  1. I don't see any information about the ft benning match. Did they stop doing it? I know this used to be one of the most anticipated matches of the year
  2. Here is some more footage from this past weekend
  3. I'm not sure if it's the ones in sporting good stores. It was just over a $100 online.
  4. His stage times are going to suffer from carrying the table around though. Actually it is a file cabinet, he's going to need a dolly! And I did not see any belt loops in those PJs for his inner CR Speed. Nice technique though! I wish I had hands big enough for the quad load but I will be lucky to master the 2X. I have odered but am waiting on some dummy shells and a Chameleon load two belt. I hope to have a new plan and skill for the match the end of this month! I'll have to empty the filing cabinet... once it looses some weight my times won't suffer as much as you think from carrying it around And I know the PJ's are the best looking thing but hey, it was my day off, and when I relax, I RELAX haha. And I will definitely post more videos once I get the FSL system, but it looks like the FSL12, the one I ordered, is on backorder. And don't worry all you guys in Tac Optics... I'm shooting Open at Nationals next week hahaha (yeah like I'd have a chance anyway)
  5. I have the MTAC 1.5-6 as well. I ordered the 42mm XP-6 scopecoat as well and it fits perfectly. I tried the 1-4x cattail on the 1.5-6 and it does not fit. The 1-4 is slightly undersized to fit. If you were brave enough I'm sure that if you used a dremel and removed some material from the inside of the 1-4 cattail you could get it to fit the 1.5-6. I say this because the 1-4 cattail is completely smooth on the inside, there are no detents or indentations... at least the one from C. Drissel doesn't
  6. I saw the post about the Quad load the other day and decided to try it out. Since I don't have the FSL caddies yet, I placed the rounds on top of each other on a nearby surface. I know my time will change once I load from the caddy (which is on order) but here is what it looks like with a little bit of practice.
  7. Thanks Mark I will do that. Our 4 load guy just did following. Option 3 start gun totally empty and start position normal standing stock touching body at hip level. From start signal Load 8 rounds and shoot 8 poppers down 5.87 sec. First popper down at 3.67 sec. Ps. He can do those 4 loads on run also. (not that fast of course) Any videos of him doing the reloads?
  8. The 'time-plus'-time for a stage is raw-time + penalties - enhanced value target (if there are any enhanced value targets, these points/sec will be subtracted to give you a better score). All time-plus stage have 100p (and the time-plus time can be max 500sec or min 0 sec). The shooter with smallest time-plus time on a stage wins the stage and get 100% or 100p. Lets say if a shooter has a time-plus time of 20.5 sec and this is the best (smallest for the stage), if another competitor gets a time-plus time of 27,3 sec this will give him/her a percentage of 20.5/27.3 = 75.09% or 75.09p for the stage. Then from stage --> match you add points to match points, highest match points get 100% and so on... / Jens Ok, I understand it now, but can someone explain the benefit of doing the percentage points of the stage? The reason why I ask is because one of my friends who is no doubt a very top notch shooter was below another very top notch shooter in a match. My friend shot a very solid consistent match, while the other shooter smoked a lot of stages but on two stages had gun problems which did not allow him to finish both stages costing him several hundred seconds in penalties. The shooter that had the gun problems finished higher in the overall scores than my friend who shot very well and consistent. Can someone explain this to me?
  9. I use a Blade-Tech WRS holster with a retention hood. My open gun for Multigun is an M&P with a Deltapoint milled into the slide. The hood is tall enough that when it rotates forward it clears the scope easily. With a hood on the holster I can do somersaults, cartwheels, backflips and trip and tumble over props and there is NO chance of the gun coming out.
  10. What rule changes would have made you decide whether or not to shoot the M&P Open Gun? The change from power factor scoring to time plus scoring rules out having to make major so shooting the M&P in minor will not be a disadvantage Do you see any performance differences between the open STI and the open M&P gun? And why did you switch to the M&P for an open gun? An STI open gun is still the way to go for Open pistol shooting because of many reasons including the weight makes it flatter and softer. The reason I switched to the M&P for Open Multigun is because it has no safeties that I will have to worry about engaging before dumping it as well as not worrying about the safety being knocked off after being dumped. I also got the Blade Tech WRS holster and remolded the front to accept the comp, so now I have a very fast holster with a hood to secure the gun so there are NO possibilities of it ever coming out accidentally. And yes the hood is tall enough that it rotates far enough out of the way to clear the Deltapoint If I like the slide mounted DP on my open gun, I'll probably put one my on my self-defense 45. Every couple of years, I get interested in the slide mounted dot. It finally seems like the improvement in mini-red dot reliability has made the slide mount a viable option for both competition and self-defense.
