  1. Lower profile and slighter bigger screen. Great customer service and they sponsor tons of matches. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  2. So I have been listening to Practical Pistol, That Shooting Show, Triangle Tactical, and Shannon Smith. What other ones are out there that people like. Looking at ones that cover USPSA.
  3. HA! missed that last line. Goes to show you need to read the whole thing not just where you think it should be. C models are allowed providing that the barrel is non-ported and the other requirements are met. Short Frame (SF) versions of models approved.
  4. I would not be so sure on that one. That model glock is not on the approved list and the rules prohibit using a different barrel that is not OFM or similar to that models barrel. For locals you would probably be fine, but at some point you may get called out. BARRELS: Current rules remain in effect - you may replace the barrel with an OFM or aftermarket barrel which is of the same length, contour and caliber as the original barrel for that model of gun. Special Notes/Clarifications: For purposes of this interpretation, a barrel within +/- 0.1" of OFM is "the same length". Barrels of the same length, contour and caliber but with different crown profiles are authorized.
  5. That is crap that you need to shoot x number of matches before a level 2. What you need to have is a good understanding of the rule book, which I hope anyone that is going to any sort of competition would have. If a person DQs it is because they were too lazy to make sure they knew the rules or to make sure their equipment is appropriate and in good working order. It sounds like you are doing things right, becoming a SO and a RO. Go to the match you will learn tons and find out what the next level of competition looks like.
  6. I am working on having specific drills with specific goals. Just going to the range and shooting drills without a goal I found to be very frustrating as I don't have any way to tell if I accomplished something.
  7. I have shot all the different weights in 9, 40, and 45. I like a middle weight bullet as it is a good compromise of softer recoil, but still works the action fast enough that to return the sights quickly. I would also say that people that run 147s should tune their gun to them. I see so many people run a stock set up and then use 147s and the brass just dribbles out and eventually causes malfunctions. My preferred bullets are the 124s competitions from ORM tech. They offer a discount code for first orders, 5josh17.
  8. At the bare minimum they will have commitments to their sponsors to be at certain events, i.e. SHOT, and are not getting any extra money for that. My guess is still zero though.
  9. It has, but it usually takes some time to get her running. They tend to only like certain ammo and they are also the only platform I have had get bump fire and one went full auto (these were used guns and happened within 100 rounds of purchase). You will want to keep up with your spring replacements. I would also look into holsters, mag pouches, tac light, and other accessories first.
  10. I don't like external hammers and I really don't like metal mags as our department trains indoors and the concrete just crushes the feed lips. Just not a typical duty gun. Not saying it cant be done as the 2011 platform is a great gun, but just would not be my first choice.
  11. Hello, Fellow LEO from MN. Welcome to the forums and you are correct that this forum has a ton of information. I am curious why you want to go with a 2011 vs any of the plastic fantastic guns? I primarily run a 2011 in competition and it is not a gun that I would want to run as my duty gun.
  12. you will have to ambush it. Pick a spot where you want to shoot the target and concentrate on a 1 solid shot and then do that again for at least 1 more pass. If it is a really tight shot then put 3 on target. This is how you will see swingers as almost all major matches.
  13. I can see that and agree that a little live fire is going to prove that a rest is either for you or not.
  14. I don't see how you push shots when using it. If you are pushing your shot then you are changing your grip as you pull the trigger thus moving your sights. I grip hard and push down on both thumb rest and safety. I would challenge the people that are "pushing" their shots to really look at their grip.
  15. In regards to your ammo question, running factory will not only not make major, but the powder they use is not going to work your comp as it is designed. ORMtechammo.com is where I get all my competition ammo. They are remodeling they webpage and 38 is not listed on there, but they do have it. Price was $21-22 before any discounts. Use discount code 5josh17 for 5% off any order.
  16. I use Titegroup with coated 230 @ 4.3 grains and easily make major. I have never experimented with titewad and pistol loads.
  17. I think that you think to much. ha. I have never broke any decision down this much. Good for you. Go with the Dillion or Hornady LNL you will be a lot happier in the end.
  18. I actually like shooting revo, but the idea of open revolver is terrible. There just won't be enough interest, but I think of letting them in Carry Optics is a great idea.
  19. I am thinking about getting one after last night. Local match and had an unloaded start. I run the thumb rests with the tall sides to prevent from stopping the slide. I just put them on and because of that I have to grip the slide higher and my finger caught on a sharp edge of the rear sight and ripped a chunk of skin off. Ha. Why do all lessons have to be learned on the clock.
  20. I have also had good experience with Enos. I have purchased a gun and it went as smooth as I could hope. I still used the whole trust but verify rule though. If they want my money then they name and a phone number is the least that they can do. With that call them on the phone and talk to them. I find an actual conversation to be a very good way to get a feel for someone.
  21. Titegroup is what I use for 9, 40, and 45. No issues with the smoke. I run Bayou 180s so pretty equivalent.
  22. Interesting. What match was this?
  23. Not sure about the numbers but some match results will just list steel as one A. That may be the difference.

    Cost

Depends on how many components you are willing to get at a time and where at. Primers are $.04 or less, powder $.01-.02, and bullet is anywhere from $.06 to .10. If you can find federal small pistol primers I would go with that, especially if you are running a light striker spring other wise Winchester. I run Titegroup for all my ammo and light it. Bullets you can with any of the coated bullets (bayou, blue bullets, black bullets, etc) So with range brass my cost for 9mm is under $.11 as I run the cheapest of everything and buy in bulk online. With Bayou 124s I run 3.5 grains of Titegroup and it makes power with any gun.
