  1. I understand this is a long shot due to both products costing too much. I can use my HSA and/or Insurance to pick up a set so I figure why not, but I am trying to get a little more info before dropping that type of cash. Has anyone had the ability or owned both ESP and SoundGear electronic ear pro? If so which did you like more and why? For those of you with SoundGear, have you shot any intermediate to long range rifle with it? I have heard the ESP are a little slow on turning off the active hearing protection so it makes hearing hits on steel at distance pretty hard to do. Can you customize the hearing profiles through the app and bluetooth with the SoundGear? I will be buying one or the other. Right now I like the idea of Bluetooth in the SoundGear which the ESP does not offer so its the leader in the club house. Thanks in advance.
  2. Like I said before more 2011 builders at different price points helps everyone. It is obvious you will get what you can afford. Thats a win for the market as a whole.
  3. If that is truly the case I wonder why they chose Limited? That makes zero sense, but now that I say it out loud I guess it does make sense. I would have thought take the HHF for Open and CO for a given Classifier and split it the difference then calculate backwards from there. Therefore, the HHF for LO would have been directly between CO and Open. Both of which are optic divisions. Probably makes zero difference in the long run.
  4. Interesting I was not the only one.
  5. I wonder if you have made sure your shoulder bump is measured properly. I imagine your shoulder bump is too high which is why the case is sticking out. You will need to make sure your shoulder bump is correct. I actually using a different sizing die for shoulder bump and to make sure the neck is sized properly. Check out Erik Cortina, or other threads on here. It has been discussed in detail. The video below is a different round but the same process.
  6. You lost me when you contradicted yourself in the same post. Then say Have you used shops like Venom or Rafferty? Do you own their pistols and had to work with the builder? I am going to guess you have not, because I have yet to hear one poor word, bad experience expressed by anyone who owns their guns. Including these builders having long phone conversations with the buyer to make sure they get it right. So you accuse him of doing exactly what you are doing. He made a valid point. He said MPA are not on the same quality as Atlas's. Guns cost what they do because you get what you pay for in those builders who make the gun properly. You don't have to agree with him, but few would agree with you. If MPA makes a gun that is good, which has yet to be seen by the market at large, they will not be able to keep up with demand. Adam from Atlas initially had a vision of creating semi custom 2011s for $4k. Since then the demand of his product went through the roof and he could ask more for his guns. Market demand dictates price. This will happen with most competent 2011 builders. Good luck with your MPA since its a bit obvious you have some vested interest here. I hope they make a gun worth the money. I really do. It will only help out shooters have more options with it comes to lower priced 2011s. If they make a good product and the demand increases their prices will increase (they seem to already have gone up overnight). It is called business.
  7. Not sure where @donnyglock has done that. Do you have examples? He said he does not believe a gun at a $3-4K price point has the same build quality as a gun that has a $5-6K price point. What is inflammatory about that? I would tend to agree with that opinion. That would like be suggesting Springfield Prodigy is on the same level as an MPA when clearly it is not. Time will tell if MPA makes a good gun at that price point. There are not enough MPA 2011s on the market to make that claim. It is a fact their original design in their 2011 venture left something to desire at that price point. Have they fixed that? Possibly, but it is entirely up to MPA to fix the current perception. From the outside looking in, it seems they have, but they will need to do more over a longer period of time for the masses to believe this. The reality is, it is kind of amazing that you can get into the 2011 market at various price points that fits your budget. Nothing wrong with that. It is a good thing. I own an Atlas Athena. That gun is the best thing I have ever bought in my life. Is their other 2011 builders at that quality or better? Absolutely. I have not handled many 2011s, but every Atlas I have touched is on point with their build quality. The new V2 Grip is a pretty unique upgrade in the 2011 Grip module world. My gun has never malfunctioned, and far an away my favorite blaster to shoot. That is not to say Atlas does not have issues in some regards. It would seem their Open guns have issues. I would not buy their Open gun. As far as their 9mm Minor guns go, they know what they are doing. I have considered buying an MPA and other 2011 builders like Venom Customs as a backup LO blaster In the case of MPA I would need to be sold on their quality before I shell out the dough. Where as other 2011 builders to not have to deal with negative past perceptions of their guns. Especially now that MPA's LO option is $4K. I will wait until we see how LO shapes up as a division, if it sticks around, and if I feel I need a backup 2011. When the time comes MPA would have to blow me away in build quality for me to consider their offering at $4k.
  8. I think you may want to revisit the 5" option. I think Atlas is onto something when they built their Flagship 9mm guns with 4.6" barrels. I also feel that my AXG Pro with Sig's 4.7" barrel shoots much better, than any of my 5" 9 mm guns. Something to flesh out before starting the build possibly? I love what you did with that Prodigy. Kind of makes me want to buy one to learn on how to work on 1911/2011 Double stacks.
