  1. HE IS NOW!!! We had a small short shooters meeting Sunday morning, everyone headed to their stages, and the match ran (for our squad) right thru the day without a hicup. Of course there were a few little questions that popped up, but I'm sure Mr. J will remember each one, and avoid any recurrences in future matches. I'm looking forward to more matches that I can AIM at.
  2. this is the pool, that the raft is floating in, that we have to shoot the stage from???????
  3. I see shooters practically throw their guns in the abandonment barrels. It's kind of amazing to see them try to pick up that 1 second of stage time - that it would take to get the gun in the barrel without actually throwing it. My thoughts are that 1 second (or even 2!) is worth it to not break something, to not have it bounce out and DQ, to not knock the zero off enough to cost an extra 10 rounds (10-15 seconds) on the long range stage, to not have the gun hit the bottom hard enough to knock the safety off and DQ, to not break something that is going to take 40 hours at work to earn enough money to replace what broke (after taxes). Unless they have a handler that just gives them a new one.
  4. 4" target at 100 yards is 4moa 8" @ 100 is 8moa, @200 is 4moa (and is a tough target), at 300 is 2moa (whew!) 10" @ 200 is 5moa, @ 300 is 3.3moa (sorta the standard tough target?) 10" @ 350 is 2.8moa (bonus type target) So I'm thinking 4" at 100 is like a 10" at 250'ish, with no wind drift, and little to no bullet drop. With just the top 50, + 14 retired guys that have the time to shoot the matches, a 4" steel should be a bit of a challenge, but fun for everyone. but that's just me and a cheap walmart calculater
  5. Talking about last year, does anyone know of a match that had shooters on a "wait list", that did NOT get to shoot the match? Is it possible that there were no matches that turned away shooters? If that happens to be true, then all this "fuss" is for nothing.
  6. I must say, that is OUTSTANDINGLY EXCELLENT!!
  7. these make a great monopod, but the bottom is fairly open to sand and whatever. I looked on Arrendondo's page to see if he was making a bottom pad, didn't see it, emailed to see if it would be in the future, and got this reply: http://www.arredondoaccessories.com/category.cfm?cid=1004,2009&PID=la07o5653lfchu&gid=
  8. http://www.slimstacticalguns.com Surefire-60 $85. Plain p-mags 11.15. I'll take a small bottle of Kahlua. Remember, on these cheaper items, you can get reamed on shipping, so do all the math.
  9. What's with losing .35? After you test the bullet, just load it in for CQB (10yd) practice....
  10. Just for informational purposes, David Tapp's Tactical Rifle matches in Birmingham (the most fun match you can shoot with a rifle) doesn't allow 1x in HM. They do have a HM Optical division. It's interesting how this is turning out. For the last couple of years, some of us have been looking specifically for matches that don't allow 1x, and some for matches that do allow 1x.
  11. I don't shoot He-Man! RM3G and He-Man NAtionals do not! We did an informal survey last year, and changed Limited Iron to 1X, but since we have He-Man Scope, most of our He-Man Iron guys are more hard core and wanted to leave He-Man Iron, Iron's only. I BELIEVE USPSA and Superstition do allow 1X in He-Man no-scope! But, if you just look on the website of the match you're going to, they usually tell you! That's all I've got, Denise Last time I checked, USPSA doesn't allow 1x in HM.
  12. If I'm not mistaking, this timer procudure is/was/has been instituted to avoid random draw. In effect, every year there has been problems, and it's actually been a random entry after you factor in the error messages screwing with everyone. And then there are shooters gaming the system, multiple entries, friends entering friends, multiple pages being entered, multiple computers being used, and on and on. SINCE IT WINDS UP BEING RANDOM ANYWAY...... You send in your entry with the fee. I'm pretty sure that will limit it to 1 entry per shooter. Everyone has to be entered into the match database anyway, so as the entries arrive they get entered into the database. Have a cutoff date, allow 10 days for entries to straggle in. Do online entries with credit cards. At some set date do a live online random draw. Have the NRA Pres do the draw, or my wife, or your girlfriend, or anybody's grandmother. Pull the shooters for the match, and then do the standby list. Everyone has to add $5 for the NRA-ILA. And then put everyone that's in the match into online squading. Benefits: you can liesurely build the match database over the 30 days of entry time and you don't have to match up entry codes with applications a second time, it all gets done at the beginning - probably like the other matches. And with the growing amount of big matches, and the fact that we can't all shoot all the matches, there is a chance there would only be enough entries that you wouldn't have to do the drawing - everyone that enters is in the match, which would totally avoid all this hassle. If we're going to do random anyway, let's have some fun with it. IMHO
  13. Larry, you are MUCH smarter than the average bear.
  14. If it's time only, then there are no points. If there are no points, then major/minor is out the window. I guess they could chrono everyone to ensure no one is sub-minor, but the steel will usually take care of that question.
  15. 9.1.1 Any 3GN reactive paper target designated as a "shoot" target must have either one (1) ”Center” hit in the 8” Red circle OR have (2) hits anywhere inside the 17.25” Black scoring circle to avoid penalty. excuse me, what the hell is a red circle target? obviously, I've missed something in my 3gn training?
  16. Alrighty!! I get to hi-jack a thread........ how heavy is heavy, and of course, how light is light? I've looked at these thingy's, but never held an unmounted one. Everyone would love to have a bi-pod? these things are a lot less material than a bi-pod.
  17. 40 bucks and Round count will be estimated on 120 bird and 28 slugs. Exact # will be posted later on. I was hoping for a few more slugs, but ya gotta take whatever you can get.........
  18. http://wacactionshooting.com/ These guys put on a great match, and the range is totally amazing.
  19. I'm telling you guys, if you don't limit them saiga shooters, they will run it into the ground........oops, I meant ON THE GROUND!
