  1. That's funny. If you read the offer linked in the first post it says: "Offer valid only on NEW Smith & Wesson firearms purchased between February 1, 2006 and April 30, 2006." http://www.shootingusa.com/LATEST_UPDATES/.../gam_offer.html I might be just stupid enough to try it anyway.
  2. I'll have to request one of those since I just got a new Model 22. My first real revolver. It sure is nice, fun and shoots to POA too!
  3. The more I think about it, the more uncomfortable I feel about this world record largemouth from a likely man-made lake in So Cal. Isn't this about as natural as a movie star's boobs?
  4. Wow, that is news. Maybe it's finally happened. The old record for the Largemouth by Perry is as old as the hills (and some say it wasn't accurate). That guys cool for letting it go too. 'course those California folks have probably been doing something "fishy" for years like dumping growth hormone spiked Bass food in those lakes just to beat the southern Bassers for the record. Or somekind of devil's work, genetic (Bass) engineering. I wouldn't know I live in WA where our Bass usually are the size of stocked trout.
  5. Where allowed in some states, person to person or face to face gun sales can be done without the requirements of using an FFL holder. In such cases, it is wise to use a good bill of sale. I found this on another gunboard and it seems useful. I'm attaching it here under this title so it can be found with a keyword search. bill_of_sale.pdf
  6. For those of you who have asked for the neat "Bill of Sale" pdf file that I downloaded from another gunboard, here it is: bill_of_sale.pdf
  7. I have this: But It looks like the FTF is moot point now 'cause a guy in Afganistan (residence in FL) just bought it last night. Maybe another day I'll do an FTF. http://www.jobrelatedstuff.com/forums/topi...7&f=88&t=336291
  8. Just to reitterate, I stated that I would use a comprehensive "Bill of Sale". It looks like even this isn't required, but it will create a "paper trail of comfort" for myself, but I won't pay for a NICS check because it's unecessary, anti-freedom and seems like it would just encourage bureaucractic meddling.
  9. Because I've figured out clearly that it's not required in my state. Not to be smart-a$$ but why don't you take all of your toys down to your local PD and ATF office and ask them if they see anything they'd possibly like to confiscate? Or take all your past tax returns to the IRS? Answer: Because it's none of their business and it just encourages potenital abuse of dubious authority.
  10. I've sold several handguns (shipped to FFLs out of state) but I've never done an in-state, face to face sale. I've got a gun for sale now and it may go in-state this time. I'm in WA. What all do I need to do/know for an in-state FTF sale? I downloaded a very comprehensive "Bill of Sale" from one of these gunboards which looks like it would be great to use. Any other tips/advice would be great. Thanks.
  11. I've been shooting USPSA for a year now and I practice at a indoor range that's part of a gunshop near my home. It's very conveinient since it's close. They allow drawing from holster there (which is good), but since you shoot from partitioned "stalls", and I don't believe you're supposed to shoot across lanes, you cant move much or shoot more than one target. It's OK, I'm glad to have this place so close and that I can draw. But I've never seen any other IPSC type shooter there practicing. I'll have to ask the guys at the match this weekend where they practice. I assume the most people do practice? Where do you practice and what can you do there, i.e. move, shoot multiple targets, practice in groups, etc.? __________________

