  1. I picked up the MBX for my Rival-S after trying Rune for my S-2. The MBX fits the magazine tube better than Rune did, which was too short front to rear, which caused the follower to pop partially out of the front and cause empty mag drops to stick. The MBX w/ Henning basepad loaded 24+1 no problem, however I had multiple failures to load in one magazine. I am running a Rival-S with a Sprinco guide rod/yellow spring and 29 Newton striker spring. No other modifications. The MBX was disappointing that it did not run out of the box. I only shoot factory ammo. The stock mags run perfectly now. I did have a few similar malfunctions with the stock mags prior to installing the Sprinco recoil setup. As many have said, the gun seemed oversprung for regular ammo.
  2. I followed the link. In the drop down there wasn't a Rival or Rival-S listed.
  3. Got my Rival-S in... Ready to sell my S2. Questions I have so far: Which Sprinco guide rod system goes with the Rival-S? This one is for the Rival... Is the guide rod/spring the same between guns? I had a W74 Tungsten rod for the TP9SFX I had and it sticks out the front of the slide on the Rival-S. Anyone have a line on grip screws? I already have lost one after 3 range sessions and one has one thread left after a bit of misalignment swapping grips. Love the gun.
  4. It was specific to the Gen 5 version, I had the set screw slip the U-washer a couple times. It also had a very weak reset. The company was very good in sending me some replacement parts (extra U-washers and a heavier trigger return spring) but after a couple issues with a glock trigger I tend to lose patience. It's hard to have confidence in something after a couple match failures. I have one in a Gen 3 24 as well, I haven't had any issues, but I don't shoot it often and am not currently shooting matches with a .40. I don't have any Johnny Glock items, it's one avenue I never went with Glock. I would have to check if there's a dimple, but I'm guessing no because I got it when they first came out. I think one of the reasons the Timney can have a stutter on reset in the Gen 5s is because of the ambi slide release puts more metal in a small space. There is also variation in some of the frames. I ended up getting one of the Glock Performance ones fairly early and so far its been reliable.
  5. I bought twos Timneys and loved the idea in concept. Triggers felt awesome, but proved unreliable over time. I didn't care for certain parts of the design (the set screw/U-washer that connect the housing to the Timney drop-in and the trigger return spring). Glock is certainly late to the game, but it's not the same design. Conceptually it accomplishes the same thing, but does it "Glock Perfection" style. Installation isn't difficult with the Timney, but there are a couple more steps than the stock parts. The Glock Performance trigger install requires removing the pins, swapping the entire trigger and replacing the pins. For what it's worth (my opinion and $1.50 will get you a cup of coffee) I've been shooting Glocks for 20 years and tried a lot of different combinations. I've bought a couple Zev kits, the Timneys, and various other racey parts. Up to this point, I've always come back to stock parts with either a minus or dot connector, polishing and some spring swaps. I'm sure I've spent over a grand on Glock trigger parts over the years. Oh well. I have two gripes with the OEM polish/spring change setup I inevitably settled on. First, after trying the Timneys I found it hard to return to a dead trigger in dry fire. I like a little movement, but also like the first break, which you loose if you dry fire with the pistol slightly out of battery. Second, it was a very fine balance in getting the trigger weight down while still being 100% reliable on the varied primers I find myself using. The Glock Performance trigger solved both those issues. It would be awesome if 34s started coming with it and even better if they came out with a Gen 3 version.

I'd be surprised if the G17 was discontinued. My understanding is that they are still producing runs of Gen 3s.

  8. You didn't mention what kind of ammo you're using. My experience from the last couple months of shooting Shadow 2s has been that CGW 13# set off every type of factory ammo I've tried. In the last two weeks I went down to a CZC 12# main spring to get a (slightly) lighter DA pull. So far no light strikes, again with varied factory loaded ammo. Mostly CCI primers I believe. If things continue to go this way I'll probably go down to an 11# and see if that's 100%. I'm not a complete trigger snob, but obviously lighter is better. But 100% ignition is a must.
