I'd go with a Dan Wesson PM 9 and call it a day. No need to spend $4K on a gun when $1300 will get you a mighty fine 9mm that will run with anything, and leaves plenty of room for any future upgrades.

Rock Island Pro Series .40 - Review

Selway or Top Gun Supply generally has grip frames in stock.
-
Unfortunately, have not received it back yet. They have had it about a month. Received shipping information this morning, so it is on the way back to me. Will update when I have a chance to shoot it again.

Not really sure the TS needs any sort of recoil reduction system. The gun is so soft shooting to start with.
-
Shoot people? Then bypass the 9 and 40 and go straight to a 10mm.

$29.95 from Greg Cote.

Sorry for your issues zzt, but the TS trigger is hardly crap compared to 1911's. As I own 8 1911's, all have had some trigger work, and are all very clean and crisp, the TS while a little different, but no where in my vocabulary would I even consider calling it mushy.

Range Officer Champion is made in a 9 as well. Model PI9137LP. http://www.springfield-armory.com/products/1911-range-officer-champion-9mm/ You may be looking at the Champion Operator which is .45 only.

It is lighter than the 75B, which come in around 35-oz. If you are looking at the compact, may want to look at the RO Champion. The frame is a little taller giving you 9 rounds versus 8 rounds for the compact. It is a little heavier, but still lighter than the CZ. It is a great little gun which I am sure she will enjoy shooting.

That would have been my suggestion as well, but it does have Bomar style sights, which is something the OP was adimit about not having.

My take on the gun after owning it for a little while and running about 500 rounds through it. DA/SA is very nice, but the takeup in SA is a little bit much. My main issue, the groups are great, but everything is down and to the left of POA around 2" at 10 yards, and even more so at 20-25 yards. While I am able to adjust for shooting left, as there are no other sights available, the only thing I could do would be to file an already short front sight down. I had two friends shoot the gun with the pretty much the same results. In speaking with CGW, the spring kits he offers will improve the DA, but will do nothing for the takeup of the SA and does not see any way around it. Some of the issues we were discussing are some of the common complaints he has heard on the pistol. Having the gun shooting low is an issue for me, so I called Kriss. They quickly responded with an RMA for repair, but they expected me to pay for the return shipping. I nicely explained to customer service, that I did not find this to be acceptable. This is a new pistol, that is not exactly low priced, and they were the first factory/importer I have ever dealt with that expected me to pay for a return for something that has an issue with the function. They relented and sent me a return label. Personally, I find it abhorant they would expect me to pay the cost of return shipping for repair. Not sure how long repair will actually take or what they will do to correct the problem, but will update this thread once it is received back from Kriss.

I don't think I'd let anyone "learn" on any of my guns! Agree 100000000%

Try Evolution Armory http://www.evolutionarmory.com Or Alchemy Custom http://1911doctor.com

Let's face it, Kriss is not doing much to support the Sphinx. I recently got a compact, and it shoots extremely well right out of the box, but try and find extra mags, they are non existent, unless you want to modify others. Heck, they advertised Halo sights 2 years ago, and still vapor. Such a shame, as the product, albeit expensive, is great right out of the box. Sad, they are not doing anything to support the aftermarket.

Does anyone know of an extended mag release for these?

My TS did the same first time out. Adjusted pre-travel, and works as it should.

Agree with all the above. If this is something you are wanting, why not. -
Rick, what is she shooting now?
