  1. Thanks for the reply, I will have to look up Olhasso and Mojo. DAA has moon clips? will look again, must have just missed them.
  2. Any consensus on spring kits, Wilson Combat, Wollfs?
  3. I have used C-More to fix a broken scope, price is cheaper than buying new. The Antifa/BLM folks are not rioting the postal service. yet?
  4. Do you find that the 185s are a bit snappy?
  5. EGW has an undersize die also,
  6. I have talked to people, and read about moon clips. I have TK .035, and the folks that I know, all run the same. Seems everyone is using Winchester brass, and through my test of different brands, Winchester seems the tightest. So, I will run with what i have and maybe try some .040 later. As far as brass bulge, I use an EGW under size die and have no problems with my open gun, I know pistols are different, but suspect it will work.
  7. Thanks everyone for the input, as far as sights or optics, I'm going to stick with the sights for now and see how I like a revolver, I am going to change the front to fiber. I shoot open as a rule and like my C-Mores. As far as primers go, I have CCI SPP, haven't seen any others out in the wild to change to, so will stick with that until availability changes. Also going to replace the grip, I handled a 929 with the Hogue smooth Big Butt and liked it. I will be playing around with a spring kit and hammer in the near future, I have all winter to find different primers and tuning.
  8. I have 2 with C-More, click switch, plastic bodies, for steel match. Had one on an open pistol for years, replaced with RTS2. All operate as advertised, no issues, wouldn't hesitate using the C-More product. Battery life on both styles has been great, no issues. Buy with confidence.
  9. I am going to try a load I already have for my wife's 9mm, 147 extreme, Winchester cases, and CCI SPP, a good place to start. Any suggestions on the work you recommended?
  10. I just purchased a S&W 929, I have been looking through this forum looking for sites to go to for improving my new pistol. Any suggestions on sites and or parts will be greatly appreciated. Being new to revolvers, are the shells supposed to be held tightly in the moon clips, or is there some movement? I got TK Customs .035 moon clips with it, I have been trying different cases, and so far, Winchester fit the tightest. I am an open shooter, so this thing is completely foreign to me, the last revolver I shot was 20= years ago in the military.

  12. Thanks for the replies. I will definitely be looking into these recommendations. I have been wanting to try SWC bullets in the past, so now may be the time. I see that everyone says that they work, if loaded to the correct length? any input?

    45acp

Hope I can get a little help, Hornady discontinued their .452" 230gr lead bullet in the Frontier line. So I am on the hunt again for a replacement bullet, what are your thoughts. I'm not stuck on 230, 200 would be good also. Oh, 45acp, I've always used round nose, works.
  14. I do believe I am going to go down the road of a JEM, I like what I see on their site. They are very reasonable on their prices.
  15. Sarge, a good heat gun will get it loose no problem
  16. I finally found the reference I am referring to, Brownells 1911 Auto Extractor Adjustment, which is from Jack Weigand.
  17. That's how I set mine up, I don't shoot super very much, but it functions. I can not find the link for the extractor setup right know, but I have been using this method for many calibers for years, and it works. For me, it's no guessing. Brazo's has very good info on their site, and Steve in Allentown(this site) has a very detailed explanation of extractor fitting. I have also settled to one type of brass per caliber. Doesn't matter which kind, but when extractor is tuned to a type of brass, you are not subject to dimensional differences between manufactures. I have found this to be true more with 38SC, Armscor has enough difference, that I will not use it, it doesn't even run through the press or my pistols very well.
  18. I have 2 38S/SC guns, I do nothing special for tuning the extractor. I have a SC shell case that I drilled a hole through the web of the case, and use a paperclip through it. Use a trigger pull gauge and adjust tension until I get between 25 to 28 oz. pull when the shell case comes loose from the extractor. Both S and SC work as advertised
  19. I really like the looks of the DWX, but believe the round is shorter than what I'm using in my limited pistol. I've thought about 9, but will stay with major PF. I missed a Trojan through GB, will keep on lookin.
  20. Both valid points, wasn't even thinking of the power factor. Was looking on the gun sites at the major manufactures. Thinking that if I bought a 10mm and then replaced the barrel with a 40, it might be the easiest and possibly the least expensive way to go about it. Well, I don't want a 6 inch barrel, a light rail, and would like adjustable rear sites. Not many options out there. Probably end up purchasing a Caspian of Jem setup and going from there.
  21. I'm getting the hankering for another single stack? I am leaning toward a 40S&W because I already have a 40 limited pistol. But, I also shoot open in 38SC, and really enjoy that caliber. I only shoot SS a couple of times a year, but if I had a pistol that I really enjoyed, it might interrupt my open shooting. Decisions, decisions? What say you all?
  22. Well, I went to the shop this week, removed enough of the slidestop pin to be level with the frame, shot a match yesterday. So far, so good.
  23. Do what rishii suggests, it's what I do, works great. My local hardware store sells Brownells' gunsmith screws, but as always, someone will beat you to the punch. McMaster-Carr all the way.
  24. I have been using a Nitro Fin for a few years now. I use the NF more as a place to get a consistent grip, rather than putting pressure on the pistol. I have figured out, that if gripped to hard, I was actually pushing the pistol to the right. I would imagine the same would go for the Atlas rest.
  25. I know the tab that you are talking about, it is there, and I can not push the SS out. Right now, I'm going with fat fingering it out during a reload, at least for now.