  9. Anyone seen one in the wild yet? They sent them to a ton of youtubers.
  10. I compete regularly with a 34 in CO right now. Previously I used a 34 in production before switching to a milled 17 for CO. Now I have a Gen 5 34 MOSs that I can use for either. I usually carry a 43, however I also have a 48 and on occasion have carried a 19 or 17. Glock has a ton of options for slight size changes based on weather and situation. I find value in having similar trigger and grip/manual of arms as I size up or down for the situation.
  11. Looks interesting, why not just put a slide on and sell the pistol though? If it's intended use is competition it's unfortunate it won't be allowed in production or CO.
  12. The Gen 5 was a huge improvement, but the Gen 3 magwell never bothered me until there was something better available. Same with the front serrations. Strange how that goes... The only thing that I had issue with was the lack of beavertail and how I would get a cut on my strong side thumb. If only I would have sorted my grip out rather than using a extended beaver tail I would have shot better earlier. The Gen 3 34 was my first competition gun, but luckily I kept mine. I imagine I always will.
  13. Found the gun, at https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/712024563/cent+canik+rival-s+9mm+5+chrome+18rd but listed as USED and SOLD? Surprised that a quick google search didn't yield results, would expect it to be getting a lot of hype. Any idea on price/release date?
  14. Just had the same problem at a match today... My screws connecting the adapter plate to the slide sheared off after about 20,000 rounds, in the middle of the stage. The screws in the slide are just below flush and I had lock tited them and tightened to 15in-lb for both the adapter and sight. Anyone have any good experiences getting the screws out of the slide? Seems a little silly to try and send back to Glock to get them out. I'm also a little worried about the issue happening again. If something was on incorrectly I would have expected a problem much earlier.
  15. Anyone have one for the DC precision frame weight yet? Have a G24 that I put the DC frame weight on. I previously had an SJC frame weight, the holster for that doesn't fit the DC. Looking for kydex.
  16. Anyone know the current timeline for these things being available again?
  17. Why the G20 over the G22, 35 or 24? I've never shot a 10mm, so there may be something I'm totally missing. Just curious.
  18. I bought 2 thug plugs-one for each CO Glock. Both required slight filing to reduce protrusion. Also, one fits really nice and snug, the other is a bit looser. Neither gun was new when I installed them, so the loose tolerance may be due to the frame. I don't notice any difference in performance, but the slight movement in one is kind of annoying. I also have both steel and tungsten guide rods, both captured. The slightly heavier guns seem to be a little more enjoyable to shoot, but the added weight doesn't equate to better performance on drills or stage times for me.
  19. I have just under 25k this year on 3 guns/ DPPs. Two of the 3 DPP were new at the end of 2018, but one is from 2017. I didn’t keep track of rounds fired previously, but probably similar. So far so good. I’d guesstimate I changed batteries 8-10 times, all three sights are still running. I’m still going to try an SRO due to the window size. Going to delta points from the Insight MRDS was a significant improvement.
  20. I’ve found the base pads with longer springs on oem glock tubes and followers to be the most reliable combo. It’s more expensive, and I am only getting 22 rounds, but the TTI, Dawson and Zev have all been very reliable with longer springs. I have used Magpul and had some issues with them falling free and found their composite not as smooth loading as OEM. I saw so many issues with guys using ETS mags in matches that I never tried them. If basepads are absolutely not an option I would go with the extended (+2) OEM Glock mags. https://www.brownells.com/magazines/handgun-magazines/magazines/gen-5-magazine-for-glock-g17-19x-prod116292.aspx They are $27 on Brownells and you will have a reliable 19 round mag.
  21. I’ve had good results with a number of companies including blade tech, red hill and Safariland. The critical piece I’ve found is having a good hanger that interacts well with the belt and holster and keeps everything in place. Of the metal aftermarket ones I’ve tried RHT and BOSS, I prefer the BOSS hanger, which seems more rigid with aluminum going down much further on the holster body.
  22. Since the other threads are locked, anyone hear anything yet?
  23. Ok... I have been shooting the gen 5s since late last year. I have spare parts and I don’t use the OEM triggers. The transfer will cost me the same if I spend $100 shipped or 175 plus shipping so I’d prefer $100. As for the slides, Gen 5 aftermarket ones are out, no need to use an older gen. Let’s get back on topic. Looking for a place selling stripped Gen 5 full size frames.
