  1. It sounds like this is a step in the right direction. Good for the Army.
  2. Since you are a little concerned about your gun safe I would look into purchasing some additional protection. These guys offer some great protection for the money. http://www.stopthecrime.com/products.htm
  3. The one advantage with the P89 is you will never have to worry about it not working properly. Every Ruger I have owned has run like tank. Someday I am thinking of breaking out my P89 and shooting some production with it. The problem I have with it is the long double action first shot. I know there are people that have over come triggers like that, but I know it takes a lot of practice.
  4. I looked at some of the facilities they have it looks like a wonderful range. I can't believe they built this in IL.
  5. I will reload after 8-6 shots. Like Jax said if you are moving and have nothing to shoot at you might as well reload. I know exactly what you mean about forgetting to reload it happens to me. Now I practice my reloads at home so much I can do them all most with out thinking that has really helped. I have had a few times where I will throw a reload in when I only have like 2 steel at the end of stage and I had plenty of round to cover those targets.
  6. I have a comptac with Uncle Mikes double mag pouches. Next year I am planning on going to the Bladetech DOH and speedcomp pouches for my Lim 10 rig and my Prod rig.
  7. I think that is awesome!!! They have an awfule lot of hogs in parts of TX I would shoot them any way I could.
  8. This year I have been shooting Lim 10 at my local weekly league with a major load, and have been shooting Production on the weekends with my minor load. I have to conciously slow down otherwise I start throwing all sorts of Charlie hits. My guns are both XDs so the only real difference is my holsters and what kind of hits I feel comfortable with.
  9. I think think the easiest is to just shoot the whole thing from left to right. It minimizes the trasition times and is pretty foolproof. The only trick part is to only shoot the steel one, I kept wanting to shoot the poppers twice. I shot it today in 4.05 down 2 points with my Production gun. The Ohio calculator guessed that should be right about 73%
  10. I am not trying to sell anyone on this technique I was mostly just curious to know if it is legal. I am planning on trying 20 of them at the range so that I can figure out what kind of average time savings I will see.
  11. I was pretty sure I wasn't the first to think of it. I am going to practice it and possibly use it in a classifier some day. It really is easier then it looks the key is going to be how well I can manage the recoil with that mag between my fingers.
  12. New Walker Reload I am probably not the first person to think of this, but I was trying to come up with a way to get the magazine closer to the mouth of the magwell, but still follow the rule that everything needs to be on your belt when the buzzer goes off. Now I am not saying this saves a lot of time, but it certainly does save some for the simple fact that your arm doesn't have as far to go and the gun can stay more on target. I was able to do reloads shot to shot in about 8/10 of second where the fastest reload I have ever managed in real match was 1.35. I would only use this for classifiers or other stages where a standing reload would be required. I have only done this in dryfire so under recoil it might not work. Take a look at the videos and let me know what think. http://www.ranch.bz/lj/videos/MVI_0249.AVI http://www.ranch.bz/lj/videos/MVI_0251.AVI If you area having trouble getting the videos to work right click on the link and select "save target as"
  13. That is kind of what I thought too. It seem like once the buzzer sounds it would be ok to do.
  14. I am wondering if it is legal to hold a magazine in your hand after the buzzer has sounded provided you draw it from your magazine holders and hold it with your weak hand? If it is not kosher please enlighten me to the correct rule forbiding I can't seem to find any at all. Thanks
  15. At our local match we have to stop shooting at sundown. If we have more then 40 shooters show up we pretty much have to shoot as we go or we will not finish in time. If you like to see your targets I am sure it would be acceptable to mention to the RO that you would like to see your targets as the score are called off.
  16. When practicing my draw times I will usually use a target at about 10 yards. I will start out with a few draws to see what my baseline is in your case 1.5 then will start to really speed thing up to a point where I am lucky to hit the target. After doing a few of those I will bring it back a notch and keep working on A or c hit in an acceptable time. I am a C shooter and can usually draw and fire in the 1.3 range at matches. My goal is to be close to a second on my draws and reloads.
  17. I am interested to read a range report if anyone had a chance to use it this weekend.
  18. You will probably all know where this is going. A couple weeks ago I was on my knees working on Pepper Popper when I felt a huge bang on the top of my head. I hit the ground and blacked out for while!! When I came to my best budd Aaron was looking over me asking me if I knew my name. I thought about it a while and replied "Norm" which is the correct name. I took a few ibprofen and shot the match just fine in fact it was one of my better performances. The next day about 20 hours after I had the steel connect with my head I started feeling really crappy. Luckily I started feeling better after we went to the bar.
  19. I am suprised at how many CZ votes there were. I see more Glocks then anything else, but the XDs are really starting to catch up.
  20. I am kind of a digital camera fanatic. I have purchased 4 of them in the last 4 years. I bought two Sonys and two Canons. I have to say that my favorite so far is my little Canon SD450. I bought it for my wife to keep in her purse, and to also have a small handy cam to take to matches with me. It excels at both of these tasks. There are right around $235, but you will most likely pay around $299 at your local camera shop. My buddy keeps buying Olympus cameras, but then he always complains about how many batteries they go through!! 21. I might give that a try. I thought we had quite a few international members here.
  22. My brother got a big scholarship and is planning to go to school in Egypt for the 2007 school year. Since he will be gone for a whole year we are planning on visiting him in Egypt. Anytime I travel I start looking around to see what types of matches I can shoot where I will be visiting. It looks like the closest IPSC region is Israel, but I have had no luck finding any local matches there. It doesn't sound like importing a gun into Egypt is going to be an easy thing to do so I will probably try to borrow a gun from someone who will be attending the match. Does anyone know of any links to local Israeli matches?? I did find a link to some tours that Saul Kirsch put together in 2005, but that was the only web presence that the Israel IPSC region seems to have.
  23. Shooting is a ton fun, but when I am no longer able to shoot competitively then I think I will hang up my gun. We shoot with some folks that take on average 100 seconds to finish a stage they get all As, but 100 secs is a really long time.
  24. Sounds like Glock was not willing to pony up the dough to keep you. That is always a good problem to have!! I think it will be interesting to see if the M&P will start to see more competition time.
