I only made it about half way though this POS. I stopped after the aforementioned sniping scene. The "glad to be alive party" thing in the squad leaders hooch is crap. No booze in a warzone these days, certainly not that much, they had a freaking bar. It is getting to the point that I can't watch a modern "war" movie because Hollywood is so antiwar they can help but paint the Military in a poor light at best. I guess I'm just a bit sensitive to this crap, I know too many good people that have deployed (myself included) to let crap like this go unchallenged. Bring me the Black Hawk Down, Heartbreak Ridge, and Saving Private Ryans. I love a good war movie, but just because a movie has action/intense scenes doesn't make it worth a poop to me. It has to be realistic. If they want to make a sensational thriller, make it blatantly fictional like Avatar.

Good stuff, but I have never seen a Target with Guns in the hunting department. Or for that matter a hunting department, if there was one I wouldn't hate to go there with my wife so much.

The price of ammunition will by far outdistance the price of a pistol if you shoot enough to get good at this sport. Get the pistol you want, then buy a whole hell of a lot ammunition and shoot the dickens out of it. Like Flex says, pick one and practice.

I clean my guns every so often, no schedule. I do shoot Moly coated bullets that do lead my barrel a bit, so every once in a while I clean my pistol. Usually I clean my pistol when I want too, it is therapeutic for me. I don't feel the need to clean after every range session, but I do clean more than some are posting about.

I hate that the best man at my wedding 13 years ago, that I have not seen for 9 years; Has moved back into town and wants nothing to do with me. I have called and emailed, my wife has called and emailed, and face-booked. At the Squadron Christmas Party, my wife cornered him, but he was drunk and said it was because he is busy at work and don't know how to talk about his issues. We even stopped by his house on Christmas Eve, gave him a Hickory Farm holiday package, invited him to our families Christmas Eve and Christmas dinners. Complete no show. I volunteered for a change of assignment, after I left he went though a messy divorce. We didn't keep in touch. Now I think he hates me. Fast Foreword to today, last activity of the day is the Group Quarterly Awards presentation. I actually win the SNCO of the Quarter, I see my "best man" talking to a friend at the conclusion. By the time I could make it over, 5 minutes max, the "best man" has left. My other friend that goes back the same number of years, makes excuses, but they are simply B.S. I don't give a shit how busy you think you are at work, 30 seconds to say congrats and I have to go, is not going to stop a sortie. I hate not knowing what the hell is his problem.

Congrats. I have been off the stuff for 4 years now. For me one of the hardest things to do was to break the oral fixation. I used shredded coconut for a month or two by then I was over the nicotine addiction, so stopping the coconut was easy.

I don't know the details yet, but my Grandfather, David Baggs passed away tonight. Apparently he went to sleep in his favorite chair and never woke up. Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather, he will be missed.

I have to rip into one of my junior NCO's (E-5) tomorrow. This guy is currently separated from his WIFE, but travels the 100 miles every weekend to see his family. Monday, I have one of my female Airmen (E-4) tell me he put a move on her last week, off duty; BTW her Husband (E.O.D.) is currently deployed to Afghanistan. How dumb to you have to be to make a move on an E.O.D. guys wife? They make and dismantle bombs for Pete's sake. They text back and forth after she shot him down, trying to smooth things over. BUT.. over the weekend his wife sees the text and all hell breaks loose. This culminates in his wife calling my Airman and calling her everything in the book and threatening her. He calls back my Airman and apologies/spells out everything on a voice mail with his wife screaming at him in the background. Solid Proof. This freaking dirtball, not only was going to cheat on his wife (who I guess still cares); but he was perfectly fine with breaking up a subordinates marriage too, while her husband is deployed. Hitting on someones wife is never acceptable; but hitting on a subordinate who's husband is in harms way is as bad as it gets. So he attempted to commit article 134 of the UCMJ. After pushing this up my chain of command, all that we can to do him is a Reprimand. So tomorrow I will give the butt-chewing of my life when I give him the letter of reprimand. Also he will loose his supervisor position. We will see what happens....

Please share this with your personnel. For your situational awareness, we regularly train our Defenders in how to respond to an active shooter and maintain close working relationships with the various tactical response teams in the local area. Just this week we conducted a joint exercise in the dormitory area with the FBI, SFS and County Crisis Negotiation Teams. In the coming months we will continue to train our personnel in how to respond to dangerous situations like this. Additionally, effective today we started arming our back shop personnel effectively tripling the number of armed first responders available to respond immediately in a crisis.
