  1. I have the Adjustable Dawson FOs on my XD tactical, but they work fine (not bottomed or topped out). Don't others besides Dawson make FO front sights? Couldn't you look at other manufacturers FO fronts to see if they have taller sights?
  2. I recently asked Lew Bonitz of Yost-Bonitz about putting a tritium bar (like Novak's uses) on my rear sights 's that they're finishing for me, and he said he didn't recommed the bar 'cause it's not made by Trijicon, and therefore wasn't built to standards that he preferred.
  3. I have the same holster (Sparks VM-II) in horsehide and one in cowhide. The Horsehide is much better IMO and I will now always get horsehide over cow every time. The horsehide holster is significantly stiffer. The cow holster (while still good) colapses some which mades re-holstering a little more difficult. It seems like a small thing, but is significant to me and would be worth the extra $ or time for the horsehide.
  4. I recently got a CZ-85 Combat specifically for Production following research and love it. I used it to win the third USPSA match I've ever competed in. I recommend the 85 Combat and also "The CZ Connection" as a source for these and other CZ pistols, based on my experience with price, availablity and service. http://pdmall.com/CZC/pistol~1.htm For smithing, I'm looking at Jim Miossi Gun Works LLC http://miossigunworks.com/on_line_catalog.html, using his hard sear along with other parts (sights, hammer) purchased from Angus Hobdel http://ghostholster.com/cz_home.htm
  5. Every newly developed gun claims to be jamless. Then they invent excuses.
  6. Hmmm. Yeah. Thanks for the ideas. I'm shooting production however I'm not "circumferentially challenged"...yet. I'll experiment with what I can find in my closet looking for longer (to stayed tucked deeper) and tighter shirts.
  7. What type of shirt is recommend for USPSA matches that won't untuck and interfere with my draw? I'll soon be shooting my second match. My first match was in March and it wa cool. I wore a wool shirt that was fairly long and it stayed tucked in very well. Since then when I practice drawing and shooting the shirts I wear (be they light button-up or T-shirt) tend to come "un-tucked" bunching above the holster and eventually interfering with my draw. What kind of shirt is recommended to prevent this?
  8. I got my XD-9 tactical back from Canyon Creek too just a while back and trigger is to die for. I had Dawson sights installed, the set with the rear that is adjustable and has fiber optic inserts. The sights seem to work good for my (now) older eyes to pick up. The most amazing thing is the speed at which Rich gets these things back to you. I'm not a Puerto Rican guy but I have a Costa Rican wife.
  9. PistolGear.com had (dual) Blade Tech pouches that I picked up and they delivered within one week. CompTac delivered a belt holster for me in one week. I held the Blade Tech and CompTac belt holsters side by side and they are both good with only insignificant difference between the two.
  10. So......when will it be approved for Production? So I can get one then.
  11. I recently decided to start in USPSA and got an XD-9 tactical (since I like and am used to an XD, and have a lot of mags) for Production. After studying things a bit, I got a Comp-Tac belt holster, Blade Tech dual mag pouches, and I use WWB ammo. I already had a 1.5" leather belt from Rafter S. All works real good in Production. A trigger job and fiber optic sights should give me an unfair advantage.
  12. I suppose you mean 15-rnd mags? 'Cause to me the "standard" mag is the 15 rd (as designed (before rediculous political meddling). Not that it matters 'cause I can't find either one. Although unbelievably I did get two (15 rounders at my local Sportsman's Warehouse. Check there for fun.
  13. Political turmoil is business as usual in South and Central America.
  14. Comp-Tac (kydex) holster are nice for the XD line, and they are fast. I have both the C-Tac (IWB) and the belt holster (OWB), and both are good. Blade Tech is as good or better (but turnaround time is not quite as fast). http://www.comp-tac.com/ http://www.blade-tech.com/frontend?command...iSectionId=4328 But for an IWB, Milt Sparks Versa Max II is the best: http://www.hs2000talk.com/viewtopic.php?t=20748&highlight=
  15. I'm still waiting for mine too. Ordered the set with the adjustable fiber optic rear for an XD before the end of March.
  16. The XD-9 Tactical model (longer 5" barrel, might best meet all these requirements (if the grip fits you) with an added tungsten guide rod (Canyon-Creek) and the reportedly very light and quick trigger from Canyon-Creek or Bar-Sto. The XD with a trigger job seems almost an unfair advantage against double actions in Production. I'll be putting a trigger job and better sights on mine soon. http://www.canyon-creek.com/xd.htm
  17. Could someone describe the scenario where ambidextrous controls are an advantage (over guns without) in USPSA. I have shot my first match (with my XD-9 5"), but didn't see where the ambi controls that seem to be popular on competition guns would come into play. I've wanted a CZ-75 for quite a few years to add to my collection, and I hear they work well in Production (in which I prefer to compete for now) but now I'm wondering about the CZ-85 model which has the ambi controls. I've always disliked the feel of ambi controls to the extent that I've had them removed from a carry gun. I'm right handed.
