  3. Thanks for the kind notes and emails. My wife broke both her ankels one had two hrs of surgury today. And that went well but the recovery will be long. I have a photo of the xrays on facebook. Its very ugely
  4. I just did an edit to add that I type slower than Mark K. He had not reply-ed when I started my dribble I have bullets that fly over 1" different at 200 yards. So you would have to provide some in formation on you load. Speed - bullet - barrel - how high your mount is over the bore line. But as a general guide my table for a 55MG gr bullet at 3000fps and a sight in at 200 is 1.5" high at 100 yards. and 0.3" high at 50 yards. I do all my sight in and groups on paper at 200 and I have two JP barrel uppers that have not been shot for group at 100 yards. If you set a paper at 50y and 100y and get some good honest groups. the trajectory pattern could be plotted for a 200y hit. this is if you have to hit closer than 1 moa. so if you do not have a crono graph to determine the bullet speed this may help you. If you sight in for 1.5" high at 100 y and your hits on the 50 yard target are lower than 0.3 most likely your hits 200y be above the 200y center. - If your hits at 50 yards are over the 0.3 =thin your hits at 200y will be low. But you will have to make some very good groups at 50. if you can put a target at 75 yards the bullet should be 1.04" high If your higher at 50 and 75 thin your bullet is most likely slower than 3000fps if your lower at the close 50 and 75 thin the bullet path is flatter and faster than 3000fps I can continue to work at confusing you if you need more help Any one any good with a balistic table can use the sight in hits at three distances and reverse plot your bullet speed and give you a table to figure out ware your hits will be past 200 after that. my 69 gr bullet at 2850 is 1.66" high at 100y - 1.2" at 75y and 0.42 at 50y all of that is with a scope mount 2" over the barrel
  5. The mounting would be biggest difference. the Clark Tube requires epoxy to attatch it to the nut and thin breaking the epoxy seal to remove it latter when you have to work on the barrel.
  6. I got one and a new Ace stock kit at the same time. I think its great and the only thing that makes the Ace stock usable for me. from shooting lots of rim-fire rifle in the past I developed a -Feel- for what a rifle does during the trigger pull and recoil -&- reset on target. The timing in a carbine gas system does not -Feel- as good to me as rifle gas timing. a light stock like the Ace with regular JP spring and light buffer = was slam-ish sounding and harsh. But with the new JP Buffer Spring system the = Slam Ting= was gone even in the Ace stock. I know that the new system is an improvement. Now if that a Big improvement I don't know What I do know is that its BETTER and better equals better , and to me at a cost of $200 its worth the price.
  7. words fail my thoughts , But I feel humbled by your strength
  8. its not easy to find. this link will get you close at the end of it has some imcomplete scores http://3gunnation.com/news/semi-pro_update
  9. Well I can Pin Point some stages that helped me greatly by having a Clear 1-4 Scope on longer targets. I did not get first shot hits - The clear glass let me see the miss and adjust my hold to get my hit. And having good Glass let me call my own hits and move on before the RO called the hit. I know more than a few matches it moved me up a few spots. But more than that its those kinda of shots that make be want to shoot 3 gun and have an accurate rifle and load. My enjoyment of 3 Gun has gone way up after mounting my first Vortex Razor. I got excited about the Vortex scope way before they offered sponsorship
  10. I think a 1-4 will die as hard as the 5" limited gun did in the shadow of the 6" fat free style gun. The 6" is better, ? how much better? I think it depends on how hard you play. I get some joy out of the few shots that the 6" works good on. I think a good 1-6 will be better, than the 1-4. Keep in mind that I don't have the new Razor 1-6 Yet. I am not unhappy with my 1-4 FFP using a good optic and seeing the hits early gives me joy in investment I put in to the game to play. I understand my self good enough to know the desire for the -New Razor 1-6- is mostly EGO driven. I have seen Egos bad twin Delusional and that not what drives me for better equipment. I want better equipment because it more fun to play with and I have been having more fun than ever before.
  11. +1 And how clear it is , a good Glass is the key. ...I remember telling Trapr when I started out in 3gun that I just could not imagine making a precision shot with a 4 power scope. I have sure had my eyes open in the past few years to how we can hang on to an old way of thinking by using old standards as the rule. New Standards, new rules on glass.
  12. It happens more times than I can count, not as often as a bad match. what does happen it the new toy or the good match is just a bit sweeter when you have it.
  13. The JP set-up is very accommodating, and even with the 20 MOA mount my first set of Vortex rings at 0.90 worked with the scope. just I had to set the cheek piece all the way down and push my face in hard. -not a bad thing-. My Rifle builder =Leather Custom= loaned me a high set to try out, it was 1.45" tall to the center line of the scope. That was nice. But now with the Vortex brand high rings at 1.25" I am even happier one thin I like that I can grab the gun in one hand just forward of the mag well like an AR and move it balanced in my hand.
