  1. I shoot CO with an M&P and a DPP, Open with a 2011 and frame mounted DPP, and carry an M&P with an RMR for work. The sights are all different heights (some only slight), but I haven't had any issues finding the dot no matter which gun is in my hand. I know some people do though. Like most things, you'll have to try it and find out for yourself. For the OP's question, I like them both equally. Open is faster with the comps, frame mounted dots, and major scoring. CO is fun because the guns and magazines don't have issues and minor scoring makes it slightly more challenging. The only thing making me hang on to my open gun is that there are 30-40 open shooters per weekly match and only about 7-8 CO shooters.
  2. Glad to see so many metal heads. Most people have no idea what I'm talking about when I mention parkway drive, for today, killswitch, Amon Amarth, becoming the archetype, in flames, etc.
  3. Carry/duty guns have RMR's. CO guns have DPP 7.5 moa. I have a vortex venom sitting around somewhere. While I'm a vortex fanboy, I think the DPP blows the venom out of the water.
  4. I have 5" and 4.25" M&P's with dots. There is a very slight difference in the feel of the recoil but the dot tracks the same for me.
  5. I wouldn't recommend this. Seems like you could slow the slide down with your index finger and induce a malfunction. Also, it seems you could push the gun around with your index finger on the frame. It would provide a terrible grip that's not consistent with a normal grip. Lastly, just no.
  6. Weber tactical makes a great one. I have an extra because I accidentally ordered two if you're interested.
  7. I shoot an M2 from accurate iron. The package includes a lightened bolt. It's the most reliable shotgun I've ever owned. It eats walmart winchester bulk packs all day long.
  8. Cheap 7.5 1200fps value packs from wally-world are the primary thingy I feed my M2. Could probably go to 1145 or so but the Walmart stuff is the right price and I've never had an issue.
  9. I use a blade tech on a boss hanger which is compatible with els.
  10. What shooterdrew said. I have RMR's on my duty and off duty guns. DPP on CO gun. An RMR on a CO gun wouldn't be a huge issue though.
  11. My duty gun is a CORE with an RMR. The RMR is smaller and fits in the cut out of the core slide better. However, I can't tell the slightest difference when using each gun. I suppose a millimeter or so could effect some people, but I wouldn't let it be a deal breaker. If you want to spend more money getting custom milling or you just like tinkering then have a blast. If you want to put the sight on your gun and shoot, the leupold plate is the easiest solution.
  12. Leupold released a mount specifically for the DPP on the core. Works great.
  13. I'd like to use a CO gun as that is what my duty gun is and what I shoot in uspsa. If 3gun allowed it, I'd use it. I don't want to shoot open because I'm not allowed to have a decent open shotgun in this state nor do I really want one. I like the shotgun and pretty much all the rules in tactical better than open. Just wish I could use a dot on my pistol.
  14. I believe so. It just uploads everything from the magneto speed. I've only bothered to upload twice. Each time I have a ton of series from multiple range trips. When I was worried I'd get lost due to the high number of loads, I transferred it to my computer and reset the series to one. I followed the same process the second time and transferred series 1 (the new one) through whatever I had the second time. The data opens with excel (or Numbers in my case with a mac).
  15. I don't claim to be a pro, but I've been using one for a few years. I do it as you described. I do one load then archive it. The next load will be the next series and so on. The memory in the unit can save a ton of series so you don't have to dump it all immediately. I have done several trips and just note that series "X" is load "Y" and so on. When you transfer the info to your computer, each series is shown separately with it's one SD, ES, and so on. When you reset the series to 1, I believe it will delete the rest of the info on there but I haven't done it in a while so don't quote me.
  16. I got the Nordic PCC last week. Put 300 rounds through it without issue. Haven't shot it in a match yet. Worth a look.
  17. Update: I sent the sight back to Leupold a few weeks ago. I got it back last night and shot it on the same gun today. No issues with zeroing. The return form said they replaced the glass and checked internals. Glad I wasn't crazy and that Leupold made it right.
  18. I thought about that too but considering the plate is made for this specific gun, I figured it shouldn't need a shim.
  19. Yeah, didn't use loctite yet and there aren't any burs or anything preventing it from sitting flush. Looks like I'll be calling Leupold.
  20. The one Leupold released to work with the core. The website calls it a dovetail mount but it's not as the picture shows. http://www.opticsplanet.com/v/171203-leupold-deltapoint-pro-dovetail.html
  21. I bought a Delta Point Pro and the plate that allows it to be mounted to a core. It all fits together perfectly. When I tried to zero it, I can't get the POI low enough. The elevation screw is bottomed out and the impacts are still about 3"-4" above the tip of the triangle. I have tried factory ammo and minor reloads with the same result. Has anyone else had this issue?
  22. I agree they look goofy with the tube sticking past the barrel but it's the norm in 3gun since a 12 round tube is the most common. So i agree, if the barrel isn't sticking past a 12 round tube, you aren't hurting anything other than adding a few ounces of weight with a longer barrel.
  23. I shoot a 26" M2 in 3 gun with a 12 round tube. The go to seems to be 24" I got a good deal on the 26" and went with it. I have not seen any negatives with the 26" at all. The tube is still several inches past the barrel so other than a few ounces of weight, there's very little difference. 24" and 21" still seem to outnumber 26" but 26" isn't looked at funny anymore. I'd suspect the 30" would be similar. The way I see it, if the tube still sticks past the barrel (as in you aren't adding more overall length to the gun with the barrel) and you can handle the weight, it shouldn't be a huge issue.
  24. I agree with the small maxwell and would add the ability to change the trigger.
  25. I'd like to see a 2 gun or even 3 gun factory or tactical type division that allowed a carry optics gun.
