I personally use scotch tape on my glasses over my non-dominant eye.

Definitely make sure your stage plans reflects your division capacity. -

10-4. Are you saying you count shots during your run or just your walkthrough/visualization? -

Count to 8 or 10 what? -

If you're OK being an average + shooter then you'll be ok with standing and shooting at tiny cardboard targets in your room. If you're looking for more than that then wake up before your roommates do and use any common areas for practice. Given your academic pursuits this may not be a huge priority for you (understandably). But back to the original post, you don't ever need to touch your pistol to be able to perfect visualization when doing stage prep. That's just mental repetition and focus. -
Chris is hosting a USPSA Level 1 Class the weekend of May 27-28 at Pitt Co. Wildlife Club Saturday for their match and at his range on Sunday. http://www.goshoot.com/product.level-i-uspsaipsc-may-27-28

A good drill for foot speed is "Call It and Leave It." The best way to stop looking down is to have a reference point that's not on the ground. A pot on a wall, barrel, etc will serve as good reference points to know you're in the right position without having to look down. Also, your shoes should be thin enough that you know whether or not you're standing on the fault line.

In the picture it looks like both hands could be higher on the pistol.

Then use small targets. -

Both. Utilize your time before your squad starts to shoot to walk through the stage and determine your stage plan. Then in between pasting and resetting, visualize the stage plan as many times as possible. I typically will do a walk through again when I'm on deck. -
Best stage of the day. Show me some holes.

I would definitely work on getting a fresh magazine in sooner. I move faster when I'm only focusing on moving, not a magazine change. -
My switch from plastic to Tanfo
TravisNC replied to MemphisMechanic's topic in Tanfoglio (EAA / IFG)
Great read! I wish you continued success with the Tanfo! -
I believe that's where I will benefit the most. I'll probably pick one up this winter. Enjoy yours!

Do you feel your target transitions are as fast as with the 17? I've been shooting USPSA for about a year and I just hit A class with my 17. I've been thinking about picking up a Tanfo but I'm not sure if it'll benefit me more than just more practice time.

Settling on a division... how did YOU decide?
TravisNC replied to Fatso's topic in Miscellaneous BEginners
Again, I would strongly recommend shooting a couple matches before mapping out the future of your pistol/rig. -

Definitely shoot your first (couple) match(es) in Limited and focus on learning the ins and outs of competitive shooting. Do you have a holster, two mag pouches and 3 mags? If so you're ready to go. Don't get caught up in buying gear until you're sure what division you want to shoot. -

Have you shot a match yet? If not, sign up for the next available match and shoot Limited. If you get hooked then you can decide whether or not Production is for you. -

I have 4 layers in the front and it doesn't cause any issues. -

Technically, the CRO/shooter was telling the person running the timer his intention. Sorry for leaving that off. -
Firing a Stuck Round Before Showing Clear

My only confusion was whether or not the last shot should have been on the clock, thus adding ~30 seconds to the stage time. -

I started shooting Production because I had a Glock 17 and knew Production would be the best bet for being competitive without buying a new pistol. -
