  1. Hellz yeah. I'm making Brian's beef jerky recipe right now, come find me this weekend if you want to try it.
  2. Brenham, like where all those really happy cows are?? Sweet, I'll check it out - thanks Dave.
  3. Has there been a match hotel announced yet? Or does anyone have recommendations on where to stay? I don't know that I've been to this range yet, but this match sounds like too much fun to miss!
  4. Very sorry to hear that, Ray - please accept my condolences.
  5. Very nice, Trace! I'm sure you will do that shirt proud.
  6. Once again another FANTASTIC match put on by the HDC crew. You guys seem to outdo yourselves more and more every year - the stages were very challenging (ok some were a little on the mean side ), and were far better than some of the other major matches I've been to. Logistics were great, stats were done quickly and accurately, and the prize table was awesome (great job Nanci!). This is why I keep coming back every year! Squad 1 was awesome, it was a pleasure shooting with you all. See you next year!
  7. RIP, one of the greatest rock and roll voices ever. Off to listen to Neon Knights again...
  8. Def-def-definitely June. I'll take sweating over freezing any day.
  9. Great match, as always! Somebody must have done something right, because all the bad weather just scooted right on by the range - it was an awesome weekend. And I agree, it was a great call to have us shoot it all yesterday - that's the only reason I'm already home. Squad 2 was a blast! Hope we all get to shoot together again soon. Thanks to all the staff and ROs, this is always one of the best run big matches every year. See y'all next year!
  10. Sounds like there will be plenty of puddles for me to rinse my Glock mags off in - woo hoo! And yes, this year I'm bringing long pants. And maybe some scuba gear. See y'all Saturday!
  11. Hi Dave, welcome to the best shooting forum on the planet - you're starting in the right place! The Space City Challenge USPSA match will be at the PSC range this weekend, a lot of folks from this forum will be there, including myself. If you have time come on out and watch some of the action, introduce yourself and ask questions - you'll get a good idea of what USPSA is all about, and get to see what a major match is like first hand. Hope to see you there!
  12. Check with Ken (shootingchef), I believe he had a change in plans and now has to shoot on Sunday. See you there!
  13. A big +1. This is especially true for any non-firearms / accessories sponsors. If they are not aware that they got attention, they have no reason to return. I've sponsored a few matches and I can tell you, the thank you's are extremely important. I too have received several replies back from sponsors that I sent thank you notes to - it really does make a difference. One even asked if I would send him a match book - and several expressed their sympathies at the weather... I also thanked Steve for giving us a list of sponsors, that made it very easy to go down the list.
  14. Right back atcha, Josh! It was great meeting you and watching you shoot - congrats on your win, you did great! We did have the most fabulously awesome squad, didn't we? That's the only reason I kept my frozen butt out there, we still had a good time in spite of everything. See ya next year.
  15. Now that I have finally thawed out... Though the weather didn't cooperate AGAIN for DTC, I know one thing - I will never miss this match, no matter when it is held. The stages and props were awesome, all of the staff is always top-notch, the prize table was great and I have never seen a group of people work harder to make a match run as efficiently as possible despite all the obstacles. Did I have a good match? Lord no, I couldn't feel my hands most of the time and I'm very thankful I didn't drop my gun. But I still had a great time - if I'm going to freeze my butt off, freezing it off with good friends is the way to go. I'll be writing my thank you e-mails to all the sponsors today too - Steve did a great job on the prize table. I have worked this match the last few years - back in January I asked Robert if he had enough staff volunteers I would like to just shoot this year. Before I left the range yesterday I found Robert, thanked him for a great match, profusely apologized for not working this year (I would have shot with the staff in great weather!) and begged him to let me work next year. Lesson learned! Having RO'd major matches with both paper and palms, I could not imagine trying to score this match on paper. The howling wind, snow, sleet and mud would have been way worse than the delays caused by the palms and printers. Are the printers a pain? Yeah, a bit. Did the cold temps maybe play a part in some of the palm problems? Probably, I know my camera wasn't happy with the temps either. Palm scoring is the way of the future, and though it needs improvement, I am willing to work with the few issues to keep moving in that direction. See y'all next year!
  16. OK, I just spent a bunch of money on really warm clothes for this weekend, so that means it will be sunny and warm. (Please Please Please Please) You're welcome!
  17. Stage 4, using the SASS props, looks like the one with the most movement, lateral and forward. You should be able to engage all targets within the first 100 yds . I believe that was G-ManBart's least favorite stage last year. I thought I was going to die after that stage. You did have us all worried there for a few minutes...
  18. Wow Ari, that is a fantastic story - I am so glad it has a happy ending, and kudos to Carmoney for offering to help you with it.
  19. Got mine tonight as well!! It is at the embroidery shop already. I initially had the larger bag but the Ultra is the perfect size for me. And Shooters Connection! Holy..... Ordered at 9 at night and delivered two mornings later! I got my new bag a couple of weeks ago, the Ultra in black - it is awesome, I love all the different compartments everywhere and it is sooo sturdy. But now I wish I would have thought about taking it to the embroidery place before I loaded it up, that is a good idea! And I already made a post about this elsewhere on the forum, but MAN you just can't get a faster order turnaround than with Shooters Connection. I swear, as soon as I click Submit I'm getting the ship notification - that is just amazing.
  20. Welcome to Texas! Hope to see you at one of the local matches soon, there's something to shoot every weekend. One more website for you: www.dallaspistolclub.com - you don't have to be a member there to shoot their matches, check out the calendar and come on out to play.
  21. There seriously needs to be a common sense/base intelligence test for CCW before you even get to apply. I cringe every time I go take my renewal, because I know I'm gonna get flagged at least once during the range portion. Eeek. And my brother-in-law bought my sister a Glock 27 to carry - instead of hitting him over the head with it, I took him to the range and he shot it with the defense loads he bought her. "Ooooooohhhhh, I see what you mean..."
  22. Anyone who has shot the High Desert Classic the last couple of years can give you a big huge con to wearing contacts - several people had a really bad time with all the blowing sand getting in their contacts. I would think that getting a set of shooting glasses with the prescription inserts (so you can change lenses easily) would be the way to go - I'm sure someone using that setup will chime in here and give you some advice. Good luck!
  23. That is awesome, congrats to you both. It has been amazing watching the kid grow up and accomplish so much. I'm so proud!! *sniff*
