  1. Good to know for the future if I need to do a deep clean and hopefully this can help someone else. I went with MOA's +8 tube. I have a 28" barrel, it sticks out a couple inches but nothing major. I wanted total capacity of 12 so an early quad load is always an option. I'll post a photo when I get a chance
  2. Except as specified does not mean that it can only be more restrictive, it means it can be different. Did you look at Appendix D? Because all three of those specifically mention the butt needing to be above the belt, whereas the others do not. Why leave it out of the other 4 divisions' appendices if it applies there as well? D4.20: "The drop offset type holster is allowed in Production division as long as the heel of the butt of the gun is above the belt per 5.2.7.2, and the rest of the criteria are met." D5.20: "The drop offset type holster is allowed in Single Stack division as long as the heel of the butt of the gun is above the belt per 5.2.7.2, and the rest of the criteria are met." D7.20: "The drop offset type holster is allowed in Carry Optics Division as long as the heel of the butt of the gun is above the belt per 5.2.7.2 and the rest of the criteria are met." I fully expect Troy to say that 5.2.7.2 applies to all handgun divisions, I just think a strict reading of the rules do not agree with that and therefore the rule book should be changed so that either all of the D appendices have the note about 5.2.7.2 in Item 20, or the "accept as specified in Appendix D" clause should be removed from 5.2.7.2 since SS no longer has a different holster height requirement.
  3. ..."except as specified in Appendix D", where Open/Revo/Lim/L10 specifically say there are no holster restrictions. The LE/Mil exception, 5.2.8, just says that at Level 1 matches you can shoot duty gear in a division that it would otherwise not be allowed in (e.g. thigh rig in Prod/CO/SS, which specifically disallow handguns below the belt), it does not specifically say that thigh holsters, or any duty gear more generally, do not satisfy the requirements for any division when used by someone who is not LE/Mil. In fact the last sentence specifically implies that some of that gear is legal in some divisions. 5.2.7.1 does say no "tie-down" holsters (LE/Mil exempt) but not all holsters that put the heel below the belt are tie-down, so what we are discussing is out of scope. Again, this centers around the question: is 5.2.7.2 a holster restriction? It is in the "Holster and Other Competitor Equipment" section, it is specifically referred to in the "Holster and Magazine Holder Restrictions" sections of D4, D5, and D7, the grammatical subject of the rule is the holster, and it specifically states that it can be overridden by Appendix D (unlike 5.2.7.1 which only allows 5.2.8 to override it). Now, I will roll back my original statement, you cannot drop them "as low as you want" because Item 10 in D1, D2, and D3 say, "Maximum distance of handgun and mags/speed loaders from inner side of belt" is 3 3/8" and D6 says 2 1/8". You can do the trigonometry for what vertical drop that allows with your offset, though the actual heel of the butt could be further depending on cant.
  4. I went through an entire case of Tula in practice and two matches without any ammo related issues. You'll get light strikes if you switch to a very light hammer spring, which is a minor deterrence when shooting a DA/SA, but otherwise it was very reliable for me and made 135 power factor out of my SP-01 tactical. It's the cheapest option besides reloading as well.
  5. If there is an NROI ruling that supports you I would love to know about it because I want my rulings as an RO to be consistent with NROI. But without such a ruling, I disagree with your interpretation. I think this comes down to the question: is 5.2.7.2 a holster restriction or a restriction on the mounting height of the handgun? My answer, obviously, is that it is a holster restriction. Section 5.2 is "Holsters and Other Competitor Equipment", and in the rule itself the grammatical subject is "a holster", therefore 5.2.7.2 is a holster restriction, not a handgun restriction. The contents address how to determine if a holster is too low, when applicable, by using the handgun as a reference point but specifies that Appendix D can overrule it. If the rule was "A handgun, that when holstered, has the heel of the butt of the handgun below the top of the belt, except as specified in Appendix D, or otherwise indicated in Rule 5.2.8", then I would agree with you that it is a rule regarding the position of the handgun. Prod/SS/CO all specifically cite 5.2.7.2. in Item 20, of their respective appendices, whereas Open/Revo/Lim/L10 all just say "No" holster restrictions. If 5.2.7.2 is a holster restriction then that "No" clearly overrides it. If 5.2.7.2 is not a holster restriction and the height limit applies to all divisions, then there is no logical reason why it would not be cited in Open/Revo/Lim/L10 as a reminder just as it is in Prod/SS/CO or left out of all of DX.20 sections entirely (since it isn't a holster restriction).
  6. +1 to the foam ear plug. Should absorb almost all the impact onto the firing pin, even better than an o-ring. But without the firing pin block it is hardly necessary.
  7. Yup, I am in agreement and do the same thing when I am ROing a new shooter and the stage has a turning start, door, cord activated window, or some other feature that is a common source of DQs. I was just not aware that the rules allowed issuing such safety commands during the COF like your original example.
  8. 5.2.7.2 is present so that Item 20, Holster Restrictions, in the appendix (not present for PCC) can refer to it. Open, Limited/L10, and Revolver do not have the height restriction, you can drop them as low as you want. Production, Single Stack, and CO all refer back to 5.2.7.2 to justify the drop offset restriction.