  14. looked fast & on the Razors edge But your last post had two (IFs) in it. IF you had to do that to win the stage and IF you had gotten two As would you keep it in your plan for a national level match ? IF a stage required that for a shooting position , I would seriously consider leaving before the match started. Because I would not want to be at a match when someone got hurt. Not saying its wrong for you, but I can think of many that would try and follow and have a safety problem
  15. getting an 18" will save on ammunition. It will be no fun to shoot and so a person is less likely to practice with it. you will get tired of having more misses on close and far targets than a less experienced shooter so you would be less likely to sign up for an out of town event. Sure - in my opinion- an 18" barrel will save you lots of cash.
  16. you just made the bright spot in my day
  17. The very small amount that I shot my Firebird , was very satisfying. But I did not know how much I would 'Get into' three gun though and that has sucked up all my time. My new 260 bolt gun is eating up the rest of it, I got to find the time to use Grendel or let it go
  18. Most all re-shots are requirements not -'given' on all REF its a requirement. As an RO my desire is to give all the shooters a 'fair attempt' at the stage. I want the same thing as a shooter = a Fair attempt at the stage= As a shooter if a popper does not fall when I am shooting and call a good shot I end up looking back and making a decision of whether or not to take another shot. that eats up time and effects my score. after putting in the time to for a great RO class by Troy M. I don't think I have "given" a reshoot at any match I ROed at. All of them were Required reshoots
  19. The Scope I have is a 35mm Razor and its big, I have the Badger 20moa rail as well. = with the shade on the scope cleared the hand guard but it was so close I could not get the cap on. the rings were 0.325" above the rail. The second thing was that the adjustable check piece was all the way down. I am much happier with the higher rings Its a great stock your going to love it
  20. rite now I am feeling like Einstein sorry
  21. Life is hard , a name can a make a person tough Jamie Yes! its a mans name!! A traditional name from Scotland
  22. I did not know that an effective poison application was even available I don't think any one has used poision and still every year we see fewer birds. its like 2012 or something
  23. The needles will stay on a dead tree for more than a year most of the time. What is left is a tree standing tall like a match stick. Fire vary from, say a fire in a tall old growth forest that benefits from the fire by having it stay close to ground and take out all the small 12" high or small trees and bushes that later allow the tall trees to have more water from the ground. Some Fires in dry steep area crown over the tops of trees leaving all the scrubby stuff on the ground. The Dam Pine Beetle will not even eat the tree just eat under the bark and lay eggs to multiply. Old cut and cover was a costly wast of time and $. I could hear bugs in some Ponderous trees that my arms would barley reach around , the bugs I could hear under the bark were not pin beetle but another bug that moved in after the beetle was gone to kill 5x more trees. I don't know that the fire does any thing more than make the beetle move sooner. I may end up with worst kill from the bugs moving from the Colorado Springs fires. I had plans to harvest some of my trees for building the home, but we are close to having a Kindling Box to build in now.
  24. I don't get many chances to practice ranging past 1000 yards. But when I vacation on our high land in Colorado we are 1,000 feet above the Valley floor at 8,000el. So even in July the mornings and evenings are cool and nice. My wife and I will glass the Valley and surrounding lower hills and the Sange DeCristo Mountains across the valley. Any way by using the Ranging reticle in the Vortex Spotting scope I can use windows and doors to range houses. ( a door is just over two yards High) the windows on garage and barn doors are rite at 2 yards high. Some of the detail that I can make out in the scope is very cool. like a metal Barn with tall doors and the 6 feet high windows are 0.10 mills tall = that would make it 20,000 yards away and I can make out, doorways, sky lights, fences 11 miles away. For years Linda has admired a porch on a home that is in the Bull Domingo Ranch. I ranged a side door at just a bit taller than (1Mill) so its 2,000 yards away. we can see the hand rail detail, the stone work, i can tell that the side windows are four feet wide. As the sun set she saw lights on the fire place cap so I looked closer to determine that it was just the sun reflecting off the sheet metal cap. But thin through the dark side of the porch window I see that light danced in the window. No I am not purving ... Its a big screen TV partial visible, so I say i am going to see if I can identify what is on. mostly the images change so fast I can not tell , But thin an image holds of a man with sandy hair and dark suit standing next to a shorter woman with dark hair. I sing out that they are watching the Mentalist - its Monday night . That was just too funny to pass up on watching TV from 2,000 yards
