  1. the guys at Long Island Practical Shooters are great ,and have 3 gun , USPSA and other fun things to do on a weekly basis.. i myself have never shot at the facility but hear it's pretty large ...i did shoot with the USPSA team from LIPSA at my Jersey club and can vouch .. good dudes... http://www.lipsa.us/eventscalendar.html
  2. just from my personal experience from what i see at matches, the best shooters are not what i consider to be in the best of shape. i'm guess im average for my height 5'9 180lb but i am in terrible cardio shape. i agree with Moto as well that perhaps this is the beginning of something in the shooting sports in terms of athleticism. i watched it happen in golf over the years where the top players were generally rotund in the late 70's and 80's. Then came what i like to call the "Tiger Effect". In shape, on a training program and ready for anything. Watching "Hot Shots" last night , Max talked about what he sees in the students he trains and says most new students approach the sport as an athletic challenge as well as strategic. interesting to watch the development, as my own body deteriorates to mush....lol
  3. agree with the call here , especially on a classifier. ...i feel the onus has to be on the competitor for securing his/her protective gear , RO should only make sure that some form of protection is in place at make ready. cant play 20 questions at the line " are you comfortable with the eye and ear protection you chose today?" , "are you wearing clean underwear?" ... i think the rule book has it right for the most part....without getting into issues in regards to RO liability....
  4. big USPSA match at Ontelaunee Rod and Gun club this Sun the 26th... 8-10 stages... nice round count . very well run it's about 1.5 hr drive from Middletown PA... straight up 81 http://ontelaunee.org/uspsa/

  8. i used some of this replacement foam for a pelican case. 1. place components on foam to layout configuration that works 2. outline components with chalk or sharpie 3.use electric knife to cutout component shapes 4. gaze upon it proudly http://www.amazon.com/Pelican-1751-Replacement-Foam-1750/dp/B000MF307I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1429291863&sr=8-2&keywords=pelican+foam
  9. As a relatively new shooter (1 year) and an RO for a only few weeks , i welcome your efforts with the card. Since i don't really have much experience running shooters just yet, this comes in very helpful. Yes, we should all know the rules inside and out , and i have a .pdf of the rule book on my computer at the office that i read in my free time. We have quite a few A and B shooters and a few M's in there as well. Even though all my matches so far have been local club level, if i get asked to run those guys, i get a little nervous that i might fumble the ball so to speak. This card gives me a little more confidence to make proper calls. That is all. Thanks for taking the time
  10. " FRONT SIGHT ! " and "Shut up and Shoot Already!"
  11. decent discount , .375 in .. AR500 steel http://mgmtargets.com/specials
  12. i dont think more over the shoulder views help too much as i stated in previous posts, it should be NFL style, just not as complicated as a spyder type system. I don't think the R.O. needs something else to think about , his job is to focus on shooter , not to worry if he switched his camera on. when i think of video evidence , i think of something like this: http://www.gizmag.com/linecam-suspended-camera-system/26882/ very expensive .. and then there is this http://kevinjantzer.com/diy-cable-cam/
  13. maybe good , maybe bad .. time will tell .. but generally with a deal like this you get two companies with some synergies that are redundant and need to be purged. Usually it's the stuff that I LIKE that go..lol.. and the rest of the products get a marketing evaluation to push the price points (usually higher) ... and then the service side usually goes out the window .. hope not in this case

  15. My wife has driven an Acura ILlX for a few years and loves it.. And the service has been goodI, however I do not.. I find the road noise unbearable inside the cabin.... But then again, I drive a Buick
  16. Agree.. Also not in the best interest of a retail chain to stockpile inventory of anything.. Capitalism being what it is.
  17. i started competing with a 96 ... i compensated by getting an HK VP9...
  18. .. just finished the Level 1 RO seminar with George Jones this past weekend so this stuff is fresh in my mind . my question is the barrel in front of the lever. Can that be considered an RO trap? .. also why would the video camera be placed in that particular spot? . potential issues foreseen and not corrected ? .. hard to tell , but not sure the RO could even see the gun from his angle and the gun below the barrel....
  19. I would try a 10% discount Groupon deal to move inventory and spread the word
  20. i think the general thought of video ONLY AS A REFERENCE IN A DISPUTE is not intended to take out the human element of the game and i don't think it should either. However it sucks up NO TIME and may even SAVE TIME (which i think we'd all be in favor) in the event of a disputed DQ. Why is there no benefit to a concrete answer of a 180 break? .. Also time .. camera would start with corresponding sound of the beep, so there would also be confirmation of correct time IF NEEDED. I hate to even mention it , but this game had an issue with padded times recently and i think we all HATE the idea of someone doing that for friend or foe. it's all just ideas getting thrown around for discussion and that's a good thing .. once the conversations for improvement/change or whatever cease.. time to short USPSA . But as a rule, consistently bad RO'ing is not part of the games intention and should be corrected if possible , or in a camera's eye .. keep them honest, as well as competitors.... AGAIN, not a solution, just an idea.
  21. It's not ideal nor would the video be intended for review of every run. Just the disputed DQ that might occur. What percentage of DQ's would you say are disputed? 30%?..I'm guessing... I would hope video wouldn't come into play that often.. I may be way off... Not an RO
  22. a Cable mounted video camera system over the pit that follows the competitor with a top down view as he moves through COF. But video only to be viewed if there is a disputed DQ. Video of shooters will be available for purchase after the match... for a nominal fee of course
  23. this is very helpful for noobs... such as myself thanks
  24. Trigger ? ... too obvious maybe Weatherby Ruger snapcap buckshot non-gun related entry Papillion... too french? ..
