  1. This a forum about practical shooting, and i'm talking about rifles in a practical setting.
  2. So you’re saying that most rifles don’t use irons as their primary sighting system? Thanks for proving my point.
  3. I gotta say, I pretty much disagree with everything you’ve just said….. Just like you don’t see irons on rifles much anymore, in 10 years dots will be the default on handguns as well. We’re well on the way there now.
  4. I think you’d see a fairly similar split to what we currently see in limited. Paid shooters shooting plastic guns, and a good portion of everyone else using a 2011. It boils down to this, most any gun can be shot competitively, but it takes much more skill and time to shoot some guns on the same level as others. Also the difference in quality of sponsorship is huge, Canik pays Nils an actual salary to shoot. A sponsorship from a custom shop is a mediocre discount or free use of a gun if you’re really good. You can hardly blame the guy for going the route he is. He’s making a decent salary to do what he enjoys. Even if he’s artificially limiting his top performance in some divisions.
  5. A combo of both. A shooter of Nils talent has lesser gains, but I’d argue there is still a difference. It took Nils a couple years of shooting the canik before his match results caught up to what they had been previously. He was consistently 10% behind Max for the first couple years in CO.
  6. I’ve kind of been sitting back and watching this thread, and figure now it’s time to add my 2 cents.. For background, I’ve been shooting a P320 of some sort, in CO for the last 5 years. When LO was first announced, I just kind of shrugged my shoulders. My opinion at the time was, 2011s should just be added to CO. For a fun thing to do this offseason, I picked up a fairly high end 2011 and have been shooting it fairly regularly the last few weeks. I basically picked up the gun and was as good or better than I had been with a p320, with very little time behind the trigger. There is no question the 2011 is easier to shoot and it makes me a better shooter. How much is debatable. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the relative gain increase, the weaker the fundamentals and skill level of the shooter. All that said, how does this apply to LO? Well, my opinion is now that allowing 2011s in CO will invalidate most plastic guns. Most serious shooters will want every edge, real or perceived. People like to bring up Nils winning limited nationals with a canik. Nils is a hell of a shooter, but he’s paid to shoot a canik. He flat out would have won by 5%, instead of a fraction of a point, if he had been shooting a proper 2011 in major.
  7. Take a picture of the dot with your cell phone. Camera doesn’t distort like astigmatism can.
  8. Again. That’s mostly about the barrel itself. the build up I’m talking about is in a gap between the barrel crown and the sight block. You can’t really get at it without scraping on the crown, and I don’t think that’s a good idea. Shooting a jacketed bullet will do nothing for this, in fact it might push more buildup into the gap. what I was really looking for is someone that shoots a nemesis. And their experiences.
  9. This problem isn’t that. He’s talking about inside the barrel.
  10. There is no way to get scotch brite into the sightblock
  11. Section 16 for provisional divisions states that it can pretty much be implemented any time after a vote. It could enter USPSA as a provisional division as soon as the end of this month. That said, as written, the soonest LO could be a real division is Jan 31st 2025. If they implement provisional LO, there is a minimum 12 month trial period, which would go past the deadline to make it real on Jan 31 2024, Jan 31 2025 would be the next available date. If things go slow, it could be 2026 or 2027.
  12. Why do you say that, provisional divisions can be implemented any time the board wants to vote on it.
  13. I’ve been using romeo3s since they came out. Pretty much I get between 10-25k live rounds through the optic, and then it’ll have problems with the buttons. Generally I send it into sig, and it’s turned around in 2ish weeks. the button problem is something you can see coming a mile away. and it’s not something that will tank a match. So, I’ve just gotten into a routine with it.
  14. The buildup is right against the crown, which makes me nervous.
  15. I use sport pistol, which is supposedly made for coated bullets.

    Sig P320 AXG Legion

pretty much nowhere other than open. I could see people using it in 3 gun though
  17. I’m not really talking about inside the barrel. The problem I have is between the barrel crown and the sight block.
  18. I’ve been shooting an Atlas Artemis this winter. The Artemis has a sight block barrel. I’ve been shooting mostly blue bullets through it. The problem is, I’ve been getting hella lead and coating build up between the barrel crown and the sight block. I’m afraid to really dig at it because I don’t want to damage the barrel crown. anyone have any tips, or experience with this?
  19. Wow! I’ll be sure to give your opinion serious consideration!
  20. It’s almost certainly the mags. Sig doesn’t care about a few thousands of tolerance. The mags are also made by a couple different manufacturers.
  21. All my older mags with tti had no issues.
  22. So you would rely on the RM at a random level 2, to ignore the rule book?
  23. That has zero to do with if your mags will fit the gauge. It’s a well known fact that OEM 21 round sig mags may not pass the gauge. To ignore this before going to a major is pretty foolish.
  24. I recently bought some new mag tubes and taran base pads. They didn’t fit. I had to file the mag lips to get them legal.
  25. I got it direct from sig as a warranty repair.