  9. Interesting, may have to contact them. Looks wonky though.
  10. Interesting, in my head I thought this was not allowed, but under 8.6.1 safety warnings are specifically allowed by any RO at any time and do not count as interference. Always good to reread the rule book!
  11. Looks like the CZ Custom Accu bushing service would work, but that's not self-serve like the 10X bushing.
  12. Hadn't thought about that, that makes a lot of sense though since the barrel is at a much steeper angle then than during normal cycling.
  13. One of my shooting buddies convinced me that I should get one of CGW's 10x bushings for my SP-01 tactical suppressor ready to get the most out of it accuracy wise, but when I went to buy one I noticed that the description says: Why is this? Are the threaded barrels just slightly thicker so it does not have the play to tilt? It doesn't really make sense to me why the longer barrel would cause issues. Do any other companies make bushings that do work with threaded barreled SP-01s?
  14. The best way to start USPSA is to read the rule book, make sure you know the range commands/safety rules and can follow them, and then go shoot your first match with the goal of being safe and having fun. Here is the rulebook: https://uspsa.org/documents/rules/2019_USPSA_Competition_Rules.pdf Shoot whichever of your pistols you feel more comfortable with/have sufficient gear to make it through a match. Limited minor is always a good place to start because you can shoot just about any iron sighted pistol you have and you can load your existing mags to max capacity, so you should only need a holster, belt, pistol, two mag holders, and 3 mags to start. If you have 4+ mags for either of your pistols then Production class is an option as well (10 rounds per mag max so you need a minimum of 4 to make it through a 32 round stage but 5-6 is ideal for stage planning), but then you'll need mag holders for all of them which will be more expensive to start out.
  15. Get in contact with your congressman/woman and request they contact the ATF on your behalf to inquire on the status and why it is taking so long. 2 years is an unacceptably long time. The average wait time for Form 4s is under a year. https://www.nfatracker.com/nfa-transfer-time-tracking/ They'll ask you to fill out a form for a Congressional Inquiry. Many people have had luck getting their NFA items out of FBI purgatory this way, typically receiving approval within 1-2 weeks of their congressman receiving their information. It does require you to sign a privacy release, so if you are uncomfortable with that then you are stuck waiting. Below is an example of such a form that I found in this reddit thread about someone going through this process. https://gohmert.house.gov/uploadedfiles/privacy_release_form_for_casework.pdf Reddit thread:
  16. Thanks. Angle 3 does look weird and like it forces you into a lower grip since it sits below the screws. I'll probably pick up one of the angle 2s to try out.
  17. What *thumb rest [generic]*/thumb rest is that? It looks much more comfortable than the OEM one.
  18. CZC makes a 9mm one. I believe it is 1/2x28 thread, though they do not specify. https://czcustom.com/czc-brl-thrd-9mm-ts.html
  19. Just got them today and got 24+1 with a very easy reload and can almost fit in the 25th. I think once the springs wear in a little I will be able to get the 25th in, but I will probably trim a coil or two off anyways since 13 coils is overkill anyways. They measure to almost exactly 150mm with these on. Looks extremely goofy in my P-01 but worth the meme and should let me get through just about any stage with only needing to draw from the sidecar mag holder. Thankfully Double Alpha doesn't make a P-01 insert or I'd have no choice but to buy one of these https://www.umtactical.com/store/p3/UM3_Sight_Mount.html and run it with a dot from my Alpha-X rig. Edit: Actually just broke out the calipers and found out that it's just the upper part of the frame on the P-01 that is thicker than the SP-01 frame so the SP-01 insert should fit the P-01. Ooops.
  20. They have the long base pads back in stock, so I think I'll pick some up. Which "guts" were you referring to for the 25+1? The 13 coil spring + CZC follower? I'm assuming the standard 10 coil spring will not be sufficient, but does the 13 need to be cut down at all?
  21. Units are µg/dL, also written as mcg/dL, which is micro-grams per deciliter.
  22. BSPS has them in stock. https://benstoegerproshop.com/cz-czechmate-tac-sport-20-rd-magazine-in-9mm/
  23. Response from troy (in blue) @ATLDave @Poppa Bear. TL;DR: the black portion is hard cover, hardcover is impenetrable, score edge to edge. The only difference from my conclusion was that Troy says covering a target with another partial target is the same as painting the underlying (4.2.4.3) instead of covering it (4.1.4.1), but the result is still the same. I would still paint the underlying target or use a no-shoot just to make sure this rule is applied consistently at a match.
  24. I sent an email asking for clarification, we will see what Troy says.
  25. What division do you want to shoot in USPSA? The CR Speed holster will not be legal in USPSA Production, which is where the shadow 2 fits most naturally. I will second the RHT holster as well. I have one for my Production rig with the retention adjustment knobs and a drop offset (got this later but definitely worth getting it up front). The adjustment knobs are awesome because they let you loosen up for a smoother draw or crank down if you need to run with your pistol holstered. It's a $5 upgrade and well worth it.