    Damn those were good!
  13. Hmmm. I have a 5-inch XD-9 with Dawson FOs with the adjustable FO rear and don't have this problem (no bottoming out of the rear). And I hate 6-o'clock holds.
  14. I have an XD-9 5-inch slide version that's been improved (trigger job, extended mag release, Dawson sights, Tru-grips) that I've used to shoot USPSA Production. I got it because I'd had the 4-inch slide version for some years and was used to it. I then bought a CZ-85 and found that I could shoot better with the CZ even with the DA first shot. The XD seems top heavy almost as if just the slide were resting on the top of my clenched fist. I don't have a steady hand, and with the seemingly top heavy XD the result apears to be that the gun is often "shaken" off POA, particularly since there's only at most 10 rounds of ballast in the grip and less as the gun emptys. The CZ appears to have a lower center of gravity which seems to make the difference for me. I've only tried a Glock (17) once for a bit, not quite enough to tell if it had a lower center of gravity than the XD or not. Although the Glock did point too high for me due to that obnoxious bump on the lower backstrap. I wonder if this is what the difference is for your friend? Perhaps you could ask him what he thinks about this.
  15. Yeah. That helps. I'll polish the flat of the center rail with my Dremel. I guess I want to break over the edge between the flat of the center rail and the breach face, with a small stone or fine sandpaper, right? And also the side edges of the center rail, or does that matter?
  16. I have this problem too (I often have to strip the mag out with weak hand in matches) and it's not the mag springs (I have new MecGars and installed the Wulff extra power spings in my CZ mags and still have problem). I have heard of the deburr/polish solution before but don't really know where to polish. Sure would be nice to see some pics. Regardless I will persevere in reading about this fix and studying my gun.
  17. I had a trigger job (and other work) done on my XD9 tactical by Rich at Canyon Creek and it took a matter of days. Hours almost. It's ridiculously fast. Which is good. I have XDs and have no problems with the finish (OK they've all been painted), the mags or even the parts (yet, I got some spares before the ban). I'd say it boils down to how it feels/shoots for you. I like the feel of a CZ75/85 over the XD and have been using one in lieu of the XD for the last five or so matches. The XD is a little top heavy and I get a shake (unsteadiness) with it when the mag is not full which detracts from aim. Also, I point the CZ better. I've never actually shot a Glock, although I respect them. I'll have to try one someday.

    Popups

'Cause you don't have a Mac. I get few pop-ups with my Mac and don't have to worry about viruses either. That's why I got it, 'cause I didn't want to have to learn about all the complicated ways of preventing them that you're seeing people tell you here. 'Course, I can't get games or software, but that's another story.
  19. My wife got a plastic tub of Miso soup concetrate a while back that seemed to work well. I love it too. She goes to small asian market stores a lot. Maybe she got it there.

    New Glock Colors?

I like the looks of them too but heard from people who got the finish that it comes off easily leaving a bad look as it chips and scratches away. It might be a shrunk decal.
  21. Angus Hobdell confirmed for me over on CZFORUMS.com that he drops the hammer all the way in USPSA Production. I also found the complete discussion of CZ hammer dropping that I had been looking for: http://p201.ezboard.com/fczechpistols82792...opicID=92.topic
  22. Can I drop the hammer of my CZ-85 to only half-cock or do I have to push it down all the way when "makeing ready" for Production? I know I have to drop the hammer for Production. I've competed once with it, and won , but now that I think about it I was likely only dropping the hammer to the half-cock position since it take a bit more effort to get it to go all the way down to full cock and I don't usually (ever) do that. I believe both positions are safe, so if it's OK by the rules, I'll just continue to drop it to the half-cock position since this is easier, feels safer to me, is what I'm used to, and is maybe a bit faster to shoot. On an up note, I was so confident and skilled at dropping the hammer on my CZ, that no one even balked at me doing it, although I was prepared to explain that it was necessary, safe and standard procedure with CZ-75/85s to a dubious RO.
  23. I'm interested in getting some spare pins too if they fit and someone is selling. I use the XD for USPSA and have no spare and have now heard of SAs refusal to sell any parts. Someone please share the source and details (e.g. fit) of a (non-SA) source for the pins when you can.

    Xd

I used my Canyon Creek modified XD-9 tactical to win production Div. at last months local match. The thing I don't like about the XD is that it's noticably top heavy, which gives a shake to my gun. I think I like my new CZ-85 better and will have it modified as a potential replacement (when I get some more $). People say the XD mags are somewhat flimsy, which I can believe but haven't noticed yet.
