  1. Load them to 38 ACP data. Hornady loading manual has load data for 38 ACP.
  2. Can't remember off the top of my head (don't have access to it ATM) but it is either at max or near max from Hodgdon's data.
  3. NICE!!! HAHA, My wife keeps sending me picture of my DVC that came in last week. I'm on deployment and it is driving me nuts.
  4. When I got my Executive, the only thing I had to change to make it run reliable was the extractor. I was having issues with the one in the gun. Replaced it with an Aftec one and never looked back. I started with 4.3gr o Titegroup with 180gr and it was okay. Tried out some 200 with TG and I notice how it tamed down the snappiness. I ran out of TG and started using CFE-P and it even made it a softer shooting gun. My next change is to do a Dawson Tooless rod. After a while the recoilmaster gets annoying to take the gun apart, at least in my case. I also want to have the ability to change recoil spring with convectional 1911 style spring that are readily available in my area.
  5. Dinging this back as I have a 97bd and would like to use it for L10. Was wondering if the OP found something. Thanks
  6. With my STI Executive I started with 180gr and switched to 200gr bullets. There is a noticeable difference in muzzle rise but I also noticed that the slide got slower. I was using Titegroup with 180gr and 200gr pills then switched to CFE-P with 200gr and it is a bit smoother. Feels similar to my Para 1911 45. Just feels like the slide is a bit slower.
  7. Been doing a lot of reading on making a major PF load in 38 Sup. Powder of choice at the moment is CFE-P since I have plenty of it. I have a good starting point on load development from reading a couple of threads here and other places. This will be for a STI DVC. I do have a chrono. I have 3 questions regarding working up a load. 1. How does CFE-P works the comp? 2. Has anyone compared CFE-P with 115s and 124s and which one works the comp better? 3. When working up a load, and you have reached major PF and found a load that also works the comp good, do you guys keep pushing the loads or where do you stop (beside pressure signs)? Thanks

    BE86 powder

I tried it out of my Tanfo Witness Steel 38 Super. Like it a lot. When I get my DVC open I'm thinking doing some testing with it. I also tried it in 9mm (XDM 5.25) and 45 (Para 1911) and it is very smooth shooting. when I get home I will be able to do some chrono testing on it. Would love to have some data for 200gr pills for 40.
  9. Bringing this thread back. Getting into Open pistol now. Being doing a lot of reading and I have a good starting point for this powder/bullet combination. I have a lot of CFE-P on hand and would like to stick to this powder if possible. The one thing I haven't found on my searches is how CFE-P work with the comp. This will be out of a DVC.
  10. ^ I use 3.9 of TG, same bullet, same pistol. works very well.

    BE86 powder

Any one else have tried this powder, specially in 38 Super? According to Alliants load data, it has some decent speeds. Would like to see if making major PF is possible.
  12. Was going to start a similar thread, but since this is here I might add some questions that the OP might find useful. The wife just ordered a DVC in 38 Sup. Been reloading 38 Sup for my Tanfoglio Witness Steel for a while so I have plenty of brass. 80% of my brass was brand new Starline but it isn't +P brass. Was wondering if the regular 38 Sup brass is strong enough to handle the pressures of 38 major? Yes I have a chrono. What is the recommended crimp for 38 major. I'm currently crimping it to .377 if I remember correctly. I'm using Xtreme plated bullets for my Tan but plan on using Zero or MG for the DVC. Any luck with using CFE Pistol? Got plenty of this powder. Plan on testing 115 and 124 pills.
  13. What is the weight of the factory spring and what did you put in it?
  14. Glad I ran into this thread as my wife just ordered one for me. Was wondering if there are any follow ups to those that are having FTFeed issues and extraction. Wondering as the round count increased does the DVC works it kinks out. I'm a firm believer on the Aftec extractor as all my 2011/1911s have them. So I plan to swap that out regardless. To those that are having FTFeed, you using 38 Super or 38 SC brass? Does the DVC prefers .355 or .356 pills? Guessing .355. Planning on using Montana Gold 124gr. Got a few powder to work with. Will plan to do the initial testing and sight in with some AA ammo. Thanks
  15. I'm using their Extreme trigger kit with the lightest springs, titanium firing pin stop and titanium firing pin indicator. I polished all my internals surfaces and the striker. Very smooth trigger and nice glass like brake. Can't be happier. Factory trigger was awful at 7#+.
  16. Do this one comes with replaceable front sights? Would like to have FO sights. http://eaacorp.com/gun_accessories/index.php/parts/tanfolio/witness/conversion-kit/long-slide-conversion-kit/9mm-conversion-kit-longslide-w-super-sight-wonder-300025.html
  17. Well I already have all the fire control items from PRP and very pleased with the 5.25 9mm. Was using it in Limited but the point disadvantage was hurting my score. Got a 40 for limited now so I either make the 9mm for open major or sell it and start with another platform.
  18. I know this an old thread but wanted to bump it to see if anyone has tried it yet. Thinking of running mine in open class.
  19. If I'm understanding Tanfo site correctly I have a force 38 model and it is on the list. To be honest, I would like to make this a limited gun and eventually a open gun but right now this is my HD gun so I'm going to try it in Production class. Guess I need to go shopping for another HD gun.
  20. Bummer, guess I will have to use it in Limited since I already have a L10 gun. I think I'm going to go ahead and pick up a pound of each ( no AA 9) and some AutoComp. Going to try some 124s and 147s.
  21. I have a chance to get some Blue Dot, 7625, AA 9, 4756 and/or CFE Pistol. Not worried about making mayor PF but would like to take advantage of the capability of this cartridge. I already have Lil Gun Bullseye and PB (use PB and BE for 45) and according to Hodgdon it makes some good velocities. Should I use rifle or magnum primers? I'll be shooting this out of a EAA Witness and will eventually like to use it in production class.
  22. This seems to pop up in every reloading related forum I visit and I haven't seen anyone take into consideration a few things. This what I believe is happening. When the ammo shortage came about, people turn into reloading. So you have new reloaders daily still to this day. During the ammo shortage, new small business started reloading to resale and this still happening. These new businesses are ordering powder by the barrels. Then you have the hoarders. This is just like 22lr. When ammo prices were high, people started shooting more 22lr. Then supply and demand caught up and started becoming hard to get. The 22 lr hoarders were made. Now there is no 22lr on the shelves and people are buying it like crazy. I don't think it is a big government conspiracy, or there would be no 50 BMG components either.
