  1. Very interesting results with the different ammo. Nice discussion topic.
  2. When do you expect to have the stages up. Also, is this the only official thread.
  3. I am also curious what some of the drawbacks to airsoft training. I have modified my airsoft to be identical to my actual IPSC gun. I can shoot at home any time of day, and day of the week. I think they are invaluable. In my opinion, they are a great tool.
  4. They look like something that I ordered on Ebay about 2 years ago. Mine just didn't have the tek-lok. +1 on the CR Speed.
  5. Maybe bad news. Per Brownells, they are only offering rebates on shipping this year. Sales over $150 get free gorund shipping code "GRF" Next day air is $4.95 "DA2" Overnight is $9.95 "EDN" I hope this is not the case. Bummer no 20% this year.
  6. The original grip safety is definatley not up to par. The shape is a little off for my hand, does not sit flush along the backstrap when fully depressed, and it does not bring my hand up as high as I like. Para only carries this part in a nickle finish and the current shape. The reason for refinishing was fitting a new grip safety, and I want to put front serrations on the slide.
  7. I purchased a Para PXT 1911 SSP, gun rights model, and have a few minor issues. I have discovered that the nickle finish on the slide stop, thumb safey, and grip safety are changing colors. This is a carry gun, and from contact with body oils changes the color on the nickle finish. Since I need to replace the grip and thumb safeties I am soliciting advice. What do the smiths recommend. I was thinking STI grip safety and a wide ambi thumb safety. After it is all said and done, I am sending it out to be refinished. The gun was a steal, is accurate (for government work) and it runs well. BTW - Talked to PARA about the finish, they won't warranty.
  8. I have been reloadign for just about a year, and have about 5K under my belt. The moly is easier to reload, less adjustments. Personally, I think they are easier on the barrel.
  9. Curious what you classified as.
  10. My stock STI ambi safety broke about 2 weekds ago. STI was more than happy to replace it. Contact them and I am sure they will send you another one, under warranty. Then you will definately have the right part.
  11. On the cleaning issue. I use BC molly bullets in a factory G17 barrel. The 50/50 solution works fine, but you have to discard the stuff somewhere. I recently tried the M-Pro 7 bore gel and it was great. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then wiped the barrel clean. It did not require a brush. I was very impressed.
  12. I just got the Chrony beta model.....I will let you know how it works.
  13. Front sight magazine answered this this exact question. Both options were good. There is a third option. back up keeping the gun down range, complete you business without re-holstering or breaking the 180. If the RO touches you they can be called for interference - therefore a reshoot. I am not implying that you intentionally bump the RO, but if it occurs what do you do then...re-shoot.
  14. is there a benefit to 771's when they are all the way aroudn your back? I would think that vertical and tight would be easier to retrieve.
  15. The sling is essential in a real world application of the rifle (i.e. malfunction requiring a transition; using less lethal options, and hands on); however, in the 3 gun world they are not practical. If you wear the sling then have to dump the gun to get another one, you have to get out of the sling and this in a non essential movement.
  16. They answered almost the same question on another post about 20 back. The answer contained a quote from the NROI book. quite informative if you can find it.
  17. With SSP and the new rules, who can keep up.....
  18. I have an Edge and a buddy has the BS40. We got them at the same time. The BS40 took a long time to breal in, btu there is no significant difference now. As for the Glock......Got plenty of them. I think I spent a lot of money to make the modifcations for it to be like and STI.
  19. You are not even competitive without a fiber optic sight. get it!!!!
  20. Other than the gun consider this also, each mag runs about $80-100. I will say, it will bump you up at least one classification within short order.
  21. My Edge runs great, with no mods. I got it from Dawson, and they did their thing to it. took forever to gew, but runs flawlessly. I have friends that did all kinds of stuff to their STI's and they are always down. In this case I believe, "less is more."
