  1. At a match recently a shooter was unable to unload and show clear due to a round being stuck in the chamber. After several attempts to eject the round, the shooter fired the round into the back berm to clear the malfunction. It was determined that this shot wasn't part of his stage run and therefore didn't count against his time. Is that correct?
  2. Sub second draws on his first 10 draws ever? Impressive.
  3. Welxome! Are you shooting A6?
  4. C class shouldn't be an issue with minor scoring, but you'll need all points possible to make B in Limited. Dry fire with a focus on magazine changes and target transitions and you'll make it.
  5. You're absolutely right. I'm within 1.5 hours of Sir Walter, Woody's, CGGR, Rowan and Range 11. Probably others, but those are just the ones where I have shot monthly USPSA matches. It's not uncommon to see Chris Tilley, Phil Strader and Todd Jarrett at local matches.
  6. Thanks! Yes, 147 Blue Bullets over 3.2gr N320 and CCI primers on a Lee Pro 1000.
  7. If you're like me then you're probably jerking the trigger and trying to compensate by moving away from the NS. You just have to be confident that your shots go where the sights say they're going to go. That takes practice. Split the remaining available brown and take two controlled shots.
  8. Low splits look cool on Insta but they're not doing anything to help match performance, if that's something you care about. Work on transition times if you want the best match results.
  9. I've been lurking here for a while and remembered I should make an intro post. I'm starting my second year shooting USPSA. I'm competing in Production with a mostly stock Glock 17 and recently made it to A class, just in time for Area 6. Thanks for the great wealth of knowledge here!
  10. Speaking from my last year as a new shooter, you can get further than most local shooters with the "Shot Timer" iOS app, post it notes as dry fire targets, and a dedicated dry fire schedule. Being new to the sport, don't get caught up on which timer to buy, which dry fire targets are best, etc. Practice consistent draws, magazine changes and target (post it note) transitions by seeing your sights and you'll be B or A class in no time.
  11. I just received word that my flight was changed to Friday so it looks like I won't be able to make any matches. Bosshoss I'll look you up up the next time I'm in town and have time to shoot.
  12. What about Rockcastle? They're relatively close and the match is on the 25th, the only day I could shoot.
  13. I'll be in KY for work next week and wanted to see if there are any club matches I could attend while in town. Are there any USPSA matches coming up in the Louisville area?
  14. 3.1 or 3.2 should get you there, depending on actual bullet weight and what your gun prefers.
  15. I used 149 in my calculations.
  16. I've ran one match with 147gr blue bullets and 3.1gr TG (1.14" OAL) and didn't notice any issues. TG has a fast burn rate so select your powder amount accordingly. My previously mentioned load was producing approx 128-129pf from a Glock 17.
  17. Make sure you have access to a chronograph to confirm your loads are making PF. CCI #500 primers are working well for me. I've had success with Berry's plated 147gr (on sale at Cabela's right now) and TG in my G17. I have some 147gr Blue Bullets to try this week and am trying to track down VV N320. When developing your personal powder preference look locally to avoid HAZMAT fees. 147gr Berry's and TG was more accurate than 124gr HP from Freedom. YMMV.
  18. What's the difference between Preferred and Premium Berry's Bullets? My local store had boxes marked Premium.
  19. Chip, are you using the new Lee Auto Drum? If not, you may need it for this load but it's definitely worth the money. I'm getting very accurate TG drops with mine.
  20. I would first focus on grip and controlling muzzle flip. That's a lot of movement for 9mm and once you get better control of the pistol you'll find your front sight a lot faster on follow up sights.
  21. Thanks, all, for the warm welcomes! I've reloaded some 223 in the past but I haven't dove into pistol reloading yet.
  22. I'm new to handgun only shooting competitions but have been shooting in local two gun matches off and on for about 5 years. I recently shot a weekday match at Wake County Firearms Center and will be shooting my first USPSA match at Sir Walter Raleigh in March, shooting Production with a Glock 17. I really like the competitive nature of handgun shooting and look forward to growing as a shooter. Thanks!
