  1. Try Practical Shooting Timer https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/practical-shooting-timer/id1116005685?mt=8 Par Time works great and has auto Reset/Repeat
  2. Never had a problem with my TS40, both with factory mags and factory mags with CZC Spring/follower kit, except when I tried 1.178" COAL. At that long, ammo were dragging inside the mag, so it went single shot. Factory ammo and reloaded ammo <= 1.170" are never a problem. If you're going to compete, dump the shock buff. They work when shooting slow, but fails when driving the gun a little harder than usual
  3. That's a freakin steal. Enjoy it OP. Coming from Glock, you'll need time adjusting.
  4. You can also try a reverse plug without a flange: http://www.shootersconnectionstore.com/Assets/ProductImages/S22R5C.jpg The issue though is that your plug channel is chopped and this could damage the frame if the slide bangs against it due to the remaining materials, so maybe, Briley plug is your best bet. If you cleanup the slide, you'll have more, cheaper, options.
  5. Search MosinVirus in YouTube. He built a 1911 and 2011 and explained the process in detail. Atlas Gunworks also has some videos but short ones. Gives you enough though.
  6. The step or the shoulder of the plug should be snug when inside the channel. I think it's pretty loose, that's why it's being beat up, because the plug rotates every time the slide moves. If you can't keep it in place, the tabs will be chewed up
  7. Somebody fitted a flanged plug. My 16-40 looks nothing like that and my plug goes all the way into the channel wiht nothing visible except from the front. You can see the rough cut. Maybe you/they tried a Briley plug? The more you use a lighter spring, the more it will bang and smash against the frame. The worse part is that the two small tabs left from cutting the plug channel would damage any shock buffer you might be trying. I'm willing to bet that plug you're using now is loose fitting. Use a flange-less plug or trim those tabs. Flange should rest on the slide rails anyway.
  8. "we're not sure if you're an actual human being" .288. I wish I can draw even twice that. .248 is damn impressive though.
  9. I don't think it was even holstered. S/he's a righty
  10. Why not a tungsten guide rod again? BTW, how did it broke and how long before it broke?
  11. It was shot without a sight picture, so it will be pretty close. And yeah, "where the heck did it go" and the finger remaining on the trigger way after she's done shooting
  12. it was a 2011 with pinned grip safety. I guess the secondary hook could catch the hammer but I was just glad I didn't have to find out. Other than pissed off, I'm good though. It wasn't the first time I stared death in the eye.
  13. Not me but a match I attended last month, a guy dropped his loaded gun while reloading on the move. The gun flipped and pointed up range. I saw the muzzle and it was clearly pointed at me and I was just 15 feet away. I was so pissed off, both at the guy and at myself because I froze and didn't duck. Only luck saved me.
  14. Looks like somebody fitted a Briley reverse plug. Does it look like a piece was removed from that part of the slide?
  15. True, but those parts are constant and common in either configuration. The end weight will differ from one gun to the other, but the weigh differential will be somewhat close. Edit: This is a reply to 2011BLDR. Nick - thanks for the figures. This gives me a clearer picture of what to expect
  16. Thanks. So, about an ounce then, for a standard slide.
  17. How much weight reduction can one expect from tri-topping? I have a slide with cuts. Wondering if tri-topping makes sense. Thanks.
  18. Thank you for posting that. It sure is useful info to me.
  19. Thanks. This looks clever and will lock the grip safety in place, eliminating any play. And is completely reversible and no parts harmed in the process.
  20. The gun looks pretty good. It seems JB weld works better when it's a bit hotter. It's more pliable and can be applied a bit thinner.
  21. That's really cool. Very flat, very little to no muzzle rise at all. Who did the tungsten sleeve and how is it attached to the barrel?
  22. I guess he's assuming it would be the same angle and since the sight radius is longer, hence, will rise higher. BUT...angle will not be the same due to several reasons, first one being, a heavier slide and one that is nose-heavy, will naturally be tamer, if ammo is the same. BUT...a 6" slide could dip more, if you don't have your fundamentals squared away, like me
  23. #11.5 main spring lights up my S&B all the time. I've been using it in matches for a while now with 0 problem so far. I used maybe around 7k now, on both my TS and SP-01 Tactical. It's a good primer but I can't tell if it's better than either CCI or Winchester. I had light strikes with CCI but that was my fault for not seating it deep enough. Winchester and S&B, 0 light strikes so far.
