  1. I'm ok with the PCC getting to score as major provided they shoot a 7mm Rem mag. That would be hilarious to see. I am sure each club is different but the local few that shoot pcc are for lack of a better phrase are a difficult and different group of guys. I would love to see them shoot 200 rounds of a high recoiling gun the one time they would try it. Right, wrong or other wise it would make me chuckle. Heck I'm chuckling just thinking about it.
  2. Update Gun is fully fixed now but it was not a direct path to get here. The first sear spring I installed was shorter than the one originally in the gun. I just figured it was a difference in manufacturing tolerances. This created a problem when I was firing the gun the disconnecter leg could get under the disconnecter. Turns out SVI triglide systems have a shorter disconnecter and longer sear spring. I ordered two triglide sear springs. Both needed the tab on the sear side removed to fit the gun, no space in there for the tab. With the tab removed there is only about .020 clearance. This means the original sear spring with the missing tab was not the problem after all. Back to the drawing board. The heavy trigger pull only happened with a mag freshly inserted into the gun. I could replicate the problem by pushing back on the bottom of a mag. The gremlin was a simple fix. Some how my over travel screw went in just a smidge too far. Now that I backed it out a quarter turn everything is fine. On the bright side I now have two new sear springs set for a clean 1.5 lb trigger pull, one in the gun and a spare. I also have the old one as a backup. I understand the gun a lot better. The gun has a few hundred round as setup and I am confident it's fully fixed. I do find it strange that the overtravel screw can be fine without a mag but with one be just a little too far in but that was the case.
  3. Well it's fixed. Functions perfectly with a crisp 2.4-2.6 trigger pull. Took a few tries to get the disconnector to work as it should. I don't really know why it gave me fits but full take down and reassemble fixed it. I could probably adjust the sear leaf slightly lower but I'm done for the night. I think I will reduce the trigger pull on my 1911 before I come back to this one, 2.5 pounds is fairly good but before it broke I had a sub 2 pound pull. Thanks
  4. It cannot hurt to try one, there is a reason they are so popular. If you don't like it try something else. Personally I like green.
  5. Thank you. I do understand what each of the leafs do. I have a fairly good idea of what I need to do. I was mainly worried if I would have to fuss with the sear/hammer interface. I did not think I would have to and after checking with the local guys, I now know that I will not. I worked a fair amount of years as a process engineer and have a habit of trying to eliminate any potential problems, aka I overthink things. I would still like to know if it's an old wives tail to not drop the slide on an empty chamber.
  6. Thanks for the help so far. I was able to speak with a few 1911/2011 guys at league tonight. Everyone agrees that the sear spring is its own component and I will not need to address the sear, hammer or trigger bar. I will most likely need to adjust the sear spring but there is a slim chance I will not. Some guys believe I should not adjust it while others have. Google shows me how. I believe I will be able to get it back under 2 pounds and will update with the results. From what I have heard this evening it should be fairly easy to do.
  7. I recently borrowed my 2011 to a friend whom makes holsters to use as a stand in for one someone had ordered as he does not have one. He had asked me to check the trigger pull when I got it back and the pull was noticeably harder than the sub 2 pound pull it had before. I took the gun fully apart (for the first time) and noticed the tab that rest against the sear of the left finger was missing. I have ordered a replacement sear spring and feel fairly confident that I can adjust the new spring to give me a 2 pound pull by bending the fingers as required. Every article I have read states to start by adjusting the hammer and sear. I plan on skipping that part since the trigger was great before. Will I be able to skip this step? Nothing appears to have been damaged. I do not know where the broken tab went, nor do I know how exactly the sear spring tab broke. I was adamantly warned by the previous owner not to drop the slide on an empty cylinder or the trigger job would be damaged. I think this may have happened but do not know, nor care at this point. Any other tips will be appreciated. Thank you, Chad
  8. This is a little off topic but will help others using the search feature later. I am able to make 169 pf using 4.7 grains of titegroup behind a 170 grain lead cast bullet at 1.185 long in a 5" Scheuermann barrel.
