  1. Great shooting Ken! All the matches you've been shooting has paid off.
  2. Just 1 M1A, Kurt. No switch on it. I do have a .308 DPMS-ish rifle for optics though. Even Bryan Ray has a similar set.
  3. I would say yes, for the .223 rifles. I don't shoot enough heavy metal matches to justify that expense. They may not be identical, but, at my level and age, it makes no difference. On the other hand, I do have spare barrels too.
  4. Multiple bays? I know, I live in the wrong part of the country
  5. Okay, I understand fully now. When I got my Super Nova, I pulled it apart and stoned the surfaces that I figured needed it, in other words the roughness from stamping out the action bars and things like that. No polishing per say, but smoothing out the tooling marks. I've worked in machine shops for 40+ years, including shops that supported sheet metal production, so I look at things a bit differently than a lot of people.
  6. Some ammo will cause mine to do this. Rio has been the culprit, Herter's from Cabella's runs just fine. Try a different brand of ammo first.
  7. Woo Hoo! And crap all at the same time! Guess I'm going to need to get my gear out and practice a little. Gonna break out the M1A?? Don't hate me, Dan. Bryan, I shoot a DPMS based .308 at He Man, and at FNH this year. I can't hate you, I can harass you though.
  8. If you can afford it, get the Vortex Razor2 HD, with the JM'1 reticle, and be done with it. Yes, I know...."it's heavy" but, it's built like a tank!
  9. I'm a stock crawler, and found the Vortex 3" offset to work well for me. The distance between the rings is pretty wide, and I found that to help. I also went to a Luth adjustable stock, and when a stage has prone shooting, I extend the stock all the way.
  10. Sound like a terrible issue, but the TTI carrier is a Benelli and not for a VM. Brownell's lists the Versamax as a compatible gun for the lifter.

  12. Getting a truck load of pumpkins could get pricey for the target budget. Mr Ziebart is correct. Jump on a plane to New Mexico and come shoot the He Man Nationals. Targets will be farther than 300 yards though. Your arm will be tired after the all birdshot stage (Sporting Clays From Hell). You will shoot with like minded people that like big bore rifles and pistols. We all shoot 12 gauge pump guns though. The stages are set up on one of the most beautiful places to shoot in the United States.
  13. Where are you located? Inside every long barrel is a shorter barrel waiting to be let loose. The only factor is whether or not it's a bull barrel. Even then most of them are machined to allow for a shorter slide.
  14. It may never happen again. Shotguns, and I mean any brand, will have the oddest malfunctions of all the toys we use in 3 gun. If I were to carry a spare gun to a match, the shotgun would be the one.
  15. Why on earth would cutting the 6" barrel be bad?
  16. Don't use the match saver as a crutch, it's to be used at the end of a stage, not at the beginning. You had one "Oh Crap" round, and when you turned the plate, you should have loaded asap, and carried on. Rushing to "make up" time caused you to drop shells on the ground. A "Hansel and Gretel" loading is not optimal. Consider getting a 4 round caddy and practice loading a single round from that. It can come in handy when a slug of two are tossed into a stage. I'm old and slow, so take or leave the opinions above.
  17. I have a Timney 4 pound AR10 trigger. The return spring was set heavier, the hammer spring is the same as the 3 pound AR15 trigger. It wouldn't ignite a single round of Hornady Steel Match.
