  1. When I ordered three months ago on the safariland site I did not see the option for els. I ordered 771 and 773 mag pouches and had to choose by belt widths. 1.5, 1.75 etc. Like the other poster stated, try midway if you want the els option. Dvor.com had them on sale. Randy
  2. I am a lefty also. The rep told me that the recommended setup on the sheet was 771 first and then 773s. Reason being is the first reload could be pulled up out of the pouch faster and the remaining would be secure for running. It kinda made sense. It looks like Leatham uses the 773s. They say the 771 has an open front so you can put your finger on the mag. Some say the opening makes them less secure. You can stack the 771s tighter together if you run them straight up and down with no canting. I have not practiced with them yet.
  3. I just purchased but have not used mine. I bought a 771 for the first reload, then 2 773's for the next. We will see how that works. This was based off a printout that a safariland rep gave me that shows different setups for different divisions/games.
  4. Ok, to clarify, one of the following has to apply and their picture has to be in Front Sight magazine multiple times. -They get paid a salary by the company -They are a top shooter and work for a gun company -They are in the top 5 consistently at major matches -They have won major matches multiple times -The company sends them to matches -Novices think they are a full time pro shooter ie. Max, Julie, Travis, Jesse, Jerry, Ben, etc.
  5. Have any of the top shooters changed companies/sponsors for 2015?
  6. Wondering when the weather will let me get out and shoot

  7. Most of the top shooters who shoot right handed flip the gun to hit the mag release. It is not an issue for Rob Leatham and other top shooters. That being said, I am a left handed shooter and on my 1911 guns I use two mag release buttons that are for the right side. Smith and alexander, which is an ambi. I use this on my 1911 single stacks. Mitchell custom, which I use on my 2011 guns. www.bulletworks.com Randy
  8. Where do you live in PA? You will love this forum! Welcome!
  9. I have a 20 inch barrel on a bushmaster that i had turned down and threaded for a comp. Still shoots great! go ahead and do it.
  10. Wha t would be the best finish for my STI tactical witH Aluminum frame if I can't Hard CHrome the frame?
  11. Phoenix area florida georgia colorado those are the top 4 best.
  12. I was shooting a CZ 75 SP01 using berrys plated bullets. The bullets were tumbling, a guy told me to put less crimp on them. I put less crimp on the new batch and they stopped tumbling. Crimp can effect accuracy. Not sure what my crimp measurement is now. Randy
  13. I have a Safariland 5198 holster for my 1911. I am using it for SS division and mounting it on a USPSA Kit. The holster is super tight and the tension adjustment screw does not loosen it up enough. Has anyone used heat to reform it and loosen it up? The area near the trigger guard is making it tight as well as the whole holster. Thanks, Randy
  14. FYI I am sure you already know this, but there are different tubes and tube ends for large and small size primers. Also make sure you have them matched up correctly.
  15. Welcome to the forum! You will now have all the information you need to sucessfully be a USPSA Grandmaster (mentally). I also live in CO, in Eagle and shoot on the front range. ecouspsa.com for the schedule. I have a S&W M&P 9 pro. I had a trigger job done on it by Steve Moore who is a USPSA grandmaster shooter and gunsmith out of Littleton. You can also drop in the APEX kit. My M&P runs great and is a good gun for production class. I also have a tungsten guide rod and 13 pound flat recoil spring in it. I put grip tape on it also. A lot of shooters use this gun for production class as well as a few for limited. The extra mags are reasonable and the holsters are easy to find. bladetech DOH for me. I have a CZ 75 SP01 also, like it a little better since it is heavier and steel.
  16. They are pretty much Rock n Roll. I bought a SSC 40 and then a PM9. They are tight and accurate. Also come with good parts. Better than my Kimbers, but anyone on this forum knows that. I like them more than my trojan 40.
  17. What is the model number of the pouches?
  18. taking my winter break

  19. I am originally from the Scranton area but now live in Colorado. Glad to see some more shooters in NEPA! I come back about once a year to visit and would like to find a big match to shoot, worthy of paying the airlines extra to bring my gun gear, but that hasn't happened yet. Maybe I will look more closely at Topton. Sounds like you are getting your equipment dialed in. BTW, I think PA is the only state where people use the initials of the state to say what state they are from. Just like they like to shorten peoples names in that neck of the woods.
  20. Great idea! I ended up shooting trap when I was just off crutches last year, but action pistol is definitely more fun.
  21. So if you put in an empty mag and grab the bottom that is sticking out of the gun, and pull it back, it should cause the same issue. If it does, the front of the mag is touching the trigger bow and/or the back is touching something. If the overtravel screw is screwed in too far, it would push the trigger bow into the magazine well. When the mag is pushed forward, it would cause the trigger bow to have to push on the magazine back, to push it back until the trigger can release the hammer. Your issue would be with the grip not allowing the trigger to reset forward enough in the grip. Look at the grip and also the trigger bow and also the trigger itself. This was just a rehash of what I read in the previous posts, trying to make it simple. Randy
