  1. Here are my 3-gun photos.
  2. I put one on my Para p-16. It needed it, and it worked great. I never had an accidental mag drop with a pistol. Thats a problem with practice and technique. I use a S&A ambi mag release on my single stack and that is nice also. very easy to hit with trigger finger and the thumb side is regular size. My current limited gun came from the factory with an extended and slightly oversize button and it works great. I think extended is better than bigger in diamater for my hand size.
  3. I have tried both on my M1A NM. The smith was a bit shorter in length than the springfield, but my gun would not group worth a darn with it. Stock set up would shoot 1" groups at 100, I could not even hold the upper A/B with the smith comp. No sign of bullets rubbing on the way out or anything like that. The springfield worked fine and did not change accuracy as much. After changing back and forth I went back to the factory flash hider as the differance on the full sized M1A was not as much as expected and accuracy was the best with the flash hider. It aint gonna tame it like a break on an AR. These brakes may be more noticably effective on the shorter barreled socom and scout models. My choice would be springfield brake as it is better priced and seemed equally effective.
  4. Listed pistols because they were in the photos
  5. 007 with a Glock? Next thing you know they will have him driving a FORD. Oh wait wasn't one of the cars a FORD he was driving in Casino Royal? Darn what is the world of James Bond coming too. At least the ladies are still exotic. I also would favor the HK P7M8. I carried a PSP version for many years and it was about as perfect a carry gun as I have ever owned.
  6. It was not the Walther PPK. I recieved a collection of 007 movies for Christmas and immediately watched Dr. No from 1962. Early on in the movie M asked Bond for his gun and James handed him a Berreta for which he was chastized for using a gun with no stopping power and was unreliable. He was promptly handed a Walther PPK for wich he was instructed its 7.65 caliber hit "Like a brick thru plate glass". I almost fell of the couch with laughter. The Beretta had an open slide and was similar in physical size to the PPK so I would guess that it was a model 70 or something close. Unless it was a .22 caliber to my knowledge they were only available in .32 or .380. Anybody know what gun it was?
  7. I have had that happen a couple of times with my M2. Including stage 5 at Ft Benning. In all instances it has happened to me on the last shot before topping up the mag tube. Never in the middle of just shooting. I think in my case anyway that I am already realeasing a bit on the forearm in prep for grabbing shells and the gun does not have the support needed at that moment for the inertia system to fully function. Keep that in mind when you are shooting and see if it doesnt happen to coincide with reloads also.
  8. My opinion is that reticle is a tad busy and gives me too much to look at thru the scope. In 3-gun shooting I figure the majority of my shots are closer than 100 yds. I like a dot and do not care for circles. Horizontal stadia are nice to help avoid canting. A stadia below the aiming point (verticle) is OK to aid in holdover on the occasional long shot. I think I just described the Kdot in the Meopta. Why a stadia line above the circle as in the Mueller? My only druther to the Kdot is the dot could be a tad smaller at high magnification but again would only serve better for long shots. What if they could make the dot adjustable in size with a turn of a knob like the brightness control? That would be slick.
  9. Anybody have problems with Bushmaster 40's feeding?, I did and when compared to the Aluminum G.I. spec mags the feedlips were about 3/16" longer on the 40 rd. mag. I figured all I have too loose is 25 bucks so I break out the dremel tool. After a little cutting and grinding I got the feedlips looking just like the G.I. 30rd mags. also installed a magpull folower (which I tried first by the way to no affect) and wow---- now I have a 40 rd mag that works (so Far).
  10. Best price I found was $719.00 plus shipping The reticle is still there if the batteries drained or electronics failed. Mark
  11. Scott If you are not firmly set on Leupold take a look at the Meopta moestar 1-4x with illuminated K-dot reticle. I like leupold and have several on other rifles but always approach optics with an open mind. When I found the Meopta it fit my style of 3-gun shooting to a T. It has an incredible field of view, Superb light transmition true 1 power at 1x setting, and best of all it is fully daytime illuminated. Mounted to a Larue SPR mount it is a solid set-up.
  12. Definatly a step up from Bronson, but still Daniel Craig does not bring the smooth classy polished persona of James Bond like Sean Connery did. Daniel Craig is more of a bad boy version of James Bond.
