  1. Finally got it hardchromed and worthy enough to post it here. It is a STI 9mm built by Matt Cheely.
  2. Almost ready to throw my hat in the ring for Open Class. Just needs a AR style safety, mid-barrel comps, and chokes
  3. If you want a vent rib, contact Poly Choke. They cut off the cantilever and front sight on my stock barrel and installed a vent rib for around $200 if I remember correctly. Pics of it are in the gallery under the competition shotguns thread.
  4. The 90's had OJ Simpson, 2000's had Michael Jackson, and now the 10's have Casey Anthony. All have something in common...
  5. I've been using 180 Bear Creek moly coated lead with 4.0 grains of clays loaded to 1.190 and make major in my 6" gun
  6. Here's my FN SLP MK1. Yes look again, it's a 22" SLP with a vent rib. It is the stock barrel. I sent it to Poly Choke who cut off the front sight and cantilever and installed a vent rib. It dropped a bit of weight and the sight picture is so much better. I also had the lifter welded up and slotted, added Nordic extended bolt release and bolt handle with a Briley extended IC choke. Also sent the piston out to SRM to have it sealed and installed their Surecycle system. This thing rocks.
  7. Benny Hill 6" Fat Free with Ion Bond.
  8. SV makes a raised mag catch which can be ordered drilled and tapped
  9. I've been reloading pistol rounds for years and the general idea behind that is to load just above power factor with a comfortable margin to not go under so that you can keep the recoil to a minimum. I am now starting to load .223 for 3 gun and am wondering what is the best strategy. Do most load just over power factor to keep recoil to a minimum or load it hotter to keep trajectories flatter for the longer shots? Thanks
  10. Disregard my post I guess. I'm an idiot. Serves me right for going off of numbers by memory. I guess I didn't screw it up as bad as I thought. Anyways, I just measured the brass again (I really need to pay attention to ALL of the numbers instead of the just the last two on the digital micrometer) and they measure 1.736-1.742. This is still shorter than what everyone on here trims too. Is this still workable, or is it too short?
  11. I am new to reloading rifle (as you will soon find out) and am starting with .223. I got the RCBS X Die and the instructions said size then trim to 0.020 under max case length. Well, somewhere along the line I thought it said trim that amount under normal trim to length. Did some research and came up with a trim to length of 1.60. Again somewhere along the line I messed up with the numbers and trimmed all my brass 0.20 under 1.60 so I have roughly 1500 pieces of once fired brass with a length of 1.38-1.40. Is this too short and now useless. Right now I have 1500 62gr bullets with no cannelure that I was planning on using with this brass.
  12. Nope that's not it. These are from the belt, stacked vertically.
  13. Anybody know who makes the stacked shotshell holders seen in the Noveske shooting video? It is at 0:41 http://noveskerifleworks.com/cgi-bin/imcart/display.cgi?item_id=nstdvd&cat=147&page=1
  14. What Are the dimensions of the slot Down the middle of the fn slp lifter after it has been welded up? Im going to be doing it but don't know what the length and width is. Thanks for the help
  15. Turnaround was about three weeks or so and it cost $225 with shipping back to me.
  16. Just got my SLP back from Poly Choke. They cut off the cantilever and front sight and then added the vent rib and front bead. It took off a bit of weight and the sight picture is much better, like a shotgun should be. Now I just need to find some range time to shoot it.
  17. I'm thinking of building a 9mm limited gun on a caspian hi-cap frame. What is the capacity of the 9mm 140 mags with grams guts? Would the EAA mags from hennings be a good option for this?
  18. The problem is that 4" back from the muzzle the barrel tapers down which is not wide enough to rethread for invector plus chokes and because the barrel is backbored many standard chokes won't work either. Briley told me that they would have to use one of their proprietary chokes which would be expensive. When 00bullitt cut down his SX3 they had to swell the new muzzle to accept invector plus chokes and cost approximately $280 and that place had bad customer service and I believe that they are now out of business. (00bullitt you can correct me if I'm wrong)
  19. Well I found out that cutting down a 26" barrel SLP and rethreading for chokes would be close to $300 not including the price of the barrel, so I am trying to think of another way to get a 22" barrel with a vent rib. Is it possible to cut off the cantilever and front sight and add a vent rib to the barrel that came with the SLP? And who would you recommend to do it?
  20. Just called Brownells, it expires March 21.
  21. Yes I can move the sights. But I am just wondering if there is a flaw in my shooting that I can correct, so I can fix the bigger problem
  22. They have their own mounting system so without modification it will only accept the tube that comes with it. There is a guy on who makes an adapter so that you can mount any normal handguard. The adapter can be found at tacticool22.com
  23. Yes the groups are tight and it happens while from a bench and standing. I'll try the mirror trick to see it is canted at all.
  24. I don't think that is it. Less than a year ago a Dr said I had 20/15 vision.
