  1. I have worked at several other types of competitions, and there are separate companies who will bring all the necessary equipment for whatever event is going on. The two I have been to were inline racing, and a gymnastics meet. I don't see why something like that wouldn't work out. I think the USPSA could make some money on the side. I am sure people who make steel targets, or target stands would love to be the official USPSA steel provider. I don't know if there is a lot of money left over after running a big match. Could they afford to pay a couple grand for leased equipment?
  2. I would go to a couple of USPSA matches and see what some of the other shooters have on their Glocks. I think your sight choices are perfect. I would look at the Grams or Arredondo base pads. For a mag well I would look at the new magwell that Tom Novak is selling.
  3. Sorry if I am really ignorant, but could you talk a little bit about how you made you magwell and what type of material you used?? My next gun that I am planning on purchasing is going to be a XD40 Tactical with all the extra bells and whistles. I am probably going to drop some cash and buy the barsto magwell and basepads. I am going to shoot Lim10 and skip Limited. I am shooting in the Production division at the moment so I am used to doing reloads. My XD40 is going to be a great Lim10 gun when I am done with it.
  4. I think you could get a nicely tuned XD for around $1000. That is how much I have into mine after sending it to Canyon Creek. I am moving up. I have the scores to hit C, and in another month should be close to going B in production.
  5. JayC my buddy Aaron and I drove down to the IA Sectional to shoot Prod. If I remember correctly there were a total of 8 prod shooters in the match. You really should come up to MN some time. Most of our matches we have a leat 12 prod shooters and I have seen as many as 20 at the larger matches. The MN section is going to be a great match with probably 20+ production shooters. Check out www.mnuspsa.org for more information. Here in MN we have a good amount of Prod shooters, but I know that isn't true everywhere.
  6. I think that would be a hell of a fun stage. I am shooting prod so I would have to get a little creative with my mags, but I am sure I could figure it out.
  7. I have been shooting really great lately so I am hoping that I can win one of the section matches and win a slot that way. Thanks for all the great replies.
  8. That targets looks like a lot fun. I have seen some of those online they cost around $125.
  9. I was classified D last year and turned in a 87%. Everyone I was shooting with was commenting how good I did. I was really bummed the next month when I saw that my 87% got thrown out for being too high. Just remember that they will throw out the scores that are lower then your class too.
  10. I am a C level Production shooter who wants to go to Nationals next year. I understand that I could get a slot by signing up for the online waiting list, but I want to know how could I earn a slot. I am participating in the MN Point Series and I will be attending the MN, and WI section matches. Can you win a slot to Nationals by going to a section match or do you have to go to one of the Area matches?? Thanks
  11. I have been shooting now for just a little over a year. I couldn't agree with your post more! One of the things that has really helped me out is my good shooting buddy Aaron. We almost always go to the range together and being able compete against each other in our practice sessions make practice challenging and fun. We pooled our resources and bought a gun and belt so that we can bring people to our practice sessions and some of the local club matches. My goal is to get 3 people per year out to the range for some run and gun indoctorination. The only other thing I can add to what you said is for the really new people. TAKE IT SLOW get your hits the speed will come with time.
  12. We have had a ton of rain lately. I finaly plunked down the cash to go get some good baseball cleats. They have mad me feel much more sure footed. I didn't think I would notice a big differnce, but it was like night and day on wet grass. I found some cheap cleats for $27, it was worth every penny.
  13. Hell shoot whatever division you want. I shot on Dan Carden's squad at the IA Section match. Dan shot the El Prez faster then I did, and I am shooting a tricked out XD!!! I guess I won't be giving the revolver guys any more crap after that stage.
  14. It seems to me that the major offense here was him drawing his gun without the LAMR command. I know an open shooter who was DQed at nationals for the same thing. I have seen several people DQed, and I am sure they will never make the same mistake again. It seem to me that one of the best ways to learn is through a stiff penalty, and that is what a DQ is.
  15. I usually walk by all of the targets and then walk through the stage and look through all the ports. I really like to look at the course description to get a god idea how many targets are out there.
  16. I couldn't agree more, waiting for results is like nails on a chalkboard!!
  17. A Vanek trigger job will change your shooting forever!! It was worth every single penny that I spent.
  18. Use anything you want it isn't a big deal. 99.9% the bullet will splatter into nothing.

    Improving A Vanek

I have a G24 with a Vanek trigger I would never attempt to change anything. It is the by far one of the best triggers I have ever felt.
  20. I have a Tivo type unit from my cable company. IT is by far the best money I have ever spent bar none. If you enjoy watching television then you owe it to yourself to purchase a Tivo unit. I actually watch less television now that I can fast forward all the comercials. If you have DirectTV then I would get one of the recievers with the Tivo unit built in.
  21. Vin Deisel really made the first XXX so I was planning on skipping this one, but now I will avoid catching it even when it is one HBO.
  22. I got my Xd from Rich a couple of months ago. That is one nice shooting Production gun!!
  23. I have a CED 8000. While it is a kind of a new design I really like having a screen as big as it is. Most of the other timers have small screens plus they don't have quite the shot memory as the 8000.
  24. I just bought some 15 round mags right from Springfield. I got my mags and shirt in less then a week.
  25. I will be there shooting my SA XD in the production division.