  13. My wifes 2GB nano has a defective switch. just over a year old. Apples quote to fix was more than a new one. Never heard of the $49.00 apple plan but it would be worth looking into for her next one as they seem to be a bit fragile. Apple customer service told her the warranty was a year.
  14. Calamity Jane You are not alone. I recently had to ship a new pistol that was defective right out of the box back to the mfgr. I wont mention any names but I too tracked it to Exeter NH and back. I was a nervous wreck for 15 days. mostly because I was in denial for a couple of weeks with the thought that a $2300 pistol cant possibly be defective. but its back home now and I can rest easy again. Your pistol will be returned safely to you to,I am sure.
  15. Shooting a 22 round shotgun stage at a new club today and just about everything that could go wrong went wrong. First off was the 4 slug shots at the start, missed the first two, on the first load ( I load week hand with 4 at a time) one of the shells popped out of my hand, went strait up and over the receiver and I somehow managed to catch it with my loading hand. I could hear the R.O. laughing and I started to laugh ( boy does laughing wast time) I proceeded to keep going and managed to miss 3 of four flying clays and had three failures to feed (the laughing was well over by then) The failures and slug misses were ammo related. Moral of this story is test new ammo before you use it in a match. I did not have time to and this was the result. I still came in second Tactical.
  16. My personal experience has been that the 771 is not as secure as the 773. Having said that I currently have the 771 and will be replacing them with 773 soon. The reason is that the open front of the 771 sometimes lets you knock a mag out on stages with lots of movement. I primarily compete in three gun matches where there is a lot going on and if you bump a mag with anything it pops out. I have experimented by cutting a 2inch piece of bicycle innertube and slipping it from the bottom up over the mag holder and it does help keep them in. What happens is the mag rotates forward thru the slot if you bump it and it is sprung back in to the holder by the rubber. I have not lost a mag since my fix but have been aware of nocking them on several occasions. And no it is not because I need more tension with the adjustment screws. In fact the more tension I put on the screw the more it tends to push them out the front. I have both single stack and double stack varieties of the 771 and both are subject to this.
  17. Linda, Thanks for the round count. Since the stages are finalized what is the outcome of our woodpecker friend? are we going to get a looong stage or are we at 200 again? Thanks Mark
  18. I started out with CMC 10 rdrs. They kept giving me problems (Also have CMC 8rdrs that have been flawless). I finally replaced them with wilson 10rdrs and they have been flawless for several years now. To chips credit he did replace every one I had a problem with. The problem was soft feed lips. When loaded the spot where the case rim touches the back of the feed lips was bieng bent when the rounds were pushed up against them by that powerful spring. after awhile it caused failure to feed issues. It may have been a specific lot that missed proper heat treat, but I am only speculating. Non the less it made me look elsewhere for realible 10 rdrs.
  19. I have MMC ghost ring sights on my 590. They were in the same price range as the AO sights you mentioned though. If you dont have a Brownells catalog you might call and get one as they have a few other choices. 1-800-741-0015
  20. This is really my single stack gun but does double duty as lim 10 with beauracat mags. It started life as a factory Kimber Classic stainless target model. Only the slide barrel and frame are original. I did all the work, including the paint. It shoots 25 yd 1-1/4" 10 shot groups all day long. I won High overall in Lim 10 at the 2002 Florida state championship with it.
  21. "Kung Fu Hustle" so bad It took three nights to get thru it. But in the end it was fun.
  22. RIP Colonel Cooper. You will be missed by many.
  23. Uhhh what was this thread about.... oh yea double taps with a shotgun. Today it came in handy at our club match. The activator popper for a clay thrower was agonizingly slow to fall. Doubl tapping it made it fall much faster and gave a bit more hang time to the clay. Many similar activator related scenarios come to mind.
  24. AR15, Low power optic, lots of practice ammo.........
  25. I have also used both and I prefer the 590. I had Briley install their thinwall choke tubes and I customeized the front sight with fiberoptics. It rocks in Heavy Metal division now. Its action was a bit rougher when new, but with a little shooting time is smoothed up nicely.
