Have you considered just swapping the barrel and adding a stock? You want to practice properly and the awkwardness of not shouldering would be a bourden in my eyes

I have a large tool box that is about 8 feet wide and 6 feet tall that I store all of my equipment in. The drawers work well for separating compartments and I can lock it as well
