Hiperfire 24c went full auto... Help!
Flatland Shooter replied to jskd82's topic in Pistol Caliber Carbine
I've found that shooting off the bench its pretty easy to bumpfire a 24C with the heavy springs (light trigger pull). Not for the faint of heart. Scared the daylights out of me the first few times it happened. I have several guns with Hiperfire triggers and so far they are all running fine. But its good to know that should they wear out, the Hiperfire folks are willing to work on their triggers. Thanks for the info. -
Squib slugging a barrel - pros and cons

Matt Dardas shut down operations back in August. Anyplace else we can get those pure lead balls? -

Does it need to be "pure lead"? I have some oversized commercial cast bullets that I would like to try but they are not "pure lead". -
PCC powder--how slow is too slow?
Flatland Shooter replied to funkymonkey1111's topic in Pistol Caliber Carbine
To get to your target power factor (135) are you loading around 5.4 gr N350? Almost out of N320 but have plenty of N350 on the shelf. Thanks. -
Years ago I got laid up for a while. My wife was good about moving around dry fire targets in different locations to give me variety. One thing I got good at was table starts and reloads with mags placed on a table. Due to bad knees, I still prefer to stay seated when the start position is a chair. I credit that dryfiring to my comfort with shooting while seated.

I'm really hard-headed. Maybe a 12 volt car battery would help me make GM.

I did shoot revolver first starting out. Lots of fun but got tired of measuring my times with a sun dial.

I did some back of the envelope calculations and a 1" diameter stainless steel cylinder long enough to short stroke the bolt will weigh just over 3 ounces. Add the 6 ounces for the Blitzkreig buffer and 15.2 ounces for the bolt with the weight still in it and you have a 24+ ounce system. Sounds pretty heavy considering we felt something around 18 ounces was ideal. Do these numbers come close to what you have JsK? What are your thoughts on a heavy setup? Thanks.

"If you plan to run your gun in a short stroke manner, then we recommend this buffer with our PCC buffer weight which will add mass while shortening the stroke. Many shooters feel that this buffer with the PCC buffer weight is the softest running even with a full stroke 16" carbine." Checked at the Blitzkreig website and I cannot find the PCC buffer weight. Is it a chunk of steel placed between the bolt and the buffer? (I seem to remember reading where Max L was experimenting with this). I don't know if its even important or not but how can I tell which of the Blitzkreig PCC buffers I have. (Purchased at the 2017 Black Friday sale.)

There are two sources of magwells for the PSA Gen 2 billet lowers that I know of. Brian Miller (bmiller) here on the forum makes them out of aluminum. Very nicely made and very sturdy. I've hit it with thousands of dry-fire reloads and it has not moved a bit. Titan Rocket Industries made some last summer then dropped them off their website. When contacted, they indicated they were working out some tolerance problems. I guess they got it figured out since they were back on the website in time for their Black Friday sales. Not as pretty or as rugged as Brian's aluminum magwell but a bit larger opening and lighter.

I was able to lower my Safariland 771's a bit by adding Tek-Loks. I drilled holes near the top of the Safariland belt loop that matched the bottom holes on the Tec-Lok. Lowered the pouches about an inch and a half.

What Did You Do Today In Reloading?
Flatland Shooter replied to mayassa's topic in General Reloading
Did the same today as I did for every day in the past two weeks. The wife has some chores that require my attention. But first I need to retire to the garage and load a couple hundred rounds. Return to the house and by then the chores are forgotten. Good news is I won't run out of components until late Spring. -
What caliber can you shoot in USPSA/IPSC
Flatland Shooter replied to Hnemes's topic in USPSA/IPSC Rules
I don't think I've ever seen anyone compete with a .357 Sig cartridge. Possibly rarer than a 9x25. -
I have no idea what I'm doing

Since the OP is looking at Steel Challenge maybe starting out with 22LR would be a good option. -

Flatland Shooter replied to Hnemes's topic in USPSA/IPSC Rules
The minimum cartridge case dimension for handguns to be used in USPSA matches is 9x19 mm. The minimum bullet diameter is 9 mm (.354 inches) {Rule 5.1.2} Refer to D1 through D6 in the 2014 Handgun Rules for Division specific requirements. -
Source for MSA hearing protection
Flatland Shooter replied to practical_man's topic in Gear & Accessories
I've used my since April 2008 and they are excellent. SRS Tactical was the only US source for Sordins at the time. Spring for the gel earseals. I used the standard earseals for several years. Upgraded to the gel and feel it was money well spent. They take comfort up to the next level. -
USPSA Classifier "Tripple Choice"
Flatland Shooter replied to Adrenaline's topic in Stage Comments or Questions
The shooter must assume the starting position as stated in the WSB. Until then, the RO does not start the timer. So its part of the RO's job and not coaching. As a matter of courtesy, especially with new shooters, I like to remind the shooter before each string. We want it to be a measurement of shooting skill and not how good is their memory under stress. -
Maybe something like this would help. https://www.amazon.com/Court-Grabbers-Traction-Gel-Amazon/dp/B018RKD46G/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1543817451&sr=8-9&keywords=basketball+shoe+grip+roll+on

USPSA Classifier "Tripple Choice"
Flatland Shooter replied to Adrenaline's topic in Stage Comments or Questions
I've not shot this one but would like to. I looked at the PCC numbers for this one. Plenty of time to get your hits for a nice bump. I like to shoot right to left so I would start lower right to middle to lower left. Then up to the upper left and finish with the upper right. Since the WSB states "transfer gun to weak hand" it may mess with some of the PCC shooters that would prefer to start the third string with the gun on the belt on the weak side. -
I'm not sure how long it will last. I just give the ball of each foot a quick spray before each run. For indoor matches I wear shoes that have a much less aggressive tread. Something like deck shoes is ideal. The only negative so far is if the range is really dusty, the dust will stick to the shoes and needs to be hosed off before I go into the house.

Zap the soles of your shoes with some cheap hair spray. I get a can at the local grocery store that will last most of the season. Adds a bit of grip on concrete floors.
