  1. I’ve never compared to a Steiner, but I can attest that the Burris glass is excellent. The reticle is very nice as well, though it could be a bit more daylight bright... unless that’s something that’s been improved recently.
  2. How are you accomplishing this? Pics? EDIT TO ADD: Just found the other thread where you discuss this. I’m already using a spacer to make my rifle length into a carbine length. What size spacer have you settled on? And did you do anything to/with the spring?
  3. LOL. I guess I’ve been using that dry fire app for so long, I forgot that I paid for it at all! Whatever they want, it’s worth the price.
  4. If your max range is 300-400 yards, a 1-4x will treat you fine— and don’t rule out the Burris XTRII 1-5x. These and other 1-4x can be picked up used in the BEnos classifieds for big savings! Lastly don’t scimp on the mount. Plan on at least another $100 for that. Also realize that going from a micro to any magnified optic, your gun is going to feel completely different than with the dot— way heavier and likely a different balance point. If you’re already used to the Aimpoint and like the way your gun handles, I’d recommend finding a friend with a similar rifle but with a scope and asking to borrow it for a match. If 90%+ of your matches are 230yds and under, I’d be very tempted to tell you to stick with the dot. Maybe even consider getting a magnifier on a flip or twist mount for the <10% of the time you’ll need it. I know magnifiers aren’t ideal, but if you’re rarely using it, it’s something to consider. I have yet to look through one, so don’t necessarily take this as a recommendation, but for awhile I was considering a .300blk build with a Primary Arms 4x or 6x magnifier on an American Defense mount. If the optic is decent (again, this is an unanswered question for me) it would be a versatile package that wouldn’t break the bank while still allowing you to keep your rifle lightweight when the magnification is not needed.
  5. I don’t need a 1-6x right now, but my brain keeps telling me to figure out a way to get this C-more before that deal goes away. I’ll likely want one in the future and this is an amazing deal for a scope that has every indication of being a high end optic.
  6. LMAO! I didn’t think of that actually, but my example shooter was in fact law enforcement!!!
  7. ?. I’m just not sure if 20% is the magic number but I think it’s close. It would be smart to actually look at the data and come up with a number scientifically. For instance, I might average 1.80 per run on S&H. It’s not that unusual for me to go 1.65ish, which is in the 10% below average realm. If I got a 1.44 (20% of 1.80) then I’d seriously consider that the timer missed the last shot... but that’s also only increasing my splits by .05sec off my best, which isn’t exactly out of the realm of possibility. I’d definitely toss the idea around with different folks before settling on a percentage.
  8. I’d say average scored string time per stage. I’d differentiate between overall and last 3-5 matches so you’re not artificially lowering your averages with times earned as a rookie vs. experienced. It might be good to also have an adjusted average time in addition to raw time. By that I mean, remove times that are, say, 20% slower than average. This way way the average “ggod run” time isn’t going to be tainted with equipment malfunctions. EDIT TO ADD: I’d also remove strings that are 20% (or whatever) faster than average as sometimes string scores are entered wrong into PractiScore and that would remove that bad data as well.
  9. Another issue I've fond which makes RO'ing difficult in this regard is guys who mix various loads together in an effort to "clean out the closet" of the ammo they no longer use. This is especially prevalent with USPSA shooters who shoot some Steel Challenge for practice purposes only, so they don't especially care about their overall times. I once RO'd a guy shooting a .40 that had a comically loud major load, and in the same bucket he'd randomly mixed in a bunch of minor (or at least way quieter) .40's all loaded with the same bullet heads... so he couldn't tell what was what. Roll the dice with every shot, and one would shoot high, one would shoot low. Four shots of super louds followed by a "quiet" round sounded like a squib. He told me not to worry about it, so I didn't. Anyway, I've had plenty of instances where shooters will have an odd sounding load that still functioned fine, and they'll say, "Did you hear that? Doggone it, I must have had an XYZ mixed in there!' I'll just shrug and move on with my life. I'll sometimes have a similar issue happen myself if I don't bring along quite enough rounds and have to dip into a backup bucket of ammo to make it through the last stage, but I always know which rounds are what, and they're close enough in power to each other that nobody will notice the difference except me.
  10. I tried it for a bit without but prefer the extra trigger reach it gives me. Once I found the exact position my finger likes, I can’t imagine shooting without it. Finding the proper height adjustment did take some time though. I suggest sticking with it and trying all the different height choices before abandoning it.
  11. Would the RO notice? Possibly. The problem is that if you’re tearing through the targets with .25 or less splits, you’re going to either stop yourself or have a blown up gun before the RO will have time to get the word “stop” out of his mouth, much less you having time to process the order and obey it. IMHO, squibs are on the shooter and nobody else. If the RO confirms that he heard a squib too, then thank him and start figuring out a way to clear your gun.
  12. Who has the best price for the Game Changer?
  13. Keep an eye on the ride height. It looks like your cheek weld could potentially change if you’ve got your stock set up for a C-more.
  14. Sitting in waiting room for MRI and thought it might be a good time to post an update. The arm is doing well. I actually thought it would be good to do some sort of a data driven test to gauge improvement over time so I did a words per minute typing test and then planned to retest in a month. First try I did 85 wpm with one error, and then later followed up with a 79 wpm with no errors so.... I think I’ll just check that test off as good!!! The back is a different story. It just keeps getting worse and worse. I saw a doctor of physical therapy yesterday and he tested me out. He suspects that I actually damaged my hip in the accident and that’s where a lot of my pain is coming from, but I haven’t been properly diagnosed in that area yet. He suspects that I may have dislocated my hip in the accident and when it popped back in it may not have set right, or there may be a slight fracture that’s lingering along. I’m now working on getting approval for an Xray of that area to see if there’s any validity to his theory. I can say that when I woke up this morning after the physical therapy session I was in so much pain I ended up coming home after only an hour of work today. It wasn’t a muscle pain either, but more like either my herniated disc was agitated or he was yanking on a damaged bone or joint that didn’t like being yanked on. Sigh. More tests. More doctors. On the plus side, I am dry firing with my very lightweight rimfire rifle, if for only 15 minutes at a pop vs my usual 30 or more. It’s not the most phenomenal dry fire, but it’s something.

