Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. The measurement that Dillon gives you for the height of the primer feed rod is wrong. I had the same problem on my SDB. Pull the primer system out, loosen the adjustment screw, compress the primer feed rod to the lowest setting, and re tighten the screw. The problem for me went away immediately. I've used the SDB for about 10 years have loaded thousands upon thousands of rounds. My problem also started suddenly. The Dillon tech on phone told me this fix. Dave sent from Nokia 920
  2. I have a CZ75B SA in 40 that I used for several years in L10. The best modification you can do is to replace the hammer. It made a huge and dramatic change in the SA pull. You can adjust trigger weight by the main spring and the trigger spring. Dave
  3. If you're still getting flipped or upside down primers after making that mount solid. Then the next problem could be the timing. The primer cup could be hitting the underside of the shell holder just enough to flip the primers. Ask me how I know..... Anyway the cure for me wasn't adjusting the little timing screw on the side of the ram. Take the primer slide assembly out of the press. Dillon lists a primer punch rod 13967 height that is wrong. The technician didn't say it was wrong but he said to make the rod much shorter until it doesn't hit the under side of the shell holder. You accomplish this by loosening the primer punch set screw 13823, but be careful if you loosen it too much the primer punch rod will fly off. Now compress the primer punch rod in either a c clamp or vice and it is bottomed out in the primer slide assembly. Then retighten the primer punch set screw too hold the rod at its lowest setting. On my press this was much lower than the Dillon listed specification but it stopped the primer feed problems. The technician at Dillon told me not to get hung up on that number because who cares as long as it works. Even with the solid mount last month I started to suddenly experience a lot of the failures you describe. At a rate higher than 10 per 100 so it was a real problem. I think that the primer punch set screw had come loose and the primer punch rod had slide out to its maximum length. When I retightened it, I used the length listed in the Dillon SDB manual. It was much too long. I hope this helps you. Dave Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  5. The only thing I can add as a long term user of the SDB is what I've found that has helped me with respect to the reliability of the primer system. I originally had my SDB mounted without a strong mount to a work bench. There was a lot of movement of the whole press when I used it. In that configuration I would have about two to three primers in one hundred that would end up loaded upside down or even side ways. So I added the strong mount and that helped. Then I rebuilt the work bench with much heavier plywood and that helped. Now I always try to work the ram very smoothly and deliberately. That coupled with the other changes I now have very few primer misfeeds. If I'm having a particularly bad day I'll have a failure rate of maybe one or two in five hundred. My caveat is that this has been with the small primer system only. Dave Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. I had to use same powder with 9mm Bayou Bullets 124gr. The powder shortage has got me using whatever I have left. The load I got from someone I shoot with was 1.15" OAL and 3.8 grain TG from a CZ SP01. It is supposed to be making 133 to 135 PF. I've shot that load, it was very accurate, and it felt right. But be warned I didn't chronograph it yet. Dave Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. I have a Lee 4 station turret press and a SDB. I've used the SDB for my competition needs for seven years. It just works. So I see no need buy anything else. When I start having to reload rifle calibers in larger quantities I'll keep my SDB and add a 650 if that tells you anything. Dave Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Grips

I've used the thin aluminum grips with tape for years on my CZ75BSA for L10 division. I recently switched to production division and am using a SP01 now. I decided to use Hogue Extreme Aluminum grips for the SP01 And like them so far. They have a less square felling grip than the thin aluminum but are still thin enough for me use the trigger well. I do have small to medium sized hands. Dave Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Who made the upper? I'm looking at uppers without the extras for a build. I really it. It's a simple AR15. Dave Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Let's go Pens. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. I put the little spring thingy that ejects the cartridge from the last station on the outside of the center screw one time. It took about a hundred rounds for to figure it out. But the press would feel it was hanging up about half through the cycle. I don't know that's your problem but it's really quick and to check. Dave Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. About $447. Dave Sent from my Nokia 920 using Tapatalk
  13. I was trying to find on ongoing source for them, Thanks for your offer. Has anyone here used cheycast before? Dave
  14. Does anyone make them that ya'll know of? Thanks, Dave
  15. I use the one TK custom used to sell. Very impressive piece of machine work. As it should be for $75. But it works really well and quickly. I had a spider (Moon clip with empty cases) on ground that shall I say a heavier person stepped squished. I had to pry it open to get the empty cases out of it. I used the moon clip straightener tool and now couldn't even pick out which one it was. Dave
