  1. I moved up from B class to M within a matter of months when I stopped caring about classifiers. I shot them like any other stage of the match. When you truly shoot like the class you want to be in, you will start match moding classifiers appropriately.
  2. I have completely screwed myself over out of major match wins by checking scores after each stage. It led me to try to make up 10 points to win the match and pushing too hard, when I believe I wouldve won if I just shot my own game. That said, nowadays Im able to see scores and not let it affect me because I've truly started to understand that my best performances come when I shoot my own game, dont push, and let my sight picture do my shooting for me. I will look at scores in the evening, and i will sometimes glance at general hit factors for stages that Im about to shoot to see how aggressive I can be on that stage. I still dont look at scores after I shoot a stage, because theres nothing I can do about that stage anymore. I dont even know what my time was for 80% of stages at majors, I just dont even pay attention.
  3. Shoot a gun that you love, dont worry about scores, and just keep at it! Make sure you also surround yourself with similar minded shooters to hang with. Hobbies are always more fun with a buddy

  5. Your stage planning and visualization will become better over time. Make sure you can visualize shooting the stage with your eyes closed 10-20x without a single hitch. Like none of "oh where was that next target at". It takes a lot of visualization reps to truly make a stage plan subconscious.
  6. That sucks. Ive never really had this problem, everyone I've dealt with in this sport is super nice. Move to a different squad, politely tell them to stop (maybe they dont realize how bad it is), talk to md, and if it happens anytime during COF get the RO to give them a procedural
  7. This will happen in your first few matches/months/years of shooting. Get a larger number of matches under your belt first, but eventually all of this will come with 1) more subconscious stage planning and visualization, and 2) being so comfortable with your fundamentals that they also become subconscious. For now, just get out there and have fun!
  8. I don't have this experience, but its awesome that shooting gets you in your comfort zone. Have you talked to your doctor? Try getting on some anxiety medication, it sounds like its affecting your day to day life pretty adversely.
  9. DAA has a dryfire swinger, but you have to activate it by pulling a string, maybe you can rig it up to a stomp pad or something.
  10. Simple box to box drills. Set up 2 sticks 8 yards or so apart. Then two targets on either side. Start in the middle, on buzzer draw and cross one stick and efficiently engage the target (gun up and ready, firing as soon as youre in the shooting area etc) then as soon as you get your four shots off, book it to the other side and do the same. Vary having no shoots on one target per side so you can hard entry or hard exit, or both. Focus on starting to leave the position the second your last shot goes off, and firing a shot the second your back foot lifts off the ground and youre considered in the shooting area. Literally do this a ton and it will translate into your shooting. I did this 3x a week live fire during the entire summer of covid and its the most ive improved in a few months.

  12. Lol practice! But also have someone better than you watch and critique you. There are so many techniques to work on but you want to work on your lowest hanging fruit. Its usually transitions and movement efficiency.
  13. Stoeger dryfire book is great, but I also used his 15 minute dryfire warmup for a long time. It was on enos but cant find a link rn
  14. This is faster than what I did of drawing out my targets on cardboard and cutting them out!

    I took my first class with JJ as a gm. Just practiced a bunch!
  17. Unless its off season, dryfire every day (ideally at least 30 min but a lot of times im lazy and its closer to 15-20 nowadays). If I shoot a match or live fire, I dont dry fire. I end up live firing one or twice a week usually during on season, and when nationals is coming up Ill live fire every day for the month leading up to it.
  18. You can use grip enhancers, but you can also use the gun, and its better training imo. Grip the gun with support hand harder and harder until your hand/gun shakes, then back off slightly. Thats your optimal support hand grip pressure. Hold this position as long as you can to train your grip strength.

    Next Level GM

    The biggest difference between M and GM, and a large part in GM vs top level GM, is consistency. The top level GMs are so much faster/efficient that they can shoot 90% of their maximum potential at a major, where the other guys are chasing their times by pushing and shooting 95-100%, and making critical mistakes.
  22. Nothing but your confirmation level should change for varying target distances, including having both eyes open.
  23. I would shoot the rest of that ammo, and then swap back to the 115. I don't advise shooting a different load and then switching only for the matches, as the recoil will feel different. Even if its better, youll notice it and it can mess with you
  24. Saving this for later. My lead levels are so bad.
