  1. I can't wait either. Looks like a winner.
  2. Shoot when I lived up north in Minnesota, I don't think I turned off my truck from the time I got it started in the morning during the winter. You leave that puppy running, forget shutting it off for a five minute fill up. Of course that was back when fuel was a buck a gallon or less.
  3. The Mrs and I both just got a Samsung Galaxy S, this thing is smoking.

    Murdered Kids

http://www.fox10tv.com/dpp/news/mississippi/remains-believed-to-be-of-jonathan-deblase-found-in-mississippi They found the little boy today under a pile of sticks in a garbage bag. It looked like he was less than 30 yards off the highway and he was only 4.5 miles from my house. I happened upon the search scene this evening and there must have been 50 vehicles with lights flashing and they had the woods lit up like a movie set with the little yellow evidence tags everywhere. I hope they have enough evidence to fry this people. This one is really getting to me. How can a "dad" dump his 3-year son on the side of the road on fathers day? That some one capable of doing that passed within a mile of my house. That these babies went missing for up to six months and no one missed them, until the the stupid "stepmother" wanted a restraining order just baffles me. How can the grand parents and biological mother go that long without seeing these children? I'm not having much faith in my fellow man right now.
  5. http://www.fox10tv.com/dpp/news/local_news/mobile_county/search-planned-in-missing-children-case The boys body is likely within 10 miles of my house. I'll be contacting the Sheriff in the AM to offer help. I thought it was weird that an unmarked pickup had lights flashing, while only going a couple of MPH's in the ditch while I was on my way to deer hunt this afternoon. This just make me sick
  6. I shoot 180 gr bullets in my 40SW and 200 gr bullets in my 45; at roughly the same power factor and they "feel" the same to me. YMMV
  7. So hopefully within the next 2 months I will get my eyes fixed. I have been wearing glasses (thick glasses) for 34 years, I can't wait to be done with them.
  8. Stop it, with your freakish mind control.

    Another tequila?

Like the man said, "A hangover is your bodies way of telling you, that you should not have stopped drinking."

    lazy FFL's

Ok, I'm out looking for a new "primitive weapon" (single shot 45-70) and I find one that I decide to buy. Having just moved (Permanent Change of Station/PCS'd) here; I give the clerk my military ID, a copy of my PCS orders and my New Mexico drivers license. Everything I needed to provide to legally purchase a firearm. After a 10 minute wait while the clerk called someone, I was told the owner didn't want to deal with selling to military on orders and that they had been burned by the BATF before for selling to military on orders. If I wanted to buy a firearm from them I would have to get a Mississippi ID. I told the clerk to pass on that if that store wanted my money they needed to learn the rules and not discriminate against the military.
  11. The best way for me is one I learned from a local GM; basically, you roll on your strong arm side just a bit, so that you are sort of comfortable and you use your normal grip(if you were shooting at clouds). All of your weight is on your strong arm side of your body from the about the shoulder on down.
  12. That is a very good choice, but you will have to modify the feed ramp a bit to make it run 100%. It is a relatively easy fix though if you have a gunsmith local that can do it for you. The one I bought last year is fine. Buy with confidence, Zerwas had a little trouble with his and was too impatient to let STI fix it for him.
  13. I'm about to find out, after 12 of the last 18 years living in southern NM, I'm moving to southern MS for my (likely) last assignment as active duty USAF. The house I have already leased is located less than 4 miles from the Pascagoula River State Wildlife Management Area. This show has me intrigued to say the least, I now know I am pretty dang close (~4 miles) to Gator hunting country. However, going after these monsters with a 22 does not seem that prudent to me. I have already looked at Mississippi regulations and "Alligators may only be dispatched with a shotgun with shot size no larger than #6 shot or with a bang-stick chambered in .38 caliber or larger. All shotguns or bang-sticks must remain cased and unloaded until the alligator is restrained." I hope that I will be able to have my "CCW" 500SW Magnum on my hip should I decide to give this a go.
  14. Except a 10mm case won't fit a 40SW chamber. Like I said in the original post I'm simply curious about the combination. Thanks for the great discussion so far.
  15. We commonly load the 40SW out to 1.2+ inches in our limited and single stack 2011 and 1911's. If a person were to trim a 10MM case down to 40SW length (0.85 inches)would our modern 1911/2011's handle light 10MM loads (OAL 1.2+) in a 40SW chamber using the trimmed 10MM casing? Basically creating a 40SW+P type load. It seems to me the weak link in this situation is the 40SW case, and that would be alleviated by using the shortened 10MM casing, and loading it at/near 10MM OAL's should nullify/reduce the additional pressure. I'm sure I'm missing something, so please share your thoughts. Has anyone heard or read of someone trying it? The answer to the inevitable question of "why would you want to try this?" is simply why not. I'm simply curious and pondering the idea.
  16. I like JJ's chances, but I wouldn't be disappointed if Pete wins.
  17. Down here a full spare tank is anywhere from 35 to 50 bucks depending on where you buy it. I would imagine your Lowes would sell them in the low $40's.
  18. I have orders to Mississippi, my cell phone provider does not have local service in Mississippi. I can use my plan in Mississippi, but I will not be able to get a local number or physically go to a store for any help. I just got off the phone with a person that simply refused to let me talk to a supervisor. I got a vague reference to company policy that he would not email me and could not show me on the companies website. I could understand if they had service in the state the military is moving me too, but dang. Everyone will have to make a long distance call if they want to call me on my cell. (My son's school, work, any local businesses, etc.) I thought this was covered under the soldiers and sailors relief act, but I guess not. The ironic part is a few (3-6) months after I move a different company will be taking over for my current company, the new company is the one I want to switch too. So I may have to just suck it up for a few months. I will go to the local store tomorrow and see if I can get a better resolution in person.
  19. Yes no doubt. It looks to me that Kelly has learned the value of dry-fire. Rock on Kelly.
  20. That is excellent. The Army will be better because of her service. Just be sure that she knows not to decide how she likes the Army until she is at her first assignment after her AIT. The initial training environment is not how the Army or the military works. This little prayer applies, sometimes you just have to do what the Army tells you to do. "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference."