  9. I just hit the mag release with my trigger finger on both 1911s and 2011s. Never really thought of it as a big deal.
  10. I have shot a two different Q5s and could not see anything special about them. A stock trigger is only a starting point. I was basically married to my M&P for the better part of a decade. I only added a comp spring kit and did my own polish. I am sure the Q5 can be improved but the ones I shot were not what I would be happy with but no Tupperware gun really is. I am sure all offerings will work. I have recently moved on to an SVI and have no interest in going back. I will be passing the M&P on to my daughter for a season or two I believe, then she can make her own choices.
  11. I have been shooting IDPA for a few years and have constantly struggled, shooting below my abilities, at majors. I let every little questionable call, dropped shot, etc. bother me. Yesterday I shot my first USPSA major and had a fairly good match. I just wanted to enjoy the match and have fun. Honestly could have done better on a few of the stages. I did not carry over the mistakes to the next stage. I stayed happy and loose and it really helped. I just wanted to share this for anyone who also struggles letting expectations not met drag down an otherwise good match.
  12. I'm away from a rule book for the night. I'd just call your sponsor. If they know what their doing they will keep you legal. By the way it looks good and better yet it looks like you can get a good grip
  13. I would be more concerned with the reduction of the frame in the grip area. What made you choose a Glock over a gun that would have fit you better anyways?
  14. I would be surprised if your frame modification is legal as well.
  15. I had to check the rule book but it does state the magazine release may not be oversized in diameter. Page 26 of the 2017 rule book, 8.1.7 D Surprisingly, to me at least, your front cocking serrations and stipling are legal.
  16. I am not trying to kill any division rather restructure in a manner that makes sense. I would actually like to see the divisions revert back to open and standard but that would never fly now that we have gone so many years with the additional options. Yes, the tanfo and cz's would be harmed by my proposal but somebody has to lose in order to consolidate divisions. From a pure competitive sense I feel this is an equitable way of dividing the current popular guns into new divisions. Another option would be to lump all of the limited capacity divisions together and allow some type of capacity advantage for minor just as SS currently does. Creating specific divisions for minor was a mistake in my opinion. This all may be easy for me to say though. I currently shoot limited which my plan did not effect. Before this I shot production with a plastic gun and never felt that I was disadvantaged in doing so. I only changed divisions to shoot against the best shooter in the area.
  17. My idea to cut back on a few of the redundant divisions: Open: Same rules as we have today. Carry optics will move here. Limited: Same rules we have today L10: Same rules we have today but the changes to the other divisions will add all SS and metal framed production guns. Production: Plastic framed guns, mod what you want. 10 round limit. Rev: Same as today. PCC: Same as today. Personally I would get rid of shooting rifles in a pistol competition. I would like to production disappear as well but it may be a good idea to have a starter division.
  18. I mostly agree with this. I know I could completely be happy with this. The only improvement I can suggest is get rid of major and minor sub divisions and have everyone run together. The game is getting to be too diluted the way it is.
  19. Currently STI is clearancing out their old style mags 3/$150.
  20. If your left handed it's a no brainer, the M&P. I would shy away from the Walther but only since it's new and not fully aftermarket supported. The best option is to handle all three and go with the one you feel fits the best. Trigger can be modified. Accuracy can be tuned with load, if not drop in barrels can help. Feel is what it is.
  21. Sounds to me as though you have plenty of case bell. Assuming your "shavings" are only the coating I would not worry about it one bit if your barrel remains lead free.
  22. I have always shot SSP in IDPA and production in USPSA, occasionally shooting my 1911 in both. Recently I picked up a 2011 and switched to limited. I like to shoot about twice a month, actually I would like to shoot more but life gets in the way. I may have shot IDPA 2 or 3 times this summer since I prefer USPSA more but with summer matches in WI winding down I am beginning to schedule weekend off season matches and that will include IDPA. I cannot justify buying a bushing 2011 for 10 IDPA matches a year. I am thinking I should just shoot my 1911 or actually my carry gun. What are the other limited guys shooting while dabbling in IDPA?
  23. I have only seen a revolver a few times shooting a uspsa match locally. Both of those guys have moved onto limited. I just looked at the match breakdown for the WI sectional and there is exactly one guy shooting revolver. Revolver appears dead in WI.
  24. Any chance you'll share what you went with and your load data? Just collecting info.
  25. I have never seen these before but they look like the DAA ones I use. For the price I would give them a try. The reviews seem good. I would not be surprised if they were both made at the same facility, only speculation.