  11. Ok, so I understand the 1A or two on target concept, is Time plus scoring. But is the end result/final score your total time with raw time plus penalties? Or is the top shooter of the stage rewarded with 100 percent/points and everyone else is awarded percentage points from the top shooter on that particular stage?
  12. Yes I have. I have an STI open gun with a 45 degree mount. The door tracking on the slide mounted optic is different but not by much. It is still very easy for me to track the dot on the slide mounted optic, on this gun at least. I didn't get a chance to make it to Superstition, but with the rule changes, I will definitely be shooting it at nationals
  13. I am looking to bolt a small section of rail onto my carbon arms free float tube. Can someone recommend a small section of rail and where to get? Thanks
  14. That portion of the barrel needs to be welded up and extended back so the shells can't catch on it
  15. Yeah, I have one 170mm mag with a Taylor basepad. It holds 28 rounds if I squeeze the last one in there and the 140mm mags holds 23 rounds
  16. Its a Storm Lake barrel that is designed for the M&P Carver comp. I got both from speed shooters specialties. Bowie Tactical milled the slide for the 3.5 moa Deltapoint, which looks only slightly smaller than a 6moa Cmore. My buddy milled the lightening slots. I did the entire trigger job with Apex springs with a SSS sear and its down to a crisp 2.5lbs. I shot it today a or local match with minor ammo and freaking loved it. I still need to test it with major ammo for those spinners in Multigun
  17. Yeah. It covered a bit less than half of the glass on the red dot. Now with the short turrets you can still see them but the are out of the way enough that its acceptable. Fyi i'm using a Warne RAMP mount with the integral 45 degree mount. A different mount may get it out of the way more.
  18. Just finished building my M&P open gun which I'll be using for Multigun matches. Shot it today and it shoots like a champion. SMM3G and Multigun Nationals is gonna be fun with this one.
  19. I recently purchased a Burris MTAC 1.5-6x for Open Division for Multigun. When I mounted it up along with a Burris Fastfire on a 45 degree mount I noticed that the tall turret of the 1.5-6 protruded into my field of view of the Fastfire. I called Burris to see if they could put shorter turrets on their to get it out of the view of the red dot. I was told to do it and the turn around time would be 3-4 weeks. I told them that I was planning on using it for SMM3G and that timeline would be cutting in close. I was told to put a note in the box with the deadline and when I asked how much it would cost to switch the turrets, they said, "We'll take care of you." I sent it in with a note of when I needed it back by which was approximately 3 weeks. I tracked my package and saw that it was delivered on a Monday to Burris. When I got home from work on Tuesday, to my complete surprise I had a package from Burris on my doorstep. So not only did Burris change the turrets for me at no charge, they completed the job the day they received the package and then overnighted it back to me on their dime. I can not say how happy I am with their customer service and due to me owning 2 MTAC's, 1 TAC30 and 2 Fastfires, that shows how happy I am with their products. I will continue to buy and support Burris in the future.
  20. I just submitted my registration. What rules/scoring will be used at this match?
  21. I have heard and seen issues with these with ammo loaded slightly long. They are more OAL sensitive than 30rd aluminum and PMAGs. I think the max OAL for the Surefire mags might be around 2.250". Any longer than that you may run into some issues. The way I came up with that length is, I had some rounds loaded at 2.245 and ran hundreds of rounds through it flawlessly. The last batch of ammo was loaded at 2.255 and at the Winter Classic I had on round not get stripped out of the mag. I didn't look to see what was going on since I was on the clock, but I assumed it hung up a bit and didn't pop up. I also saw my buddies mag run fine throughout a whole match but when he switched to longer loaded 68gr bullets for a long range steel stage, the mag turned into a maraca.
  22. Has anyone done a head to head comparison between the Titan and Firebird comp? I know the article a few years ago by P. Kelly was really good at comparing a lot of the comps out there, but the Firebird was not out at that time. So has anybody compared those two?
  23. I am planning on adding a +2 extension to my SLP. With the additional length, will it need a tube clamp? If so, is there a clamp that fits the extension tube on the SLP since it is a thicker diameter than others? Thanks
  24. Central California Pistol League has two matches a month. They are on the 2nd Sunday and 4th Saturday of each month. Hope to see you out there.
