  1. Shot my X5 with a 15lb 1911 spring on the stock guide rod tonight. This set up worked great and felt great while doing several drills. I may try a 14 lb spring to see how it feels. What's the lightest spring someone has used? Also, this was the first time I shot the gun since I got it back from grey guns. It's the best striker fired trigger I've shot and I'm really looking forward to shooting it in a match. From when I shipped it to them, I got the gun back in about a week and a half.
  2. The spring isn't in contact with the wings when in the slide. The wings did catch the spring as I was putting it in.
  3. I did what Alma suggested and took the entire spring off the recoil rod. A 1911 spring slips over the retaining wings of the stock guid rod. I will test fire the gun with this set up tonight.
  4. Picked up a comp Tac for the RX. The X5 mostly fit but sat a little high. I dremmeled down the bottom of the holster and the front of the slide protrudes about 1/2 inch or a little more. It's as good as any other competition holster I've used. It's on the springer hanger.
  5. I cut them with my dremmel. Otherwise I don't think it comes apart.
  6. I cut 4 coils out of my stock guide rod and it runs great with my minor ammo with125 gn bullet. I was thinking about cutting the wings that makes the stock guide rod captured and running a 1911 spring on it.
  7. Shot the first 200 rounds in my X5 today. I am overly impressed with how it shoots and how easy it is to track the dot. The gun is VERY accurate. Easily as accurate as my 9mm 2011. The only issue I had is the right side of My Romeo 1 is getting chewed up by the cases getting ejected. Is this normal? I'm worried that after thousands of rounds it could deform the frame of the sight? Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks
  8. Here are pics of two different mags and the lower. It's a DDLES lower which is QC10 now.
  9. I've been doing some dry fire with my PCC lately. While practicing reloads I've noticed my mags are starting to or are chewed up on the over travel stop ledge. I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this and if they have a solution? The edges of the over travel stop in the lower seem kind of sharp, so I may stone them to round it out a little. Any ideas welcome.
  10. The psa lower bho looks like the qc10 which never worked for me.
  11. I have quarter circle 10 lowers and took the bho out. My friend bought the new frontier side charger that has bho built into the upper and looks like it may actually work. If it were me I'd tend to buy an upper that already has it.
  12. Has anyone used these? Any feedback would be appreciated.
  13. It took a month for the blood blister to heal. The blood blister was from what remained of my mag catch that bounced off my trigger finger and went into orbit. No fun. Casehead separations in plastic guns hurt. I Was ROing someone recently and they had a casehead separation like the pic above in a 2011 with the same results...... nothing other than a jam.
  14. Being an LEO I stared USPSA to improve my shooting and gun handling, I stayed because I enjoy the sport. I've tried to get other LEOs to come shoot matches, but I've only been able to get one guy to come out and he never came back. He was in a special unit in the Marines and has been an LEO for a long time. He thought he was going to dominate and I think it crushed his ego to be smashed by an IT guy. I have a good buddy who works at a local department who competes with me in uspsa. We both did the State Police and Fire Games last year and he got first and I got second. The scoring for the match is time plus penalties. I was over two minutes ahead of the next competitor in a five stage match. Needless to say, most LEOs don't bother to practice outside of their agency mandatory qualifications (1-4 times a year). According to FBI statistics LEOs have an 80% miss rate in lethal force encounters. A little competition might help that.
  15. I'm currently running a Spikes T2 with a rifle spring in a Carbine buffer tune. With minor 147 ammo it shoots the smoothest of all the different combos I've been trying. I don't think the T2 even bottoms out in the carbine tube with a rifle spring. Kind of a pain to get all of that spring in the tube though.
  16. I can be as fast with a 30+ rounder but not as accurate finding the magwell. I think it's harder to point the mag in. My plan so far has been to use my Taylor Freelance 41 rd mag for the stage and have my G17 +6 mags ready to reload if I have to. I've only shot three matches with PCC so far and I'm learning as I go. On one classifier (disaster factor) I used one of the taco mag pouches. When I went to reload the tip of the bullet caught one of the elastic straps and sent it flying. I can attest that a safariland 771 will hold a 30+ rd mag while running around a stage like a mad man.
  17. Here is a link to a vid of me doing a 1 second reload with my 9 AR. If you look at my phone the par time is set to 1.01. For what ever reason, the program on my phone sets the time .01 higher than what I set it for.
  18. I use a guitar case I got for free. I like it and is easy enough to use. Put it on the ground unzip and off I go. Only thing is people always start making banjoe noises when I'm making ready.
  19. Have vid. Tried uploading here but the file is too large. Trying to get it on YouTube but it's not working well. If anyone has an idea on how to upload, please let me know. Thanks
  20. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but I'm consistently get under 1 second in dry fire. I'm using a safariland 771 mag pouch and brass Taylor freelance mag extensions. I set the timer on random start, aim in with finger on dead trigger, hear beep, grab mag just like i do with my limited gun, using index finger along front of mag, drop mag while I'm grabbing my new mag like limited reload, unshoulder and hold gun up in front of face slightly angled like I would limited reload, look at magwell then shove that baby in, then reshoulder and acquire A zone. Only thing I'm doing differently from my pistol reload is putting the mag 3 or 4" forward in the magwell. I'll try to get a video. I'm using a DDLES (Quarter Cirlce 10 lower).
  21. I'm using 147 berrys with 3.6 WSF. I have a rifle spring with an H2 buffer and the combo seemed to work well on my short range trip today (100 rds). I will see tomorrow how it works at the match.
  22. I have several different types of blow back rifles to include 9 ARs. On each type the brass comes out dirty.
  23. The proposed rules do not have a barrel length requirement. I would think there should be. Isn't it pretty challenging to travel across state borders with an SBR? Also, most people don't have access to SBRs. Actually, most people DO have access to SBRs. They are perfectly legal in almost all states if you are willing to spend the (comparatively paltry) $200 for a stamp and have the patience to wait 6 months for the paperwork. The few states that ban SBRs are the usual suspects. https://www.atf.gov/file/11361/download Fill this form out and send it in. The form can be good for up to a year. Its not at all hard to travel with NFA items. NFA is a lot easier than most people think. Just paper work and waiting if you can get over registering weapons.
  24. Way cheaper than flying. You can Rent a cheap plane for $120 an hour. Anything with range and speed to go some where cost big $$$. Heck I think a drug addiction would be cheaper than flying.
