  1. FYI, if you are just puting CZC in whatever lettering on something then no big deal. If you are putting CZC lettering on it AND in the font that they market and have trademarked then it is infringement. (assuming they have it trademarked) Basically, you are asking the shop to make something look like it was produced and sold by someone else.
  2. Just a stock SP-01. If Christmas wasn't approaching I'd have the work done as I think it would add something like $300 to the tag. I'll probably wind up sending it to them at some point to have the work done though. I've seen the company name floated around here before, so I'm assuming it is one of the go to places for CZ work. (This place, CGW, and CZ Custom)
  3. Well I got lucky today and won myself a gun broker auction on a new SP-01 from Automatic Accuracy. Not sure how long it will take to get to me once all the paperwork is done but I'm looking forward to using it.
  4. There are two Shadows, the 75 Shadow (no light rail) and the SP-01 Shadow (light rail). The CZC Shadow Target and Accu Shadow are modified SP-01 Shadows. OK thanks. The sites are blocked where I am and could not verify. Perhaps the regular shadow frame is made into the tactical sports?
  5. Huh?The Performance Center is part of S&W...same company and location. CZ Customs is not part of CZ-US. They're different companies. That's a bit more than semantics... CZ Custom's products are SKUs/catalog items of CZ USA. S&W Performance Center's products are SKUs/catalog items of SMith & Wesson.Where's the difference again? I thought I just explained that?CZ Customs is not the same company as CZ-USA. The Performance Center IS a part of S&W. I know this was from the first page, but it still does not make any sense at all. What should matter is that CZ made the gun. CZ is selling the gun. CZ has the item listed in the catalog along with a part number. CZ sells the pistol through their distribtors. The fact that they are partnered with a shop that does work for them should mean nothing. What you are trying to say is that no company should be able to farm out parts of their operation due to another company having expertise in the fittment and installation of the components you wish to have on your product. ie, I build a gun but have the shop down the street do all sight work on my model A because they do better work than I can do in house. Under your assumptions, I really didn't make the gun. Likewise, under these assumptions, Apple doesn't make an iPhone. Now this would be different for example if Cajun Gun Works was selling their version of a Shadow with a bushing. In that case, there is no CZ part number, it isn't in the catalog, no CZ warranty, and the product is not for sale through CZ or it's line of distributors.
  6. The SP-01 shadow is a SP-01 that has the Shadow marked slide (and no firing pin block IIRC) and been gone though by the CZ Custom shop already and has all the work done. This is why you will see it at $1200+ From what I understand, the frame is the same as the $670 SP-01 but the slide is different, plus all the custom shop work. The regular shadow is a gun that was supposedly discontinued by CZ but the custom shop still sells them. It does not have the rail like the SP-01 has and does not have all the work done to it. It has the shadow slide and no firing pin block. It has a diferent hammer and an 85 trigger. Since the custom shop technically doesn't manufacture guns, I can only assume that CZ still makes the shadow but passes them to the custom shop for work so that CZ can then sell them as shadow targets and accu shadows, or whatever other model they use that combination for. The shadow comes with 16 round magazines and the stock SP-01 comes with the 19 round IIRC. Either one can be had with 10 round mags substituted for icky state laws. I've been going round and round in my head for the last few weeks on whether I wanted a base Shadow or the SP-01 base. The difference to me is about $200, but one has more weight at the front than the other. Right now I'll probably just get the standard SP-01 and do the work on it myself. If I want the higher end Shadow model then I'll just buy another one like a Tactical Sport.
  7. No, it is a local gun shop that has four stores in NE Ohio. I have posted similar pics in this thread. If you are looking for some tite group the Ashland store has 4 and 8 pound containers. They have a ton of Alliant powders and had a few 700x and 800x pound sizes. I was told they get hodgdon and imr powders about once a month so I'm going to check a few times a week with them.
  8. Just wanted to say that I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sure he would be glad that it is going to be getting some use.
  9. One thing I wish they would do is come up with a better bag for their bullets. My first order was the 250 round sample pack. While they tape the heck out of the box and wrap them in a tyvec envelope, as soon as I picked up the bag, it split open in about 3 places and I was picking up bullets from the floor. the order I got today was a 500 count SFRB and once again, I opened up the tyvec envelope, pulled out one of the packs and bullets falling all over. 2 splits along the seams this time. I didn't even bother taking the other pack out of the envelope as I'll do it over the blue bin at home later. <edit> thought I would see about the other pack in the box and as soon as I picked it up, the end busted open and half a bag dumped.
  10. This was my local place yesterday. They had already sold out ofthe 8# jugs of BE and Unique. It is staying on the shelves longer, and coming back in sooner though. Now if only i could find some HP38 or 231 there I'd be good to go. 20141105_172924 by mikeinctown, on Flickr 20141105_172913 by mikeinctown, on Flickr
  11. Just my .02 worth of brass... Just started reloading a month back. For the 4-5 months before, I was buying brass as I saw a good deal pop up. So right now I think I have 3,000 9mm cases sitting there, and 5-6,000 .40 cases sitting there that I don't even have dies for. I got the stuff because it averaged out to .02/case shipped. My .45 I buy at the local shows because there is a guy willing to sell me for .04/case cash AND it has already been tumbled. At those prices, there isn't going to be much money in cases unless you can either offer great prices or a little incentive to purchase. heck, I keep seeing a guy on Armslist selling 9 and .40 for $20/1000. the only thing that seems to have any value in handgun calibers any more is .380 auto and .45. Also, a lot of ranges sot the brass themselves and make some extra money at it, so you may not even be able to get your foot in the door at some of the places in your area. I don't think now is the time to get into the business. There is lots to go around, and with ammo prices dropping, the brass price needs to drop considerably more in order to make it worthwhile for people to load themselves. When you can get 9mm from Freedom for less than $10 a box shipped to your door depending on the deal of the week, there isn't much incentive for many people to buy components that would price out to $9 a box. You are probably 2 years late getting in. Good luck in your venture though if you decide to keep going for it.

