  1. Velocity of 1450 FPS for 9-major with OAL of 1.155 is asking for trouble IMHO. That's in the 181PF with a short OAL. I load AC 7 grains but with OAL of 1.170 and runs around 174 PF. I suggest lower the charge and go as long as the chamber will take.
  2. There's not enough room to make major in 9 for thgis powder.
  3. In my STI match master with T2 comp, I run VV N350 7.4 grains 125 zero jhp-c, it chronoed 169-170 PF
  4. I have to agree with Flexmoney. Since you are from Germany you should have no prolem getting the most sought after Vectran powder here I US for open loads
  5. Mat, Are you using the full length tubor T2 bbl. I am waiting for your chrono result. Though I am using the shorter tubor bbl in my matcmaster.
  6. Folks, First of all I am aware of the erratic pressure spikes of this powder. I have a few working loads using other powder brands for this gun. However, I have a close to 4-lbs of SR 7625 that is sitting in my shelf. I have used this powder in my 38 SC open gun, but I want to try it for 9-major. As the title said, I need the load data from STI Matchmaster shooters in here. The gun has a 4.25-inch tru-bor barrel with T2 comp. I have downloaded the 9-major loads from here (BEnos.com). However, the 7625 9-major data were for 4.25 Bar-sto bbl & 4.5-inch AET bbl while I am using a 4.25-inch. trubor bbl. Could any of you guys share a starting load for the above powder?
  7. Mark, Been using this load for 4-years now and I love it! Bedell Shorty 38SC with no popple hole. 8.2 grains of VV 3N37 Zero 125 grn JHP & C-JHP CCI or Win SRP OAL = 1.250 at the Chrono stage last July during the 2011 IPSC Canadian National Championship it ran between 167-169 PF in my Bedell Shorty. I hope this help.
  8. Even if you are able to resize these brass, your resizing die prolly shave the brass outside the bulge reducing the thickness at its base, which will make it unsafe. I won't risk my gun for these type of range nbrass.
  9. Chrono UPDATE: I chronoed another batch of N350 today: Same gun and components as my previous post above: N350-7.4 grains - 163-164 PF thru my STI matchmaster.
  10. I recently chronoed an N350 load for my STI matchmaster: Bbl - 4.25" Trubor with T2 comp and addtl small side holes at the end of the front side port. CCI SPP 125 grns Zero JHP bullet OAL - 1.170" N350 - 7.0 grains Out of 8-shots they are consistent to the PF of 160. I will try the 7.3 load this weekend see how it goes. And yes, this is for IPSC Open major for the Canadian Nationals next week.
  11. 8.3 VV 3N37 125 grn Zero JHP 1.245 169-171 PF Thru Bedell Shorty, KKM bbl with no hole
  12. Lee what's the bbl make and bbl length of your 9-major?
  13. Thanks for your reply Yoshi. To be more specific, I am using this gun for IPSC and would prefer the 124/125 bullet weight-Zero JHP. I am not that specific about the powder. Thank you for your reply CocoBolo. I have browsed 97-pages of this section and YES, there are a few 9-major load posts in here, but not specific to Match Master. I have seen a few of your posts (CocoBolo) and I have already compiled those data and will have to play around with them for a start. I was hoping that there are a few Match Master shooters that currently have a favorite working load that will respond to this query. On the side note, I fully understand your opinion about 38-SC, I had been shooting a Bedell shorty in 38-SC for 3-years and you are absolutely right about 38 SC. I bought a 9-major open gun for the following reasons; Being in Canada and a having a very limited source of Starline 38-SC brass (not to mention the $PRICE$ in Canada - my pocket is like hemorrhaging with $$$$), 9-major is one feasible option. Practicing outdoor with a 9-major open gun is more practical knowing that you don't have to worry much about loosing your brass, unlike the precious 38-SC brass. Being in Canada, we compete in IPSC. Therefore I have more flexibility in powder choice due to the IPSC major PF in open division being 160 PF - less powder volume to hit major. I don't have to worry either about full high capacity magazine functioning properly considering the 9-mm round challenges in loading full capacity (tilting-nose diving in full cap) because Canadians are only legally limited to a max magazine capacity of 10-rounds in handguns. I can go on and on with this LOL..... THANK YOU again for the input .