I kinda want to say to them, "Hey, how about you go nose to nose with that crappy D-Line player you were just bad mouthing and show them how a block is really done? I'll film it so you can show it off afterwards."

While GM's represent about the top 5% of the organization, there is a huge variance within that 5%. To put it metaphorically in football terms, I like to think that GM's by and large are equivalent to a D1 college team, which includes every player from the starters to the bench warmers. There is a very small percentage of D1 players who make it to the pros: these are your USPSA sponsored GM's. A very small percentage of that very small percentage of football players will eventually win a Super Bowl ring: that's your Max- and BJ- and KC-type shooters. Don't make any mistake, though-- college level varsity benchwarmers are far better than your typical Adult League player can even comprehend. Getting on my soapbox now... I can't stand it when couch potatoes go on and on from the comfort of their La-Z-Boy's about how so-so on a pro team "sucks," when that couch potato has absolutely no idea how many years of sweat and tears that "sucky" player has invested to get into their position. The worst pro player out there has forgotten more than said couch potato has ever learned. This is the very reason why I avoid talking sports with all but a few people. It generally makes me boil on the inside.
  17. Stick, have you actually compared these against a "major brand" green laser such as LaserMax, Crimson Trace, etc? I've been wavering over purchasing this laser. Based on BockerSV's info, I reviewed the eBay ad, and it says that this laser is rated at 5mW, which is the same as LaserMax and others are legally limited to produce. I'm just wondering if this Chinese laser is a 5mW laser, or if they "conveniently rated themselves" at 5mW in the ad for legal purposes. EDIT TO ADD: I may have answered my own question, as it's listed here at 250mW: https://www.laserpointerpro.com/250mw-green-beam-light-flat-head-laser-gun-sighter-black-p-1907.html
  18. Their hoods are easily removable?
  19. I’m actually pretty intrigued by this dot. I don’t know If making the hood easily removable was a conscious decision in this respect, but it really sets up this dot for a variety of uses. The fact that it can be put on a carbine with no hood for pure game use and then transformed into “tactical mode” with a couple turns of a screw is very smart. I don’t know of a competitor that can make same claim. The fact that Holosun doesn’t advertise it (or am I wrong here?) confirms to me that it wasn’t done consciously but is a happy accident that the end users are exploiting.

I can tell you that in Steel Challenge I am a 100% ranked GM (actually something like 106%) and the top guys leave me standing still. I have no doubt that it's the same in USPSA.

  22. $136 on Amazon: Rail Mounted Laser (Green) Requires at least 3/4 of rail space https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XXU2ZTS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_jnMvBb2FATDT3
  23. Interesting info in this thread. To cure the sloppiness problem, I usually apply it first to something like a toothpick or Q-tip and then apply it from this tool onto the screw. Most people already know that Loc-Tite releases with heat, so I determine where I will apply it on the bolt based on where best to apply the heat if I ever need to release it. For instance, if it's a very long bolt going into thick metal that will be difficult to heat down to the tip, it would be best to apply the Lok-Tite up near the head.