  9. I do like the idea of the threaded adjustments. It feels like when I move the bullet adjustment plate, it moves more than I want it to. It might be a winner with the ability to have fine adjustments. I have started to try to measure the position and depth of that plate for various calibers/ bullet profile, and keeping a record for quick reference to set up the plate when I switch back to that caliber/ bullet profile. This way I am not trying to figure it out every time.
  10. Holy PRICE jump. Almost a grand already. I was looking at their DS9 line at the beginning of the year and they cost was $2,999. It looks like MPA designed an "IDPA" version and a "USPSA" version. Not sure I understand the mark up on the "LO" version of the pistol? Curious if they are worth that price point. I guess time will tell.
  11. You can also getting a little leading with FMJ bullets as the bottom of the bullet that is in contact with the powder is lead and not plated over like they are in JHP bullets which can vaporize with hotter powders. I have been running FMJ for a bit when I was running my GMR15 because out of the blue my GMR was chocking on PD (Precision Delta) V1 JHP bullets. Since then, PD created a rounded nose (at least more rounded) JHP Version 2 of the JHP bullet that my PCCs which work great. Most PCC do not have a feed ramp or any sort really, so some Hollow points can have issues feeding depending on the angle of the tip of the bullet. For instance my GMR was fine with Montana Gold 124 gr JHP bullets, but did not like the PD 124 gr V1 JHP. The angles on the tip of the bullet were slightly different but enough to create feeding issues for me. I am using up all of the FMJ bullets but found that I have leading on the comp. I do not get any leading when using JHP bullets. I was also able to use Everglades plated with no leading. My accuracy with the Plated were just as good as any other bullet I have used. Note this is my experience and I am not using hotter powders like Tite Group. Others may not have the same results for whatever reasons.
  12. I get the same when shooting FMJ 124 gr on the comps of my GMR15 and JP5. I believe it to be more lead than carbon due to the expose both of the FMJ. If I shoot coated it leads up way faster. I am moving back to JHP to prevent any buildup. The PD V2 JHP are pretty sweet.
  13. Stick to 115, 124, and 135 gr with a PF of at least 130. I think the gun runs better at 135 ish with a 14# spring and the accuracy is good.
  14. They are more than accurate with the correct ammo for USPSA/IDPA. Be mindful of the ammo you use and check for accuracy with any ammo you use. Velocity is king in regards to the stock P320 barrel accuracy. I.e. the faster the bullet the more accurate they seem to be.
  15. I have not ran it, but it is a coated bullet so I imagine you will get some. From my understanding they use Sport Pistol powder in that ammo, so it does not burn as hot as say something like Tite Group. Therefore, it is possible the build up may not be as quick. I get build up using FMJ bullets, so I cannot imagine you get zero build up using any type of coated bullet. If you want a budget bullet for PCC use Plated. I have used Everglades with pretty good accuracy and success. Plated are the way to go if you do not want to spend the funds on JHP.
  16. If you like removing lead build up from your comp, then coated bullets are not a problem. If you don't like it then stay away from coated bullets.
  17. Its rough for those powders locally. Scheels in the Springs had N320 for about a month, a year a go and I have not seen it sense. I have never seen Sport Pistol Locally. When you see it buy as much as you can afford. Word on the street is that Federal is using Sport Pistol for their Syntech line so it has become way harder to find once Federal launched that ammo line. I have seen Sport Pistol most frequently on Powder Valley, but you have to check constantly to see when they get it in and there is a limit on how much you can buy. Good luck in your search.
  18. Through a calibration process. It is sensing torque of the drive in both directions it seems like. It is supposed to be done with a clear shell plate.
  19. Just choose one and run with it. I did the same thing when I started when I should have been practicing more. Chasing stuff in regards to reloading for USPSA/IDPA is a waste of time. Find an accurate load that you can shoot well and go with it. One thing I make sure of is to make sure my PF is over 130 if you intend to travel. I actually like closer to 135 because I liked the way it ran in P320s and I did not have to worry about making chrono when traveling. Lots of people shoot 135 gr, and Sport Pistol is amazing. A lot less smoke with coated bullets and it is way cleaner than Tite Group.
  20. I as do many others on the forum do this with my Redding Expanding Die in the same station and it works great. While I don't have the Lyman die I do not see why it would be any different. You may have to play with the die adjustment a bit.
  21. Not sure you can say Never. I think it would depend on how the data plays out participation numbers wise. Who knows what the final decisions are. Combining LO and CO with rule tweaks. Making LO Minor/Major, and then allowing SA minor guns in CO. I do not think you can say Never. I do not think anyone including the BOD knows.