  14. Been searching the forum for 9-major load for STI Match Master. I noticed that there's only a few of them out there. I have a new Match Master on its way this February and I need to start loading before it is delivered. Can anyone share their loads for this baby? I would also like to hear loads for 9-major shorty owners out there. Thank you in advance for your help
  15. Just like RoryW, I use a different powder for practice rounds. In fact I am using the exact powder you are using for most of my practice rounds (IMR 4756). I shoot a Bedell shorty in 38 SC with no popple holes in the bbl with Ti Bedell comp: > 38SC Starline brass > CCI/WIN SRP or SP primers > 8.6 grains - IMR 4756 > 125 grains .355 dia. Zero JHP bullets > OAL = 1.245" > No crimp at all > Vel = 1322 - 1337 fps > PF = 165.25 - 167.37 For my VV 3N37 rounds: > 38SC Starline brass > CCI/WIN SRP or SP primers > 8.2 grains - VV 3N37 > 125 grains .355 dia. Zero JHP bullets > OAL = 1.245" > No crimp at all > Vel = 1336 - 1344 fps > PF = 167 - 168
  16. I use VV3N37 for my 38SC load. Definitely cleaner than IMR 4756.
  17. The answer to your first question is YES. YOu will have to give us more information of the gun you are shooting the 38 SC load in order for us to be able to give valid suggestions. Give us more detail of the build of the gun, bbl length, bbl make (hybrid or non hybrid), compensator used in the gun. Anyways, let's start on this link: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52113&hl=115+MGB+load Disclaimer: The data described in this link may not be applicable to your own open gun. Load with caution. Cheers Nog2
  18. Be careful in filing that ejector tho. If you file it the wrong way, you will end up with a ding on the side of your brass during ejection. The spent brass will hit the side of the ejection port or worse case you will end up with ejection problem. Just my 2-cents. Similar marks left on my spent brass from 2 of my STI guns (Edge 40 SW & STInger 9mm) does not really bother me. I take it positively that I know, which brass are mine with those distinct brass marks when picking them up at the range (I am talking about the 40 SW, I seldom pickup my 9mm for the reason that I shoot my STInger in 9-major). Also, I use those marks as my counter as to how many times I've reloaded and fired those brass. The more marks I see, means the brass is close to its maximum life and cant be loaded for major PF. I have reloaded and fired 40 SW rounds that has all the marks you can see all around the brass to a point where you wont be able to read the head stamp, but does not affect the performance of the gun.
  19. I have the same marks on my spent brass from my STI Edge and STinger. Exactly the same as yours. It is the ejector that is causing that mark not the extractor or the slide. i wouldnt know....never seen it before
  20. We have a dealer here in Canada (Freedom Ventures) that imports and stocks Tanfoglio handguns direct from Italy. A few here North of the border (Area 7) shoot the same exact model. The SRP of Eric Open Gun that is shown @ Front Sight in this month's issue is $3650 Canadian (from the Dealer I mentioned). Of course that is just the base price without the additional "blings" of the gun
  21. You can use any small pistol primer. With primers getting really hard to find nowadays, use any brand that you can find. Just be careful with the Federal primers, they are sensitive and soft, which you need caution in priming them with your Lee loader. Good luck, load safely
  22. I know there are a few minor PF LOAD data for STInger in this forum using 115 grains projectiles. However, I am in search of an IPSC minor PF load for my wife's 9mm STInger open gun using 121/125 grns projecitle. SR7625 kinda caught my eye because among the open gun powders available around, 7625 is one among with the fastest burn rate. I think SR7625 burn rate would be suitable for a short bbl like the STInger's. Does anyone have a starting load data they want to share using 7625 for 9 minor? Thank you in advance. Nog2
  23. What was your OAL and thru what bbl for the data below HSMITH? I would like to try your load, I am not too concern about making major using 124/125 grains projectiles. 163 PF should be good for IPSC PF. Thanks
  24. Lee Factory Crimp Die (NOT the Lee Crimp Die) does the crimping and at the same time re-size the finished reloaded round in full length. I use them in all my pistol reload and it works great for me.
