  1. Thank you Chuck. I have one more question. If I shoot my Tanfo Stock2 at CO Nats, I am just gonna get bumped up to Open division right? then I don't have to bring my glock if my intention is just to shoot CO nats for fun. You could be the open national champ.
  2. Depending on the kind of magazine you can also sometimes find a feed lip forming tool so when you smack it with a hammer they go into roughly the right shape.
  3. Right, but does that mean carrying it around, or does it mean retaining the document (at your house) and showing it to them at the first convenience, like if the IRS wanted to see one of your old 1040s? I think the thread got a little off topic.
  4. There isn't a license nor a permit to own NFA items, just a tax stamp. You don't have to carry that tax stamp around with you either. Why would the burden of validating the legality of a competitor's equipment fall on the range? That's not how I have heard it's done. I thought if you had an auto, sbr, suppressor etc you had to show proof of legality on the spot if asked. Only an ATF agent has the authority to ask to see your tax stamp. If you live in a state that has those funny NFA laws where they're double-illegal to possess without a stamp it's usually an affirmative defense to produce it for the LEO.

  6. Were you able to squad up right when you registered? I was not. Took a few hours. It's practiscore so you pay when you register and then you must be manually approved to squad.
  7. You gotta keep the sport fresh and changing to the times and the kinds of guns that are popular. A sport that doesn't change at all will die.
  8. If you come out to one of the matches I'm sure someone would shoot your gun for you and tell you you're good to go.
  9. 1/12/2016 Dryfire Report I was doing a little safe-cleaning and happened to pull out my CZ-75. It's pretty old, a pre-B model. Since I haven't shot it in awhile, at least not since I've started shooting a 2011, I decided to do a little dryfire with it. I like it, it's not quite as different going from the 2011 to this as it was going from plastic to the CZ. I should get some more mags for it. 1/13/2016 Livefire Report Went out for some livefire practice. Did shooting on the move, set up some swingers and some clamshell movers and practiced on those. I feel like I have a lot of confidence with movers that some competitors lack and I was able to consistently 2A on them by aiming, not trapping them or whatever. Fun stuff. 1/16/2016 Dryfire Report I read Foley's little announcement about PCC and I decided I'd take my PCC out to shoot the 3 gun match with on the weekend. So I practiced with it for awhile since I haven't handled it in forever.
  10. It's called the locking block. The rough spot on the M&P's locking block is the spot where it's broken off from the others when it's cast. It's normal. Have you shot groups with the gun yet? If it shoots fine I wouldn't worry about the chip. If it bothers you though and you don't think you can live with it send it back. Smith is pretty quick on warranty service and they'll probably toss in some extra mags for your trouble.
  11. Why would it? You forget that clubs have already been beta-testing PCCs in matches for awhile with no concessions to the division in terms of stage design. I can't think of anything on a field course you could do with a handgun that you can't do with a rifle.
  12. Sounds like you're off to a good start. Shooting as fast as you can see your sights is pretty much perfect, don't worry that it's not as fast as that RO wanted at your current level of skill. If you stick with doing that, you'll start seeing (and shooting) faster in no time at all. As you get a few matches under your belt you'll learn that you don't need to have a perfect sight picture every time, but what the minimum acceptable sight picture is for you to get hits on target. Wide open targets at 7 yards the minimum acceptable sight picture is pretty generous.
  13. I shot PCC today at a match with my Marlin Camp Carbine. Lots of fun.
  14. You gonna shoot the paper with birdshot? That's a lot of taping.
  15. Seriously. Once I get to the range and get started I can't wait to leave, why is everyone taking so long. Make ready is make ready. If it takes the shooter 10 seconds or a minute to make ready to shoot the stage, doesn't matter, it's their time. You're just there to say the next range command when they assume the start position.
  16. Because while we desire guns in .40 for our gun games, the majority of people who buy these 1911s (read: non-competitors) do not want a gun in .40.
  17. Foley posted this on the USPSA forum: Looks like it's possibly a thing.
  18. 1/10/2016 Match Report Open Div - 2nd of 11 - 93.28% Overall - 3rd of 59 - 93.2% Classifier 99-59 "Lazy Man Standards" (12A 5C 2D 5M 21.31s) - 1.5955 HF - 21.17% 509 of 630 available points - 87A 28C 6D 5M 2NPM - 80.79% (92.69% without penalties) So, I think I simultaneously had a great match and a poor match. I thought I did smashingly on every field course. I moved quickly, shot quickly, and called absolutely every shot. I even had time to process whether or not it would be worth it to make up a delta (I judged not and moved on to the next target in both cases). I was punching consistently with and above the other open masters at the event. It all went so bad on the first stage though, the classifier. I'm not sure why. It wasn't even in my head or anything, but my hands wouldn't settle and I didn't feel in control like I did the rest of the match. You can see me flexing my hands above my head while waiting for the buzzer, it was nasty. I'll have to work on it. Overall I think I have improved a lot since last year. Looking forwards to the new season.
  19. 1/8/2016 Dryfire Report Long sesh today as I really felt the need to get back in the swing of things now that the inlaws are gone. El Prez to draw to first shot to 4 aces.
  20. (at 1 minute 8 seconds) I opted not to shoot it. My hit factor was about 10.5 so I don't think there would have been a way to shoot it without reducing my HF. Maybe it would have been worth it for shooters in other divisions. If you shot it by approaching the port in the barrels it wouldn't be visible. If you shot it like I shot it would be visible on the ground. Not a big deal I think.
