  1. I'm pretty sure it's tonight ... Not sure of the time.
  2. I remember retreat stages back to at least '94. They were more common in higher level matches than in club matches even then. Part of the reluctance by instructors in recommending the use of such designs (in my opinion) is that at the local level the experience levels of both the shooters and the ROs could lead to an unacceptable level of risk due to course design. I've come to a limited agreement with this. From a risk management point of view I think retreat stages at club matches should be limited and simple. As you go up on level of match it can become more sophisticated. By the time you get to level 3 (or higher, internationally) just about anything goes.
  3. In my experience it dependes on how much (if any) astigmatism you had/have left. This will drive the dot (or other objects) to appear skewed even when your focus is otherwise fully corrected. I think using your red dot to help get the correct adjustment here makes sense. The distortion (I think) shows up faster with the dot than on the optomitrist's eye charts.
  4. In my observations, we tend to have shooters go to various places in a CoF where they need to fire 6-8 rounds then move on. This is true whether you're on an 8 round CoF or a 32 round CoF. Hence, even now with the limits removed on 'no more than 2 locations or views' for short courses, our short courses tend to be rather static and, quite frankly, boring. On the other hand, IPSC has for a number of years viewed the entire sport as a 'Dynamic' shooting sport. i.e., Movement, preferably while shooting, is somewhat required. I've seen 12 round IPSC courses which could not possibly be done in less than 3 positions ... but were more efficiently approached as 'Beep, shoot, run and keep shooting until you got to the end.' That's generally not a boring short course.
  5. One division? Limited MINOR? I'm a firm believer in Major/minor options. We need to avoid sissifying the sport.
  6. Granted, a L2 only requires 3 stages ... So, hard to get a 3/2/1 mix. A L2 should be at least 6 stages ... So, a 3/2/1 mix is eminently doable.
  7. I'm waiting for that first big EMP ... My iron sights will still work. Not so sure about my electronic red dots!
  8. More typically, 3-4 out of 6. It does affect the calculus on capacity some WRT 15 rounds loaded. Reminder ... IPSC medium courses can be up to 24 rounds. USPSA is only up to 20.
  9. Though I would note ... Under IPSC rules with a 3/2/1 stage mix, fully half of the stages will require NO reload for Production or Production Optics. (Only for Classic and Revolver ... and they're USED to reloading!) Our USPSA "Hose Fest" mentality actually does affect the calculus.
  10. About 30 years ago I used to run a club on base in Germany. In the monthly newsletter I'd always state: If we're not having fun, we're doing something wrong! Some things (should) never change ...
  11. Thought problem ... IF the classifier/classification system were perfect, what would be the need to hold annual national championship matches? Y'all seemed concerned about the fiscal blood bath of the Nationals ... Perfect the classification system and perhaps we wouldn't need to run Nationals at all! (Tounge-in-cheek mode:off)
  12. Rhetorical question ... Are there even enough board members left to constitute a quorum in order to hold a meeting? {Tounge-in-cheek mode:Off}
  13. If I'm not mistaken, the A5D's term was due for election this summer anyway. Are you sure he resigned, or has he just decided not to run again?
  14. How retro ... Go back 30 years and that's exactly how the game was played!
  15. Don't know ... I'm thinking of calling them. Wonder if I can actually get to a person that actually knows what they're talking about!
  16. I'm still on the fence concerning the Garmin Chrono ... The battery, though listed as rechargeable, is also listed as NOT replaceable. ALL batteries die at some point. I'm not sure I want to spend ~$600 on a unit that I might have to trash because I cannot replace the battery.
  17. No worries. I cheated. I knew where to look!
  18. Appendix C2 - Chronograph Hope that answers your question ...
  19. Ah Ha! Found the source of the discrepency ... Two different document numbers and two different filings: 88347394 filed 03/19/2019 88653994 filed 10/14/2019 Apparently they screwed up, realized it about 6 months later, then refiled. I guess we now hold a TM for both IPSP and IPSC ... FWIW, by the dates this all happened under the Foley administration ... A lot of folks have changed since then. Thanks @BritinUSA ... I didn't doubt you, just something didn't quite add up.
  20. Strange ... When I clicked on the link provided in your post, it seems what was actually registered was I P S P, not I P S C. (Where did you find the link to the page you posted?) Application - USPTO TSDR Case Viewer and Certificate - USPTO TSDR Case Viewer The ineptitude goes back some years, methinks!
  21. Absolutely trust Ben on this, but for those who want to see the official document ... HIT FACTOR - United States Practical Shooting Association Trademark Registration (uspto.report) Some questions still linger, however: - Whose idea was this? - Who approved hiring an attorney to do the filing? - How much are the fees (for this foolish endeavor) costing USPSA? - What corrective actions will be taken?
