  1. Sweet Military discount for a STI Trojan. Cheers
  2. 1967 step side Chevy pickup. It had been my Grandfathers farm truck, he had took a blow torch to wheel wells in the rear so he could put on wider tires so he could mount a sprayer in the back. Minnesota 1987. He gave it to me for my 16th birthday. I had to re-wire it to make it street legal, and with my limited electronics (at the time) I managed to get everything working, but when I hit my brakes, the front turn signals came on, it turned into my trademark entrance to the "bon-fire" This thing had built in ventilation, back then I was still "chewing" and I could spit at the floor and hit the highway. It was just plain wierd when I sraped enough dough to put in a digital FM/cassette radio in it. ______________________________________________________________________ The first car I actually bought was a 1969 Plymouth Satellite. Paid $110 at a farm auction, at one time this thing had been a dark blue, but the sun had faded the paint and the vinyl flower top to a light baby blue. It had a small decal that said "modtop" on it and that is what we called it. I drove it for a year before the 20 year old 318 gave it up. _______________________________________________________________________ I'm sure that both of these are in a tree line in Northern Minnesota slowly decomposing.
  3. "As my friend went hammer down on his glock and proceded to holster, his slide fell off and hit the dirt. He put the slideless frame in the holster and said, "Hey this doesn't count as me dropping my gun right?" Taken from another thread, but I want to know the answer. How does USPSA define a gun? the Feds classify the frame, so is he good to go?
  4. http://www.epsaddlery.com/c-11-concealment.aspx The add says "Available for most Semi-Automatics, Single Actions, and Double Actions." If anyone makes one, it would be these folks.
  5. Here's how to make your own magazine safety spacer washers to remove that pesky magazine disconnect safety from a Mark III pistol. Use common tools found in most home workshops for this modification. No lathes or mills were used to make these spacers. Tools: 1 pr large wire cutters (dike pliers) 1 fine bastard file 1 #2 Phillips head screwdriver 1 Meduim adjustable (Crescent) wrench 1 Drill press ( hand drill mounted carefully in a vise will work) 1 bench vise 1 Sharpie brand permanent marker Materials: 2 #10 SAE flat washers $.06 ea. from local hardware store 1 Stainless countersunk machine screw 1 machine nut with integral star lock washer Two SAE #10 flat washers will do the trick. You can use steel or stainless. http://www.guntalk-online.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=387

  7. I lost braincells reading though this.
  8. My favorite part of winter is right after a good snow. The snow covers all the ugly. You open your door in the morning and it is like everything in the world is good, clean, no imperfections except maybe a few animal tracks. The cold shocks your lungs and you know that you are alive.
  9. My old gun shop closed, his wife died and he just didn't feel like dealing with the BATF anymore. Fast forward today, I want to get a new trojan and I call the "other local shop" and ask what they are charging for a transer fee these days, $100 bucks ; I laughed and said I'll drive to the next town. That is crazy for just a few minutes of work. But crazy prices are why I stopped giving them my money in the first place.
  10. ++100 They are a great bunch.
  11. Buy used, find out what works for you and what doesn't, then get your dream gun.
  12. 18. You're dead meat if you can't get along with their pets, parents, and best friends. Be prince charming to their friends, Mr. Polite to their parents, and make sure to be nice to their animals. I have to raise the B.S. flag on this one, don't sugar coat it. You could be stuck with these people/animals for life. If you don't like them run away fast. If you can't stand her parents when you are dating, how will you feel when they live you and they need their depends changed?
  13. Shawn, I have been thinking that if you add a magwell to this one you would have the ultimate single stack/L10 pistol around. I really like the two-tone look.
  14. Clint, Basically, that report says she does NOT have a tumor recurrence. Great news, but still the nagging question---what is causing the headaches? Where are you located? Chris Alamogordo NM
  15. We picked up the radiologist report today, could anyone put this in lay terms for me?
  16. Not really banned, more like regulated. "Urinary test above 12mg/liter (8 cups of coffee) is perceived by the IOC as a deliberate attempt by an athlete to gain an advantage on the competition." Lot of good stuff on this site. http://www.vanderbilt.edu/AnS/psychology/h...eine_sports.htm
  17. Update time--I had the second surgery back in March, after which the Doc tells me he didn't really see anything new, so he just ruffed up the tendons again to get some bleeding to promote healing. I go though the rehad/therepy again. In May he tells me, well most people have excellent recovery, it looks like you may just be a "good". I last follow up with him in June and he tells me well you may just be a average recovery after all, go back to therapy and if you still have pain late July see your primary caregiver and get a new referral as I'm deploying for a year. I hear form him again in late June, he is almost in a panic. I need copies of your MRI's I'm up for my board certification and they picked your file for review. I told that I had given him copies of my MRI's at least twice, what happened to those? silence... I wind up getting them for him on the off chance it might help me get someone to fix my arm. no luck. Flash forward to beginning of August, I get my normal doc to refer me back out for my arm like the surgeon to me too. I get to the referral management section and they tell me if the Army hospital can't get me an appointment in less than 30 days they will let me see a CIVILIAN surgeon locally. The Army couldn't, thank God. I see the New Doc yesterday, he had all my films pulled (I still don't think the first guy ever looked at them). Carefully listened to me retell the past two years, including the part were all this started, low crawling around the New Mexico desert getting ready to deploy. (banged the hell out of the back of my elbow on a rock, I couldn't fully extend for a week) He feels around, has me point to were the pain is sharpest. Then explains that a lateral epicondylectomy should take care of my problems. basically the elbow bone has calcified were I banged it two years ago and the tendons are getting worn going back and forth over it. (like a rope around a sharp corner) He is going to file down/smooth the bone and clean up the tendons. My new surgeon is the bomb. Turns out he has had tennis elbow and the surgery. It is nice to have a Dr. that listens. Instead of having to wait 1-3 months to get the surgery, I having it done on 2 weeks. 11 Sep 09. Wish me luck. After being an Army brat and now in the USAF for 17 years, I can't believe that anyone thinks the government can do a better job with health care. Everyone I know is happy as heck when they get referred out of the military system for treatment.
  18. Prayers sent from the Brawley's, I hope that he gets well quickly.
  19. Thanks everyone, a big thank you to CSEMARTIN for the offer. The Doc today pretty much mirrored CSEMARTIN's opinion but ordered the MRI anyway. Hopefully she can get the MRI in the next week or two, depends on tri-care. Thanks again for all the prayers and well wishes. Clint
  20. My wife has been having some killer headaches; when meds didn't help her Dr. order a cat scan. On Friday my wife picked up the cat scan report to take with her to her Dr. apt set for Monday afternoon. the part that has us worried is ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPRESSION: Postoperative left occipital lobe with porencephaly in the left cerebellar hemisphere. On contrast images there is a suggestion of faint enhancement in the left cere bello pontine angle. Recurrent mass not excluded. Recommend further evaluation with MRI with gadolinium. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Basically is sounds like they may have found something and they think an MRI is in order. She had a brain tumor (not cancer) removed back in 93. Anyway, we see the Dr. tomorrow, but I'm willing to bet more money than I have that all he will do is order the MRI and refer her to a specialist. Actually I hope that he does refer her to a specialist, preferably to one that is a civilian.
  21. I was a recruiter for four years, I got chills every time I witnessed the swearing in (to many to count, most of the time it wasn't my recruit). There isn't much that I enjoy more than witnessing someone enlist/re-enlist. How often have you witnessed someone swear to God that they will die to protect you? I don't think it should be mandatory, but it should be a requirement for public office. I have 17 years of service, I will re-enlist in 4.