    Which Sp01?

Will either SP-01 work with the modifications? My local place has both the tactical and safety model in stock, but I usually see the tactical model with decocker go for a bit less money. if they can both be modified in the same way with trigger jobs then I think I'd prefer the tactical as I am used to the DA/SA with decocker on my Sig models.
  13. I saw these at my local place yesterday and they looked amazing. I think at my local place they were about $679 or something similar but cannot remember for sure. Really making me think about my planned purchase of a CZ later this month.
  14. It shouldn't be too hard for adults to know what part of the rule book their local club might bend for them and to be able to ask if there are any areas in which the new club doesn't adhere strictly to guidlines. I've done this with other hobbies and was always given a straight answer. I knew then what I had to adjust, if anything, and I generally enjoyed the new experience and additional competition among new people.
  15. If you tumble them some before sorting they are easy to spot. My 11 year old helps me sort, so I don't think they are too difficult. The two most common brands for me are Federal and Blazer for SPP, but my last batch that I sorted I came up with one each of speer and one other brand.
  16. A few additional thoughts on PV selling out so quickly with certain powders: their prices are better than nearly everyone. their limits are high allowing larger purchases. they are mail order so people buy more to spread the hazmat fee over more pounds. they are very well known and followed. Gunbot gives PV results increasing visibility. PV posts updates on new shipments they receive on social media. Their shipping costs are very fair. Basically, once PV is able to keep a broad spectrum of powders in stock, the shortage will be officially over as they will be the last supplier to be able to keep powder in stock regularly. I agree 100%. I found Bullseye and Unique in stock at the Fin last week at $129 per 8# but did not buy. Powder Valley has the same stuff for $109 when it comes in, so even with shipping and haz fees, it is cheaper to buy 2 from them than it is to buy locally.
  17. LazinessLol. I'm a convert to one shot. Used some last Saturday and I won't stop now. Press cycles easier and the OAL is more consistent.
  18. I cannot remember where I read this, perhaps here. Anyway, certain powders burn far better depending on the pressure in the barrel. The specific example was Unique in that a light load will smoke more and you will find a lot of "crap" in the barrel but that when loaded to higher velocities and higher pressures then it burns more efficiently, with less smoke and leaves less residue. I do not know how true this may be, but as I have several pounds of Unique I plan on loading many different load samples even though I do not compete and want only a range load. Perhaps the same is true with the Clays?
  19. Just wanted to give an update since I was the one who started the thread. I found that I was almost always .005 on the + side while I had cases in every station but that when I was doing one round as a test that the variance was almost zero. My guess is that the sizing/decapping station and the force needed to size the case tilts the shellplate or platform ever so slightly. I believe I've been able to confirm my guesses as on my last loading session, the cases were lubricated slightly with One Shot lubricant. I did not give them a thick coating, but rather just quick sprays and then a mix in a bag. Not all sides were covered but I believe that they would have evened things out as they rotated through the die. In any event, the 650 operated much, much smoother and with far less effort than needed before the lubricant. After finishing the session and measuring the finished length, I found a variation of only .002-.003 in most cases. This leads me to conclude that the reduced force needed on one side of the platform affects the OAL to the positive in terms of reduced variation.
  20. Very nice. I know the feeling of seeing all those bullets after a short amount of time. Even when going slow, the 650 can do a round every 5 seconds or so, only needing to stop in order to load new primers, cases, or a pile of bullets in a tray.
  21. I was also woried about that as well because of some of the stories I have seen. I've watched a few videos of people using it and I realized that any issues are because they are using way more than needed. A little goes a long way and you don't need to coat the entire surface. One case may have lube on one side and the next case will have it on the other side. It evens itself out over time. It also does dry pretty quick as I barel tested each round when I was done loading and it didn't feel like I had anything on my fingers after. If anything, maybe it will help the cartridges slide a little easier in the magazine.
  22. Not going to ask what the funky residue was.
  23. That is the variation I got when I was loading my .45 without using case lube. The batch I just did Saturday evening had a little case lube in use and my variation went down to .002-.003. I used the One Shot with just a couple quick presses of the spray into a plastic bag for every 100 or so and then just mixed them in the sealed bag. Anyway, if you aren't using any case lube, give that a shot once and see if it helps ease you mind. I know it sure helps run the cases through smoother.
  24. Looking at getting the mini bullet feeder. I'm already using the blue bullets, and was wondering how they feed in the Mr bullet feed die?
  25. My fingers were dirtier from handling the tumbled brass than they were from touching the bullets. Maybe a little blue but it washes right off. I've also noticed the coating seems thicker than another type of coated bullet I got a sample of. I know I'll be ordering more when I go through all the sample packs I have.
