy Hawkins P.S. As JJ mentioned, I do think it will be easier for the RO's if we do not have a loaded chamber on non-pistol specific stages.

Talked to Blane and he said he really would like to be hot with the handguns on every stage, but he understands the concerns, so he said a handgun must be carried in every stage. But in non-handgun stages (those that the intent is for them to be shot solely with a rifle, shotgun or rifle and shotgun), and unless the stage description or RO states otherwise, it must be: 1) unloaded with the competitor carrying at least one loaded pistol mag available to reload with them 2) pistol can be loaded with the chamber empty and hammer down. He made the comment that a handgun that is carried and unloaded is an expensive hammer....LOL! I thought that was funny. Visions of S-Is being used to drive 16 penny nails popped in my head. It reminded of me of my first SOF match when we had to roll under a barricade with a holstered pistol and a shotgun in our hands (the one that ended with shooting the pistol out of a bus.......a long time ago), the people with expensive handguns were screaming at that one. My Glock rear sight even got scratched a little, oh well it is plastic. Any comments or concerns with this?? Also he stated that the original dates for the match stand! If anyone has any other comments please post them, any feedback is worth considering, it is the shooters match. Anything here I am trying to forward to Blane. Guy Hawkins

Hey folks! Happy New Year! I talked to Blane the other day and he told me a couple of things that should be of interest to you. First, the applications should be out by the end of January! Second, the match dates may change to the 25, 26 & 27 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), from Thursday the 24 to Saturday the 26. I think this is an excellent idea since DPMS is the weekend before and some folks want to shoot both. It also may be easier for some to take the days off to travel to the match without eating up almost a full week. Please post your opinion of this possible date change!!!!!! Third, there is no anticipated change to any of the rules this year with the exception of shooters MUST carry their sidearm in all stages and therefore you should anticipate having a holster that will safely retain your pistol during vigorous movement (open guys take note of this!) I am interested in any educated feedback as to accuracy, consistancy, fouling (from both powder in the working components of the firearm and projectile fouling in the barrel) and as to the overall satifaction with the new Polymer Coated .223 Russian Ammo that has just recently came out. Any comments are welcome. I really do not want a comparison to the old laquer coated ammo, but comments on comparing it to other ammo manufactured by other companies would be great, the more details the better. Thanks! I just sent a thin barrel and a thick barrel, both off 590s, to Colonial Arms (off the web and recomended by Brownells) and they were fair and did an excellent job, to include threading for mossberg chokes. Good people that answered all questions as well. Go with these folks! Guy Hawkins

I need to know your educated preference for a scope for an 18" barrel AR. I have messsed with the ACOG NSN, and when are we going to be allowed to used my J point on the scope itself for as backup without being placed in open? Lots of working guys have them in actual use...... Right now I zero my NSN at 200 yards in the 100 yard mark and it seems to be dead on at 300 yds at the 200 yard mark, dead on at 400 yards at the 300 yard mark and dead on at 550 yards at the 400 yard mark with a 16" barrel with 55gr Federal american eagle ammo. But have switched to a JP 18" which has more velocity (and John Paul supports the sport better than Bushmaster). Comments? Any and all info is appreciated (besides stick to my iron sight gun Kelly..LOL) I want some magnification, but not alot, and it is for 3gun. Thanks in advance! Guy Hawkins

I was attacked by a flying clay today while going to get a cup of coffee................ Welcome back to the conversion of IPSC to political correctness from a combat sport. Let's have a diamond shape target.......bullshit. Last person I saw run a full speed did not go as fast as a clay bird thrown fast by a machine, although it is impressive. Let's invent target thrower that can replicate a shifting and moving (at realistic speeds) target. If we are going to test 'the full range of skills of the shotgun' let's have some single clay stages. You know what I mean, clays thrown at difficult angles and speeds, but only singles. Come on guys, this is about the combat use of weapons, not some trick show shooting. If you want to do that fine but don't make this sport some skilled freak show.
