  1. You will self past that hole with spiderweb material and earn the nickname "Spiderman".
  2. Ouch, definately check the spring stack, are you using shock buffs? they also affect spring stack. I would suggest you order both sizes of bushings from Brownells, install the drop in and see if it is snug enough for your liking. If it is try it out and see if it shoots accurately. If so send the other back.
  3. Here is something to check. Inside the bolt with the firing pin is a rebound spring and a little piece of sheetmetal called a rebound spring support. Check that both are there and installed correctly if either are missing or not installed correctly it will result in unreliable ignition.
  4. You are on the right track with the .581 size for a .580 bbl. as this refers to the I.D. of the ring in the spherical bushing. The fitting of the bushing is to the slide not the bbl. Do not go grinding/sanding on the bbl. The mandrel is handy with a lathe. it allows you to secure the bushing while it spins to reduce the size sufficiently to achive the desired fit in the slide. A certain degree of filling the tab that turns into the groove in the slide will also be neccessary. How and what did you break on yours. I have used several over the years and am scratching my head as to how you would break one?
  5. Try culling those primers with the high guts and see if that helps reduce the problem. I have used many a federal primer and not experianced that problem. try another brand of primer and then if none of that works call Dillon again.
  6. Ding! Ding! Ding! I think we have a winner Seriuosly, i think i got to much sun shooting today. Ammo would be a very good possibility as to the problem here.
  7. Another vote for the Kershaw "onion series". I own several others from Spiderco, Benchmade, Gerber, and buck. The Kershaw knives are my favorite. Many but not all Kershaw knives are Made in the USA, if that is important to you check the blade carefully before you purchase.
  8. Sorry to hear about her decline. Twice in the past two years we were faced with the same thing. Your remark about mountain biking with her hit home for me. My best dog, Bud (sir Budwieser) used to accompany me on rides also. He never tired, even when I was exhausted. One stretch of hillside trail droped about 40 ft to a lake and turned right at the waters edge. Bud bieng a Lab never made the turn and always ran strait into the water. Cherrish the memories.
  9. Saw it last night. Heath Ledger was incredible, and dare I say, better than Jack Nichelsons portrayal of the joker. I would give it two thumbs up.
  10. You nailed it right in the ten ring. It is much cheaper for a manufacturer to deal with the 10% (probably less even) of us who would be concerned with better accuracy, than to put the gross amount of effort to get 100% of them to the standard we would like to see. I would also add that the big manufacturers probably have a hard time finding and keeping skilled labor who takes the same pride in their work as days gone by.
  11. In my opinion you might avoid the pump and go strait to a FN SLP Mk1. The Semi auto is in my opinion a lot more fun than a pump, and unless you plan on shooting Hvy-Mtl, the pump wont be very competitive. You will not need to purchase anything further with the FN either. as far as chokes go, my routine is to first experiment with which of the most open choke gives me good accuracy with slugs. It almost always ends up bieng either skeet or IC. Then pattern that choke with 7 1/2 or 8 shot. to see if it patterns well. It usually does. That is the choke I then use for all close, frangible and slug shots. If the shot is farther or is heavy/stubborn steel I will switch to a Light Modified or modified choke. Almost always the guys that show up at our club with fixed cylynder bore shotguns have trouble getting their hits.
  12. The caspian 9mm/38 super mags do not need to have 9mm ammo loaded long to function. I have used all manor of factory as well as standard (not loaded long) reloads and not had any issues. It simply runs like a swiss watch. The caspian frame has unique features that I desired and it felt mutch better in my hand than anything else available in the 1911 platform. See if you can find one to get your hands on.
  13. The short was absolutely hilarious, I liked it more than the movie. I felt the movie had a bit of a save the planet message, I hate it when a studio does that. My kids have informed me we will be buying it on DVD when released.
  14. Might I suggest a caspian framed High cap 9mm build. The caspian was designed around the 9mm round and mags are specific to the caliber, no spacer needed. Mags are readily available and the ones ive purchsed needed no tuning at all. Properly built it is as realiable as any pistol out there. Whatever you decide, pick your gunsmith well.
  15. Someone will correct me if im wrong but the Ar gas system is just that, a system, and changing one part of the system may result in a little performance gain, but if you match the components for best efficiancy the result is much better. You already have a good efficient comp, adding a light bolt carrier and an adjustable gas block will net the most desireable result. JP's instructions for adjusting the gas system are a good thing to read.
  16. Stealthy is right, if you shoot nose to charge handle the SPR-E will be fine. I got my SPR 1.5 at the recomendation of LaRue. For my style and technique it has been perfect.
  17. The LaRue is a great choice, but the SPR 1.5 is probably more appropriate for the Meopta. The SPR-E is better suited for a long eye relief scope such as an Accupoint. Not sure what to recomend for the holosight. I recomend calling LaRue they can answer all your questions.
  18. Try a different scope if you have one. Then you will know where the problem lies. It is either the scope or the mount.
  19. Are you sure you are looking strait thru the scope? I have only noticed what you describe while looking off center. Otherwise the illuminated reticle is crisp and even all the way around (the dot and all three lines).
  20. Kurts right, mine only needed $475.00 worth of fixin.
  21. It already has an 8+1 tube from the factory, 22" bbl, comes with pistons for heavy and light loads, two chokes (IC/Mod.) Fiber opt front and flip up rear, recoil pad. Progressive machine makes a oversize bolt release and Briley makes an oversize bolt handle (unneccessary IMOH) mine cost me $850.00. There are some top dogs using this shotgun to very good effect. By contrast my Bennelli cost me about $1600.00 to get to the same level this gun comes out of the box at. An added bonus is that FN supports our sport.
  22. If you are still looking for a shotgun check out the FN SLP Mark1. For just over the price of that remington it has fiber optic front bead and about everything else you need. It seems to share the good virtues of both the Remington and the Benelli. Even has a flip up rear sight.
  23. This seems to have turned into a rules discussion. Rules have NOTHING to do with growing the sport IMHO. Its about marketing. Getting the word out, bringing shooters to the matches we put on. Give incentives for first time competitors (one club I know of lets first timers shoot free). Gunshops may be one of the largest untapped sources. In my area at least, there are 6-8 shops and few of them even have a clue about 3-gun action competition. Maybee on the area level (USPSA) there could be a marketing effort to visit area gunshops with literatue to display and educate staff and invite them out to play. How many of your local gunshops are 3-gun savy? Whats in it for them? How about a breakdown of how mutch a competitor spends in a year on this sport. Im sure USPSA could come up with that info (if they dont already have it).
  24. Flex you read my mind. Reading these posts had me thinking these ideas are great but its catering to those already involved to some degree. How do we attract those that have no Idea we even hold these kind of events? For me I stumbled upon it by accident one day while at the range plugging targets. Saw a bunch of guys and gals with holsters shooting stages next to the public range and it cought my attention. I joined the club and never looked back. I had no clue this type of shooting even took place up till then. Getting the word out thru advertising at gun ranges, gun shows, gun shops, the internet, etc would be possible ways to get the word out. We need to "Get the attention" of those we wish to attract. And youth isn't 25% its 100%. that was each and every one of us at one point. They are essential for the growth of this sport. Don't just take your kid(s) to a match take someone elses also.
