  1. So took my brand new MPX to the range today and as I read in various places, use factory ammo before trying low PF ammo. So I started with a 100 WWB ammo and it ran 100%. The issues started when I went to use Federal Independance ammo. First few rounds no problem then it started to short stroke. I thought maybe it was the ammo, so I used another type of ammo I had (reman) but it was worst. I lubed the rifle with the supplied Lucas oil and still same issue. So I went back to the Federal and it was pretty much a single shot rifle. Went and got some Hornady Critical Defense +P ammo and same thing so I wrapped it up from there. Rifle was cleaned and lube with CLP before going to the range. Any ideas what to looks for?
  2. Might be getting an MPX Friday. Looking to see if someone is running 147gr Xtreme with Titegroup out of an MPX. Wondering is my standard load of 3.0gr would work.
  3. So I replaced the barrel with a 16" mid-length barrel, Odin Works adjustable gas block, DTF brake (was free to try out) and took the weights out of the buffer. Huge difference. Shooting a 6" plate at 100 yards standing is a lot simpler now. The plate doesn't even leave the view from scope. Still think the reset on the trigger is a bit long but I think with more shooting, it will be fine. I'll replace it when I build my wife's rifle. Thanks for all the help guys.
  4. This is what the coating in my DVC barrel looks like at around 2000 rounds.
  5. Building another upper isn't an issue (or another AR for that matter). My son is getting into the sport so I might just past the 14.5" AR to him with a red dot. That way I can also keep it as my anti coyote rifle. Was looking into Stretch 16" intermediate gas system but they have a few different profiles to choose from. So will look into that more. Did a research on JP LMOS and I see mixed reviews. There was another BCG that is highly recommended in this forum can't remember who at the moment but I'll find it. My concern is to keep it light. The first dedicated rifle I had was a brick to move around (18" Armalite) and I don't want that. That's what made me go with a 14.5" upper. Thats a lot for the help though.
  6. Thanks for the tips!!! That was my first rifle match in 2 years and my fourth one over all. So yes I need a lot of practice still. So on your recommendation, you suggesting either a 16" barrel (or 18") and gas block/comp change or do the gas block/comp change to the current barrel (with the low mass BCG)? I had an 18" upper before and I found it to be hard to move around. I'm only doing club matches and we do the rifle match right after our pistol matches (same stage minus the steel). Thanks again
  7. Built this AR about a year ago. It shoots great and pretty accurate. This was my first match with it. As you can see in the video, there are some long pauses between shots. This was due to the CMC trigger and me. To me there is too long of a reset. So the trigger is easy. I'm between ELF or Geissele. Where I need help is with the muzzle rise. The rifle has a carbine gas system on a 14.5 barrel using a PWS brake. I have a mil-spec bolt and a H1 buffer with unknown spring. My brass ejects to the 1 o'clock almost as fast as the bullet leaving the barrel. The rifle weights about 8lbs as is loaded. I don't understand how to go about curing this so I need some guidance. Was thinking a new brake and adjustable gas block.
  8. Might just do this to clean it up a bit. Thanks for for the inputs.
  9. So after last match, I noticed how bad my mount in my DVC is getting hit by brass. I think if I tune my ejector it should be good but I don't want to change anything in the gun (internals). It runs 100% with my 2 170mm mags (still need to tune my 140mm) and don't want to change/jeopardize that. I also get flash burns underside of the mount. Been thinking about lowering the dot, but not really needed. Due to my eye sight, I still have to partially close my left eye to pick up the dot. So been reading a few things about different dots and mounts. Looking for the experienced opinions. So with the other dots (really like the Deltapoint Pro) and the 90* mounts, is flash an issue that might block the sight picture or "burn" the C-More? My loads are with 3n37 and AA7 I also heard that some of the 90* mounts are not true center to the bore, true? Anything else that can be added would be great because I am 100% sure I'm forgetting something.
  10. So I got to shoot it today for the first time. AMAZING!!! I think the trigger is perfect the way it is. It is at 8/4# but the break is CRISP and predictable. Lots of feed back...something I was missing from my other DA/SA guns. Definitely need an FO sight and maybe grips for aesthetics. Also definitely need to change the recoil spring. It is abbot over sprung.
  11. About the same as mine. So will go with the 10# recoil spring also. Thanks
  12. I shot a DVC open. I got this for my son and for me to use in multi-gun. I don't find the trigger bad at all. When I go to the range tomorrow I'll see if the gunsmith is there to see at what poundage the trigger is. For your .140 are you at dot on target or 6 low? What loads you running?
  13. Been following your thread and already have a laundry list of parts. Just not sure on which grips fit (stock II are the same?). I also have to take mine apart because I think mine might have some work done. Trigger doesn't feel nearly as bad as you describe it. Very similar to my CZ97 with just a 13# hammer spring. The reset seem shorter than I expected but I still see the 2 piece sear. Also not sure what height to get for the front FO sight.
  14. Like the title says. Just got a Stock III and looking to do a few things. Looking for grips and to lighten the trigger pull and if possible shorten the reset. Also what front sight? Is the Stock III a large frame? Would this be the correct magazine? Thanks

