  1. Everything I see says to do so. I think as precaution against the previous owners possible mistakes.
  2. I have a rear sight hinge pin that broke. I "fixed" it by adding a .067 pin I had on hand but it is slightly loose and will eventually walk out. Where can I buy a 1.75 mm diameter pin? STI rear sight.
  3. Just want to add this tidbit. A base layer of silk socks will do wonders to help keep you warm in temperatures well below zero. I know it seems like non sense but give it a try. Silk pulls the moisture away.
  4. I wear whatever I need to wear in order to stay comfortable while at any match any time of the year. The extra layers come off when I get in the hole. I always shoot in jeans and a shirt no matter the temperature. You will be just fine in temps below zero for the 10 minutes max it will take the previous shooter to run the stage, reset and for you to run the stage. I'm from Wisconsin and shoot year round. I can only think of a handful of times I changed from this routine.
  5. Titegroup bullseye meters terribly but 700x makes a great 9mm load if you can drop it
  6. You will be classified in all auto divisions (less bug) as a SS under the new rules, since you earned SS in one of them. Best rule change from the new book, not that there was much competition.
  7. I think the awards mean much more to some than they do to me. I grew up as an athlete in the late eighties/early nineties, the time period that the awards for every place started flowing in. Wrestling was done with eight person brackets and there was an eighth place ribbon. I have only only received two awards for shooting but I gave them away to my nephews as soon as they saw them. I just can't say that they matter to me.
  8. I handled it today and picked up everything but the gun itself. Apparently it's a felony to private transfer a firearm to someone residing in a different state. I knew I would only be getting the "add-ons" before I left. Great guy. Seven total mags, loaded rounds, holster, powder, and bullets. I'm on the fence about pulling the bullets. I know I'm going to dump or give away the powder that's open. Gun has some holster wear but other than that it's in great shape. Seller stated 1.75 pound crisp trigger. I would say he's close if not correct. I will post photos later in the week once I pick it up from my ffl.
  9. I agree you kept your finger out I started shooting single stack and had that happen a few times before I adopted a load and make ready ritual which includes tugging on the mag to ensure it is fully seated.
  10. Actually missed the part about the aluminum trigger. Open it is.
  11. Ported barrel-open standard barrel-carry optics
  12. You will need to adjust the die height up slightly so the alarm will not activate early like it is. It appears to be placing extra pressure on the blue box the way it is. You will then need to fine tune the plunger to meet your powder amount tossed. These are rather slick once setup.
  13. I'm sure I could do more but I am not the best "production worker" and probably measure everything way more times than I need to.
  14. I have run a good number of slug out a modified choke over the years and ic is even more open. You should be fine.
  15. No harm in adding a tube to the one you already have and trying it out for a few matches before diving in. You can most likely sell it once you've upgraded for only a slight loss.
  16. I dedicate a day every so many months and just pump out proven loads. I can easily get 3000 done in a full day, 12+ hours. I do the same for casting, although I lube them on random weeknights. I find I'm more productive when I just pound them out.
  17. Ask and answer questions. I would have believe in one short months time you (and I) will get there.
  18. Mike---this is the same gun. Honestly, I am not excited to drive 5.5 hours each direction. I originally committed to do it because the seller had no selling history and I did not want to be scammed. Once I spoke with the seller after the auction was completely satisfied I would feel comfortable just sending the money order and a waiting the shipped gun but the seller offered to include reloading components which would require hazmat fees that will add up. I am comfortable enough to make the drive to save these fees, I have to make similar trips occasionally for work. The way I see it, I would spend more than 13 hours getting a load developed to the point of his ammo. I can use that ammo as a starting point for the load development.
  19. I have changed a few sights and added a few different trigger kits to my M&Ps as well as a number of guns from guys at my local club. I did the first one with a steel punch since the aluminum one that came with the sight set got all sorts of buggered up. I wrapped the steel punch in electrical tape, not sure if that really would help or not, and was super careful. I was able to remove the old sight, install the Apex competition kit and add the new sight. After that one I purchased a universal sight pusher. The only thing bad about a universal sight pusher is everyone will now want your help or to use it. Point being you may need to use a stronger punch or go all in and use a sight pusher. Those rear sights come off hard.
  20. I believe the transfer of a handgun between a buyer and seller residing in different states requires an ffl. I have a buddy with an ffl who is known to be knowledgeable in these matter who I will check with Monday. I will still travel the 11 hours round trip for the reloading components.
  21. Edited picking up to save paying. The gun itself will need to be transferred through an ffl due to federal law. It may be a strange law but it will need tone followed. I will still meet face to face to grab all the other stuff to save on shipping. Hazmat fees are steep enough to justify the trip.
  22. I am quite happy using two of the double magazine comptac mag holders for shooting both IDPA and production. I know you only need one double for IDPA but for the sake of consistency I use two. Thay line up well for me and belt loops to ensure the holders are in the same spot. I have tried another popular brand (do not want to publicly demean) and comptac adjusts more precisely. Great product
  23. Would you care to share the load data? Feel free to sub velocity for powder charge if you would be more comfortable sharing that way
