  1. Well that does not solve things either. It has affected the shooters time and then could be SO interference be issuing nonstandard range commands during the corse of fire. Reshoot would be in order.
  2. I don't really see it with the rule book the way it is written. I have seen 175PF .45 loads knock the calibration off for a popper where the next major load would leave the steel standing. I just shot a sanctioned match where the steel was never painted(not even at the start). It would have been a tough pill to swallow if they called a miss on steel when you heard a ding. The current rule leaves things unclear and for HQ to say it's up to the MD is no solution. I just want it out there to make people aware that by the book it is range equipment failure and = a reshoot.
  3. I think they are all dependent on the individuals perception and what has/is going on in their lives. Having grown up in the mountains, my most beautiful natural sight is the sun rising on the south Georgia coast in December while I'm watching it from my boat wearing a tshirt and shorts. I have a pic somewhere if I can find it.
  4. No, they are not correct. There is nothing in the rules to prevent that.
  5. Well, I'm sold and hooked on the M&P40 now. I've had a borrowed gun for about 2-3 weeks now. I shot the IDPA Florida-Georgia Border Disorder with it yesterday. I was only a couple of brain fades away from not only winning my class, but the division as well. There is a night and day difference in my shooting with this gun. Needless to say the guy I borrowed the gun from now has to go buy a new one for himself
  6. While that sounds great, that piece of steel should have been tossed as faulty or replaced with one that was not. "sucking it up" is never a good solution. Remember saying it's the same for everyone is not an acceptable answer.
  7. St. Augustine Florida is having a three gun match that Sat. and you might find another Sunday match to the south.
  8. Merlin, It's hard to beat the Blade Tech holster with the stingray belt slide. In just about 2 minutes you can convert it to DOH and then back to IDPA legal.
  9. Nice solution. It is pretty nitpicky. The only time there's a problem is when you have to go prone. Your stance changes and you can't see anything ask my how I found out
  10. Switch to sun glasses and put the tape on the inside.
  11. It depends on how long you stay. Shooting is done by 3 ish Then the shoot offs. Awards never start until dark. Year before last the Daytona 500 finished about the time we wrapped it up at the range.

    My Mom Is Ill

Nemo, I hate to hear about that. Our prayers are with your family. Anything we can do here at home while your out just let me know. Take care.
  13. O.K., but your book is apparently not the rule book. There is no reference to a clipping hit or anything else. I guess painting between shooters would tell the tale. Any type of hit and the steel still standing would have to be a reshoot. No gameyness to it. Rulings for a GAME must be based on the rule book not someone's personal book.
  14. Because of the lack of steel many IDPA only guys don't realize how heavy they set the steel. By the rules I would have to argue with the fresh coat of paint telling the story. Any hit showing on the steel and it still standing would have to be a range failure and a reshoot issued. Good hits and bad hits can not be called. It either hit the steel and it fell or it hit the steel and did not fall thus a reshoot. That's the point here, since there is no procedure spelled out in the rules and the benefit of the doubt goes to the shooter, we need to remember that and not try to impose our bias from the other sports that we shoot.
  15. But that is not in the rule book. If it did fall, what rule would you base your decision on? The IDPA rule book also states that when something is questionable the ruling goes in favor of the shooter.
  16. O.K. I have just reread the rule book again and I still see two statements that contradict themselves ( I know there are more than two, but I can live with most of the others) and have no explanation for a solution. Remember this is IDPA NOT USPSA. C-11 on pages 9 & 10 state that reshoots are allowed for range equipment failures and SO interference. So steel targets are range equipment But on page 75 section C. Steel it says that steel targets not hit or knocked down incur the 2.5 sec miss and a FTN penalty for a total of 7.5 seconds of penalty. O.K. I have all of that straight, but the rule book does not include anything anywhere about how to handle a steel target that is hit, but not knocked down. There is no calibration shot spelled out, no mention of it being considered a range malfunction, no mention of how to handle this situation. When it happens in a match a USPSA shooter calls for a calibration shot, but that is not in the IDPA rule book. Is there a ruling on this from headquarters?
  17. If it's a roll pin what do you do when it comes loose?

    Max Ovl In 40 S&w

I worked up a load at 1.150 that makes major and groups well in all of my guns. That includes a G22, G35, STI edge, eagle and trojan. It does not matter which gun I want to shoot, the ammo is ready.
  19. Why not call? I called a couple of years ago about a Glock barrel and we talked for almost an hour about what the problem could be. Seemed like a nice guy.

    Happiness Fairy

I have a larger copy, but was not sure about posting due to some language. What's the rule here about that?
  21. Seen it here many times and am guilty myself. Sometimes in the heat of the summer the RO might get tounge tied so I'll just start the process and wait til the RO catches up. Now at a big match I tend to wait, because some people get wound a bit tight(myself included).
  22. Yeah, that one is fun. I reshot it with the open blaster and shot it in 4 sec. Good bye C-class
  23. +3 on the S&A magwell. My Trojan fits perfect in my CR speed holster just like my widebody STI does. A Blade tec DOH is nice also.
  24. Do IDPA shooters really have to wait for the corrections? Can't you simply weigh the pistol. If it makes weight, shoot it.
  25. Well, since I keep about 5K loaded rounds for each gun I can't go by that. I sometimes spend the whole week between matches trying to decide. I once shot 5 different matches in the same month with 5 different guns in four different divisions. Now with single stack, I have two more guns to choose from. I tried to say that I'd shoot one gun for the entire year, but that was just so hard I gave up on that idea. Maybe I can stay with open for next year. I don't know, guns were made to shoot, not sit in the safe. If you figure out how to solve this let me know. And no, selling a gun is not an option.