    CZ 75TS vs 2011

My $.02 I used to shoot an STI in limited, I use the TS for multi gun or my son uses it for Limited. 1) Out of the box reliability.-Haven't had any issues with mine at all. 2) Recoil characteristics. What recoil? It is a heavy gun and this isn't an understatement. Try it with 200gr pills and slighting lighter recoil spring. 3) General ergonomics (any issues with racking the small slide on the CZ? Does one gun fit big hands or small ones better?).-I have "normal" hands and my son has long fingers (he is 6ft tall 130lbs) We have no problems with ergos. Ergonomics though, is like shoes. what fits me might not fit you. I like the factory rear sight because it is tall and can be used as a slide racker. 4) Magazine reloading characteristics (is one faster to reload than the other?)-No issues there even with the factory magazine well. 5) Ability to get a variety of aftermarket accessories (my big concern on the CZ)- Only thing I found that I needed was an FO front sight. Onlyt hing I have problem finding are grips. They are out there but in limited quantity. I would like to replace mine with aluminum one with full grip tape. Trigger is amazing out of the box. No need touch it IMO. For a $1200 gun, you get a nice gun that is 99% ready out of the box, just add FO sights. For holster in Limited Div, my STI Ghost holster holds it nicely.

    TS recoil spring

I'm running a 10# with 130ish PF ammo. No problem with it.
  17. I use engine assembly lube. Works great.
  18. I load for both (38 SC and 38S). I use the 223 shellplate to load 38SC because once in a while a 38S case will sneak into the bucket. Not that the load is a problem but my STI doesn't like 38S brass. The other issue I have is that if I use the 9mm shellplate for 38SC brass, the primers will not line up correctly.
  19. That's the one I'm using in my DVC.
  20. Nice! Would love to hear how the 10# spring works for you. Put a few rounds down range today. 10# with the loads I mentioned above works perfectly. Ejection was about 8 ft behind me. Cycle just fine too. I was worried that it would be too light but it is perfect. Sight are right on too. Very pleased with the way it is shooting. My son wants to use it for limited minor now.
  21. The parts will arrive today. I get home from work I will install them and see about shooting, if not tomorrow. One thing I noticed though. Is the a safety selector that puts the thumb higher like 1911s? I like to ride the thumb safety but can't do it with the TS because it sits too low.
  22. Went ahead and ordered a 7.5mm and a 10# recoil spring. Let's see how that works. I like the original rear sight to since it can be used as a slide wracker.
  23. Here are some of the loads I have tested out of my STI DVC Open. CFE-P: Worked well but found it that it will not work the comp well. Haven't tried it with 115s. Also found it very dirty. BE-86: works the comp well but it is the most violent of the group. Haven't tried it with 115s. HS-6 work the comp very well and soft shooting. Equally as dirty as CFE-P. 3N37: works the comp well very clean powder and most accurate load out of my gun AA7: Very accurate, works the comp the best and the softer shooting of this bunch. I have only done testing with this powder (no more than 50 shots at a time) so Can't comment on dirty/clean of it. Once I run out of my HS-6 and 3n37 I will switch to AA7. The only powder that made major with published data was AA7. Keep in mind these are my loads. Go low and work you way up. 3N37.pdf BE-86.html CFE-P.html HS-6-1.pdf AA#7.pdf
