  1. My new one in Clarke county took less than two months. Sadly I moved to MO and now I have to take a class. I have been told I have to be able to put 15 of 20 rds on a B-27 target at 7 yds (I think I am going to try for 20 rds within the 9 ring in under 10 secs). I do feel your pain about the GA thing I have heard that Fulton and Chatham were pretty slow counties to get permits.
  2. That has been attempted. It didnt work quite right. Many garage door openers have an auto-shut off system that renders the system useless if the "door" is opened too many times in a given time period. Brings the match to a hault. however for practice you can do some cool stuff with a door opener and some pulleys.

    Idpa Box

Who made the box is pointless. Look at the demintions of most 1911's the box just happens to be sized for a standard 1911 5" with thin double safties and a modest magwell. So, it seems to me it is just a box that the standard 1911 fits in, no titles needed.
  4. Brazos The only place I have seen standard mags tuned for sale. Look at what Bob uses i am sure he uses the best stuff for the job.
  5. Whoa Black Betty, Bam a lam. Whoa, Black Betty! Couldnt help myself. I would say that I love BE.com Some of the other forums are too elitist and I can't stand it. One of the ones I used to read if you ever mentioned another brand or using none factory parts you were instantly flamed. However, I wont say we are the best because some people are insecure and need others to tell them that their guns are the best. If I needed someone to tell me how to be a better mall ninja or couch commando I would go somewhere else. Same reason I dont shop at mast gun shops. Thank you Brian and Mods.
  6. The forum has 8715 memebers. If their birthdays were distributed randomly (ignoring social factors for high birthday months) then it would come out to a little less than 24 birthdays every day. However I would bet that the vast majority do not list their birthday on their profiles. So, 8 is an awesome number.
  7. What did that poor stuffed animal do? I mean really did you have to tape the baby up to the wall to watch the hanging of its most beloved toy? Good stuff. Saving this one to the desktop.
  8. 10 out of 10. Vlad: good job. I would bet that getting into America to take the test is pretty hard to do as well. Always happy to see people that love US enough to join US.
  9. Wow, that is pretty scary. He needs to work on his grip because I think he might have limp wristed that one.
  10. Using my IDPA gear including the vest at a 7yd target. 1.5 for the draw 1.5-1.75 on the reload. Reload is that long cause I only load one in the gun so I go to slide lock a la IDPA reload rules. Times are the same with my STI ESP/Limited gun. I am not smooth enough with my technique that my equipment matters yet. I am partial to the USP mag release though. I think it is just as fast for me as my STI but safer in general because I am forced to use my trigger finger to release. I know it has a high bore axis. However, I still think it shoots softer than any SS 1911 I have ever fired. JoeD makes a point for me, Ernest Langdon won the Nats CDP a couple of years ago with a Sig. High bore axis doesnt matter as much as everyone wants it to esp. in IDPA. Buying mags is no big deal. I have paid more for STI mags but the thing is the HK mags always fun flawless. With enough practice any gun(with in reason and rules) can be seriously competative.
  11. So you can't make silk purses out of glocks but what about HKs. couldnt resist I shoot a USP in idpa for CDP and it does quite well. Bruce Grey does work on HKs last time I checked and the factory match trigger is plenty good for me. I see no reason why a USP couldnt do well in IDPA indian arrow thingy again. I can shoot the snot out of mine. I shot my first sub2.5 all As bill drill with that gun. I think you dont see them in the sport often is that not many people buy USPs and Hk doesnt exactly market to the sport or civilians very well my $.02
  12. You can usually fix zippers with a pair of pliers. If it has a metal zipper ad teeth. You have to slightly squeeze all sides together. (top to bottom, side to side on both bottom and top) Be careful though squeeze too had and you will break the zipper. It is a little trick I learned at NOLS for dealing with tent zippers in the backcountry. Hope this helps make you bag last longer.
  13. TGO has knee issues and I think he does pretty well with the limited guns...
  14. Cause there is no such thing as a Glock40? Maybe to point out the stupidity of claiming a gun that doesnt exist?
  15. Heck, if it was legal I might put one on my limited gun. Easier table starts. If you do have a jam or other problem I think it makes it easier to clear (no missing the grip on the slide or acidentally covering the ejection port). The gun can be built perfectly but the gunsmith cannot control your ammo, mags, dirtyness of the gun, etc. jams can and do happen to all types guns no matter how well built. I say put one on there. As far as the lefty thing goes: EGW makes a few that are like the AR and some reversable ones too. Here Rock River makes some. Here Brownells has one. Here Hope this helps.
  16. I see no reason why the recoil master is not legal. It's a factory part. HK runs a very similar recoil system in the USP. There is no rule in the book that states that this type of guiderod if unacceptable. It weighs less than an all steel FLGR (which are permitted). Furthermore, the gun itself definatly complies with IDPA's principles, it is designed for carry. I don't think anyone that shoots IDPA will get on to you about shooting a gun designed for carry. No one is going to be asking you to take apart the gun to see you guiderod system. Besides, the RM doesnt reduce the recoil it only makes it feel different. It meets all the criteria for ESP so buy one and shoot it like crazy. Looks like a good gun to me.
  17. p. 29 of the rule book is the chrono proceedure. 3 rds out of a gun with the max bbl length (4" in your case) 2 out of 3 must be above the floor. I would recomend trying to get all of your ammo around or above 130pf hope this helps
  18. CR Speed has one. http://www.rescomp.co.za/speed_holsters.htm Scroll to the bottom of the page.
  19. He actualy claims on his website that he cracked a glock frame because his stance/grip is too rock solid. Claims how great the shooting is based on tests at two yards. Two yards... might as well use the inverted egret cause I dont think it matters that much at that distance. This one time at rock solid camp I actually cracked a mountian because my fists are too solid... I need to stock up on black gloves this chirstmas.. cause I am going to wear out several pairs when I go to the mall for shopping after reading some of these websites.
  20. Wow! It seems to defy all logic. The airport can catch the 48 cents in change that i got from buying a pack of gum but not a gun. You would think that if there was a mainstream firearm that could pass though airport security they would be doing more than having us take off our shoes. I heard someone I respected claim glocks could go though the airport security a couple of years ago, I was quick to correct him.
  21. I would fly to Vegas just to "compete against these guys. Well that and I have never been to Vegas. I might be a high C but I still think I could take them based on what I've seen. Man, it baffles me what some people think of themselves.
  22. Best line of the whole thing: See, touch it. Lets all put our fingers in the end of our barrels so we can see how hot they are!?!?!?!?!?
  23. That video displays a special kind of stupid. I am confused, I did not know I was supposed to have my mags right next to my holster. I see people like this and i want to take there guns and put them on a time out. This is what happens when you let people play video games, they think they can do it in real life.
